Healing

Bible study on Matthew 10

  1. The 12 disciples of Jesus were introduced in Mathew 10.
  2. Why did Jesus choose 12 disciples, perhaps the tribes in Israel?
  3. Why were all the disciples’ male? The plausible reason is to avoid issues that may occur in mixing married or unmarried male and females together on His hectic missionary and evangelistic work. However, several other female disciples ministered to him
  4. Disciples of Jesus should preach the gospel, and the central message should be that of repentance and salvation. Sermons should be heaven focused (vs.7)And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  1. Ministers of Christ are empowered to heal the sick and raise the dead (vs.8)Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead
  2. Ministers are empowered to cast out devils and deliver people from demonic oppression (vs.8), cast out devils
  3. Ministers should not commercialize the gospel or place a price tag on healing, deliverance, or salvation (vs.8)freely ye have received, freely give.
  4. Ministers should trust God to provide their wages- Verse 9 and 10 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
  5. Ministers should depend on God for financial provision (vs.9, 10) 9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

  1. Salvation is by informed consent. Ministers should not spread the gospel where they are not welcomed (vs.11)And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
  2. Ministers of the gospel should be wise and smart and avoid falling into traps of the ungodly (vs.16): be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
  3. Ministers of Christ should abstain from all evils, and be peaceful (vs.16)be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
  4. Ministers should be watchful and vigilant of haters of the gospel (vs.17)But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
  5. Ministers of the gospel should expect to be persecuted, hated by the ungodly (vs.22)And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

  1. Ministers should not confront persecutors of the gospel, but ‘flee’ from them (vs.23)But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
  2. Ministers of Christ should not be ashamed of the gospel (vs.33)But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
  3. Ministers should preach the gospel boldly and openly (vs.27)What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

  1. Your enemies will be blood relations– verse 36- And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
  2. Any Christian who does not minister Christ is akin to an infidel (vs.38)And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
  3. Those that support the Minister of the gospel shall be divinely rewarded (vs. 40, 41&42)40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Bible study on Mathew 9

Posted on Updated on

  1. Matthew 9 further reveals the healing and salvation ministry of Jesus Christ.
  2. Jesus healed the paralytic, (vs.2) – And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee;
  3. Jesus healed the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years, (vs.22) – But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour;
  4. He rose the daughter of the king from dead, (vs.25)– But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

  1. He also caused the blind men to see, (vs.30) – And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
  2. He healed the dumb  (vs.33)– And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.
  3. Jesus also introduced himself again as the Savior, and friend of sinners. He dined with a crowd of drunkards and sinners. He did not stigmatize nor label them as outcasts. Rather, he announced his ministry to them: ‘(vs.13)– for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
  4. If the only thing we do in church or Christian ministry is to preach to the saved, then we are not fulfilling the ministry of Jesus Verse 12 – 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
  5. Jesus revealed himself as a teacher of the word, preacher of the gospel, and a city/village evangelist. The miracles of Jesus were either preceded or accompanied by teaching of the Word of God, and preaching on repentance from sins.

  • Lastly Jesus lamented that absence of labourers to harvest souls to the kingdom. Would you decide today to harvest souls for the kingdom by doing the work of a missionary, evangelist, or Pastor?

Verse 37Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but     the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

  • Do you want to remain as a church goer, a bench warmer in church or you want to step out for Jesus from today as a harvester of soul?

Prayers

  • The devil shall not harvest your soul in Jesus name
  • The devil shall NOT harvest my soul in Jesus name

Bible study on Matthew 8

Posted on Updated on

Matthew 8 introduces us to the three-fold ministry of the Lord Jesus:

  1. Ministry of healing
  2. Ministry of deliverance
  3. Ministry of salvation

  1. Jesus is the Healer
  2. Jesus healed the leper – 2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
  3. Jesus healed the man sick of palsy (vs.6)And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented;
  4. Jesus healed Peter’s mother sick of fever (vs. 14)And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.
  5. If you wish to receive a miracle, start by worshipping God. The leper worshipped Jesus before requesting for healing

vs. 2 –  And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying

  1. The leper worshipped Jesus. What are you passing through that is hindering you from worshipping God?
  2. The leper worshipped God and received a miracle. Jesus does not respond to weeping, murmurings, or lamentations. Jesus respond to worship
  3. You need faith to receive divine healing. The centurion received divine healing for his servant by faith. Verse 88The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
  4. Jesus healed by speaking word of God (vs. 8 and 15) – 8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.  15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

Jesus did not heal by asking people to drink holy water, asking them to bath in streams, asking them to sow a financial seed for healing, or asking the sick to rub spiritual cream on the body. He simply spoke the word of God healed the sick.

  1. If you desire healing, just speak the word. Compile healing scriptures and recite them daily.
  2. Jesus healed the sick by touch. The finger of Jesus shall touch you today in Jesus name

Verse 3:And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him

  1. Jesus is the deliverer. He delivered many that were possessed by devils ( 16) – 16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

And (vs. 28) – 28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

  1. Deliverance is core of Jesus’s ministry. Jesus cast out devils. You can cast out every devils troubling your life in Jesus name.
  2. Deliverance is by the word of God, Deliverance is not by any other material, except the word. It is the word that delivers, not intermediaries such as oil, handkerchief, water, soap, clothes, or photograph of men of God.

Verse 16 – and he cast out the spirits with his word

  1. Jesus was asleep despite the stormy winds that was drowning the ship because he knew angels are ministering to him and God is in control. We need to be calm in face of crises and trust in Emmanuel, God is with us

Verse 24 – And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

  1. The disciples of Jesus were almost getting drowned but Jesus intervened. The disciples were almost perishing in the sea, but Jesus saved them. As long as you are with God, you shall not perish in any stormy wind of life in Jesus name. The Lord Jesus shall surely save you from perishing

Verse 25: And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

  1. Jesus is the Saviour. He rebuked the stormy wind, and saved his disciples from the drowning ship.

Verse 26  And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

  • I rebuke every storm in your ship in Jesus name

  1. Christians should be ready to make sacrifices for the kingdom. If you wish to carry the cross and follow Jesus, you should be ready to make sacrifices.

Verse 20: And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head

  1. Are you a true follower of Jesus.? Are you ready to follow Jesus anywhere? The disciples of Jesus followed him. If you are not doing any thing for the kingdom or obeying Gods laws, then you are not following Jesus

Verse 23:  And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

  1. You need to speak the word to claim your healing, call on Jesus to deliver you from devils; and pray to Him to save you from the stormy winds threatening to drown you.

Prayer

  • My body hear the word of God, be healed in Jesus name
  • Devils afflicting my life, I cast you out in Jesus name
  • Jesus of Nazareth, save me.

UNDER WHOSE GOVERNMENT?

Posted on Updated on

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end….” (Isaiah 9:7a)

Read: Isaiah 9:6-7

messiahOf the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end….” (Isaiah 9:7a). There are different kinds of kingdoms – that of men and that of the devil. There is another Kingdom – a very special one at that – where every subject is either a king or a queen because the King of that Kingdom is called the King of kings. About 6000 years ago, there was a government which existed in the Garden of Eden. This was the government of Adam (Genesis 1:26-28).

This kingdom was prosperous and glorious and the gold there was grade one – better than the one commonly seen today (Genesis 2:8-12). Adam – the head of that government had a lot of time. He spent his time commissioning animals, projects, and other things similar to what contemporary governors and presidents do today. Then God looked down from Heaven and decided to give him something special (a wife) to make him complete. Then trouble came.

Since then, even when God knows you need some miracles, if you fail to ask Him, you may not have it. Why? Adam said God caused him to sin by giving him the woman he never asked (Genesis 3:12). That was the beginning of a most unexpected change. Adam lost his government and a new government headed by Satan took over.

Satan’s government was obtained through deception. This satanic government is what controls the world today with billions of people under it, except a few who have rebelled against that government and have opted for a divine government. Satan’s government is one of degradation and vain glory since God’s glory was taken up the moment Adam fell.

It is also a government of loneliness as Adam became separated from His Source after the fall (Genesis 3:8). It is a government of fear (Genesis 3:9-10). It is a government of curses (Genesis 3:16-19 ). If you find yourself almost succeeding but never able to achieve that success, it is an evidence that you are under a curse. It is a government of loss. Adam was sent out of his earthly paradise. It is a government of failure, disappointment, sorrow and death.

Anyone under the satanic government will be fed with all these tokens of the liar. Are you under Satan’s government? If you are still living in sin, you are under the government of Satan. If you find it difficult to obey God’s Word, you are still under Satan’s government. Everyone under his government becomes a victim of Satan’s manipulations, attacks and unhealthy control.

It is easy to fall into the pit of fornication but it takes the grace of God to come out of it. Ask God to bring you out of any sinful pit.

RETURNING ON HORSE BACK

Posted on Updated on

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Read: Luke 15:17-19

prodigal-sonTo ride on horse back is unusual progress. Effortless progress is quite an exciting experience. Who would not want to come to church when you know that the blind could see, the lame could walk or you will receive a miracle judging by past services? The presence of the miraculous has a way of spicing people’s enthusiasm to attend church meetings.

On the other hand, why won’t people lose interest in coming to church when they know it is the same praises, sermon or activity? Nothing is as spiritually killing as a cold Sunday sermon. Ministers must pay the price to deliver life-giving sermons to the congregation. In the Early church, they had great services both in the temple and in house fellowships. It was glorious progress because the leaders were riding on the back of the Holy Spirit.

Struggling stops the moment you ride on the back of the Holy Ghost. If only we can allow the Holy Spirit to carry us instead of carrying ourselves, the world will see remarkable exploits they never imagined. This is because riding is next to flying.

What can a trekking prince do to get back on the horse? First, find out what you did wrong that got you displaced. This calls for frank and unbiased personal examination. Ask yourself, where did things go wrong? Once you discover this, acknowledge your fault like the prodigal son. Willingly retrace your steps and make amends.

You would need the help of somebody greater than you to help you unseat the servant that is riding your horse because that servant would do anything to prevent a return to trekking. In the case of Samson, he cried to the Almighty God for help (Judges 16:28-30). Some time ago, our church was increasing by about 100 people every one or two months. I thought we were doing great but one day, God told me I was trekking instead of riding. Then He reminded me of the glorious days when the two of us will be chatting in my car.

Sometimes, I would stop the car just to discuss with Him. So He asked when last that happened? I apologized and put things right. That marked a new beginning for me. As you reconcile and restitute, and the Lord puts you back on the horse, keep all servants where they belong. Your flesh is your number one servant. It must be kept under (1 Corinthian 9:27).

Also, always remember to remain under the authority of the One who can lift up and pull down. Or else, no servant will want to obey you. In addition, pray without ceasing ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). If you cannot pray, you are indirectly telling God you do not need Him. You will be restored to your horse back but stay there by His power and grace.

Some believers are trekking today because they took their internal weaknesses for granted until they were enslaved by them.

UNCHANGING GOD

Posted on Updated on

  By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: ” And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail” (Hebrew 1:12)

Read: Hebrews 1:8-12

hebrew1In Matthew 26:36-46, the Lord Jesus Christ went into a garden called Gethsemane with His disciples. He separated Himself to seek God’s face on an issue. He prayed. The prayer He said that day was so remarkable because the salvation of mankind depended on it. He prayed until His physical strength gave way to supernatural strength. He agonized in prayer until His sweat became as thick as blood.

Until then He had a record of 100% answers to prayer requests but on this day, He repeated the same request three times yet God did not change His mind. From this, we learn that where God’s plan or purpose is involved, no amount of prayer can cause Him to negate them. If you are asking God to change His Word, you are wasting your time and effort. Rather, ask to know His will and align with it.

“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). Prayers do not change God. The above scripture tells us we are not consumed because of God’s immortality. James 1:17 says God cannot even change in the slightest degree while Hebrews 13:8 says He retains his essence in spite of fleeting moments, situations and circumstances.

Before, during and after your prayer, God remains God. He does not change. Your request does not add to or subtract from Him. Your prayer does not strip him of his dress. What He wore before creating the world is still what He is wearing. The fashion of earth fades away and continues to change but heavenly fashion never changes. God’s clothes are of the best designer – made by Himself, hence it does not need to be changed. He wears light. God is not carried away by the direction the multitudes are going.

God is eternally God. His seat is never vacant for anyone to contest for it. That might be one of Satan’s bones of contention but there is nothing anyone can do about it. God cannot be dethroned but is willing to share His throne with His human favorites, not angels. And this is for all eternity! For all who will share God’s throne, they will become unchangeable as God is.

Can you imagine yourself sharing God’s throne with Him? To do this you must be genuinely saved. You must overcome sin, Satan, the flesh and the world like Jesus did. You have to love and obey Him beyond everyone else. This year, God will not change His good plans towards you.

Jesus died for street urchins too. Pray and plan to present Christ to them and to take them off the streets.

ACCEPTABLE COVENANT BREAKING

Memorise: “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom” (2 Timothy 4:1)

Read: Romans 1:29-31

wisemenThe wise men immediately responded to the revelation of the unusual star they saw announcing the birth of Jesus (Matthew 2:1-12). These were nobles, highly respected and feared, but when the unusual star revealed that Jesus was more than any noble they had seen, they decided to seek Him. They did not worship Herod because he was just an ordinary king. All nobles have just One person they must bow to: His Name is Jesus Christ.

Any noble, president, governor, captain of industry or highly placed individual who feels too big to bow to Jesus now, will bow to Him later – when He seats to judge all men (2 Timothy 4:1). The difference is, if you bow now to Him, He will be on your side and make you a king under His everlasting Kingdom. That Kingdom has no end (Daniel 2:44). But if you fail to bow to Him now, it will be too late for the fellow if he or she dies in that state.

Have you bowed to Jesus Christ of Nazareth? If you can bow to Him, He will make sure your enemies bow to you. It is great wisdom to bow to the King of kings. Any king in your life or circumstance who refuses to bow to His will shall be uprooted this season in Jesus’ Name.

On the other hand, before the wise men departed, king Herod entered into an agreement with them that they must bring him feedback on the city, address and details on this child born king. After they traced the star to the location of the King of kings and had worshipped and offered Him gifts, they had a dream. In it, God warned them not to return to king Herod.

In fact, they were not to take the path they came by. By this, they were to break their covenant or agreement with Herod. But why would a God who is against covenant breaking encourage breaking of certain covenants at the same time (Romans 1:29-32)? Any covenant that God does not uphold is null and void. Any covenant that goes against God’s Word or will is voidable. If before you were born again, you had a certain covenant or agreement with the kingdom of darkness, now that you are born again, you are under no obligation to stick with it.

You can and should void it. Break it. Renounce it. You are now under a new government. You must not adhere to the agreements of the secret societies, lodges, cults or covens you once belonged after you have received Christ. Also, you should not fear them because you are now operating a far higher authority than any satanic group. Submit yourself for deliverance prayers and destroy all their symbols, regalia, books and property. You have no agreement with hell. Break away from all sin partners.

List negative covenants you have been involved in. Break them one by one using the authority in the Name of Jesus Christ.

SAINT OR SINNER?

Memorise: “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not” (Romans 7:18)

Read: Romans 7:18-25

learning-to-lean-on-jesus-33-638“Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep” (Rom 12:15). Not everyone who appears to rejoice with you over an accomplishment or promotion is sincere. Infact, many people mean the exact opposite of their good wishes. It is only in the Kingdom of God you can have those who would genuinely rejoice with you. If you claim to belong to God’s Kingdom and still find it difficult to rejoice at the rise or elevation of others, the law of sin is still very strong in your life.

Even among relatives, you have several foes who pretend to be sheep. A brother established a big thriving business. Because he was not on ground he asked a female relative to head the place. Under her were some managers. Over a period, the managers connived with some of the workers and stole huge sums of money. One day, he brought in some men of God and recounted his ordeal.

By this time, the organization had almost grounded to a halt. While they were discussing, his sister came in. Immediately, the Lord spoke to one of the pastors that she was not clean but part of the problem. He found it difficult to convey the message to him because the brother said if not for his sister, the company would have closed down completely. So they prayed and left.

Months later, one of the pastors came again to the brother’s company. Another manager had just bolted with several millions. While there, the brother’s relative started to cry and the brother was consoling her. Once again, the Lord made the pastor to know that she was not sincere. So they began to pray.

Not long after, it was revealed that this relative was in partnership with the other staff, and was out to ruin her brother. Although she pretended to go by public transport, she like some others, had bought big cars and acquired things from her brother’s sweat. She also used charms to manipulate both her brother and his company. This Muslim relative the brother thought was a saint was the devil eating him up and he had been thanking and paying her for it.

Every devourer pretending to be a friend shall be exposed to you. Do not hire the person you cannot control. Ask God to flush out all your internal enemies. Any relative pulling you down must be shown the way out!

Thank God for adding another year to Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye. Ask God for greater grace, wisdom, patience and love so she can be a mother to millions of believers across the globe.

ACTING ON THE WORD

Memorise: “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (James 1:25)

Read: James 1:22-25

doerer-of-the-wordWhen a gift or service is backed up by sacrifice, its value increases. In 2 Samuel 23:14-17, king David made a very expensive request. He asked for water which could cost the lives of his men. Yet they risked their lives and got it and returned it to him. How the value of that water soared! In like manner, the King of kings is thirsty, not just for ordinary water but for a specific, costly water.

To meet His request, you may have to risk your life – make a sacrifice that could cost all you have! How ready are you to make necessary sacrifice capable of enhancing the value of your gift, service or commitment? In the same vein, your prayer effort can be modified depending on the level of sacrifice involved.

For instance, at the Garden of Gethsemane, our Lord Jesus Christ prayed. It could have just been one of His regular prayers. But his prayer effort was so intense, sacrificial and hot that his sweat became as thick as blood. Once again, value was added to the form of His prayer. How do you pray? How intense is your prayer life?

A look at the lives of these outstanding mighty men of king David reveals certain qualities that would be present in everyone who would satisfy the deepest longing of the King of kings. The truth is, not every believer is ready to pay the price even when they can. The first quality noticeable in the lives of these three men, is that those who will satisfy Christ’s deepest longings must be men and women of action. James 1:22 says we must be doers of the Word.

There are many hearers but very few doers. Some hundreds of people heard David express his desire for special water, yet only three moved into action. There are many believers who hear the needs of the church being announced and they are in a position to help, yet they never do so. When a need is expressed, it is to give you an opportunity to be blessed. If you fail to respond, you are only blocking your way.

Can you see the needs in your church? What have you done about them? Have you seen the unannounced need in the life of your pastor or members of the church? What have you done about it? It is time to rise and meet the needs of the Most High.

If you find it difficult to obey God’s word, heaven cannot retain you among those who will satisfy the deepest needs of the King of kings.

Bible on godly and wise counsel

Posted on Updated on

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning” (Prov 9:9)

Read: Ruth 3:1-6

How did Ruth move into her new level of breakthrough? She received good counsel from her mother-in-law. Proverbs 20:18 says, “Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war”. When you are about to embark on an important journey, project or decision, good advice will be required for success.

The quality of your preparation will depend on how good your advisers are. If your advisers are ungodly, they will lead you astray with their advice.

Image result

They will ask you to do things that violate the Word of God. Of all counsellors, there is none as good as the Wonderful Counsellor (Isaiah 9:6). His knowledge is so vast that there is no area He cannot advise you on. If you want the best of counsels, go to Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 12:15 says it is wisdom to receive good advice. Are you already wise? Proverbs 9:9 says if you receive wise instruction, you will be wiser. Proverbs 1:8 says if you are truly a child of God, you will keep His instructions. An adage says, even if a child has as many clothes as an elder, he cannot have as many rags as the elder.

When counsel comes from someone older than you, take it into consideration, not minding his level of education or other limitations. In any case, there is nobody older than the One called the Ancient of Days (Daniel 7:9).

In Proverbs 11:24-25, the scripture says if you want to be fat, be liberal. To the modern man, that does not make sense, hence most people including Christians are tight-fisted today.

Some years ago, I went to visit one of our pastors. I expected that he would entertain me with at least a bottle of coke. Then, it sold for five kobo. Meanwhile, I had a gift for him worth 100 kobo.

After we exchanged pleasantries, I took my seat. Instead of offering something, he kept greeting me and I greeted in return. Shocked at his level of stinginess, I greeted him and left with the cash gift I had planned to give to him. On the way, I stopped by a petrol station, bought two bottles of coke at 10 kobo and pocketed the change. God still withdraws big blessings from those who fail to release the little in their hands.

Do you take godly counsels? Or are you too big to be counselled by God-fearing leaders? Some pastors and leaders stopped taking counsels the day they were elevated in their place of work or ministry. Never shun good, godly and God- glorifying counsel!

Ask God to show you the little things you are ignoring that can rob you of His greater blessings. Attend to them now!

Commentary on Matthew 23: Are you a Pharisee?

Matt 23 vs. 2-32 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

  1. The Pharisees didn’t obey the laws they give. They gave the laws and broke the laws; Jesus came to teach people not only to believe the law, but practice the law.

Matt 23 vs. 4 – They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

  1. Pharisees increased the burdens of the people. But Jesus came as a burden bearer and yoke breaker.

Matthew 23 vs. 5: “Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;

  1. Pharisees played to the gallery, sought self-glory and dressed flamboyantly to gain public attention. Jesus lived a life of piety, humility, and meekness while on earth.

Matthew 23 vs. 6: they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;

  1. Pharisees were attention seekers and reserved grand and special seats for themselves; while Jesus lived a life of lowliness.

Matthew 23 vs. 7 – they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’

  1. Pharisees liked to be publicly addressed with double barrel and high sounding titles, while Christ was meek while on earth.

Matthew 23 vs. 13 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!

  1. Pharisees were hypocrites; as they hindered the spread of the gospel why pretending to be children of God.

Matthew 23 vs.3 – So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach,

  1. Pharisees worshiped God with their lips, not their hearts, whereas Jesus taught that worshippers must worship God in the spirit and truth.

Matthew 23 vs.8 –  “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers

  1. Pharisees liked to be introduced with flattering titles- great men of God, anointed men of God, God’s general, etc.. Whereas Jesus did not carry any title in front of his name.

Matthew 23 vs. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

  1. Pharisees encouraged people to look unto them rather than unto God, they took the glory that belonged to God by encouraging people to call and treat them as ‘father’. Whereas Jesus said there is only one father, which is God.

(Matthew 23 vs.14) – You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

  1. Pharisees oppressed, exploited and robbed the very people, including widows they are supposed to help.

Mathew 23 vs 14:  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

  1. Pharisees are pretentious, as they sought to be honored by saying long prayers in the streets.

Matthew 23 vs.17 – You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

  1. Pharisees are foolish for they honoured the gold that decorated the temple, more than the temple; they honoured the cover of the bible more than the word written.

Matthew 23 vs.23 –  “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices — mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law — justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

  1. Pharisees were religious but not merciful. They faithfully paid tithes, but failed to practice the acts of faith, mercy, holiness, and righteousness. Jesus preached that we must not only pay tithes, but also practice the spirit of the law.

Matthew 23 vs.25 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

  1. Pharisees were full of iniquity and sin. They were physically beautiful but spiritually ugly.

Matthew 23 vs.10 – Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ

  1. Pharisees made themselves lord and master over their congregation. Whereas Jesus preached that the leader should serve the followers.

Matthew 23 vs.1) – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

  1. Pharisees were great evangelists, but they ended up converting people into hell rather than heaven.

Matthew 23 vs.25 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

  1. Pharisees were materialistic, greedy, and fattened themselves through spiritual exploitation and manipulation.

(Matthew 23 vs.33) – “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell.

  1. Pharisees were cunny, deceitful, crafty, and dishonest. Jesus described them as vipers and serpents.

Matthew 23 vs.13-15 – 13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. 15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

  1. Pharisees gathered members not souls. They gathered a crowd not a kingdom. They doubled the hurdles, sinner needed to overcome to enter heaven.

Sermons on prayers that moves mountains

Mark 11 vs. 2saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

  1. The colt was tied waiting to be slaughtered, it had limited freedom, as it was only able to move in circles.
  2. There is a divine command from heaven that you should experience a release in your finances, and health in Jesus name
  3. Just as Jesus commanded the colt to be loosed, God is going to release you for promotion.
  4. When they brought the colt to Jesus, He rode on it, and people laid them garments on the road in praise and honour of JesusIf you allowed yourself to be used by Jesus, He will cause people to honour you through Him.

Mark 11vs. 13Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.

  1. Jesus was hungry anddid not find any fruit on the fig tree, though the fig tree had a mandate to provide for Jesus at that time; can God trust in you?

 2. Jesus cursed the fig tree to dry up because it was not fruitful or useful. The essence of life is to live fulfill purpose and to be useful.

Mark 11 vs. 21 – Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”

  1. If the fig tree did not die it could have been a tourist attraction in Israel today

Mark 11vs. 17and as he taught them He said, “It is not written: my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations, but you have made it a den of robbers.

  1. What have you turn the church into? Is it a house of prayers or curses? Two things God will not share with anybody, glory and vengeance.

Isaiah 42:8: I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols

Romans 12:19Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord

  1. If you indulge in browsing social media activities during church service, you have turn the house of God into cyber café.
  2. Some people have turned the house of God to fashion parade; dressing is for covering, protection, and beauty but some people both young and old dress up without covering up.

Mark 11 vs. 22:And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

  1. Don’t put your faith in anything outside God, not in your connection, ability, family, or wisdom.
  2. I command every mountain in your life to be removed in Jesus name.
  3. God used the sea figuratively, because He knew when the mountain moves to the sea, the sea will swallow it.
  4. Speak what you want, God is hearing. He will rubberstamp it.
  5. As you sleep and wake up every day, you are getting closer to your miracle in Jesus name. Faith will keep you steady.

  1. Good health is holistic, mental, spiritual, psychological, body health.
  2. Uncleanness and dirtiness would be infections.
  3. What you take in determines your level of immunity, don’t just take in anything.
  4. Any food preserved in the freezer for more than one month is no more nutritious.
  5. It is better for us to eat fresh things, let us have a small garden at the back of our home.
  6. All oils are bad but some are better, palm oil is preferable but once you bleach (overheat) it, you have removed all the vitamins inside it.
  7. Once you boil your vegetable or pour hot water in it, all the nutrients in the vegetable are gone. Vegetable has oxidants but once you over cook it you are just eating its shaft.
  8. For those that drink alcoholic you are killing your brain gradually.
  9. If you smoke you are killing your body gradually.
  10. Take plenty of water daily, it flushes the system and waste products from your body.
  11. Take water early in the morning.
  12. Do physical exercises but prepare your mind gradually for the exercise.
  13. Rest and sleep, take annual leave from your work place to rest because it will do your body good.
  14. If you are 40yrs and above, you need at least 8hrs sleep daily.
  15. Go for general body check up yearly, once you are above 40yrs.
  16. Diet and exercises can prevent many diseases.
  17. It is cheaper to remain healthy than treat sickness.
  18. Check your blood pressure once in a month.
  19. You can only control your Blood pressure, but it is not treatable.
  20. Take a lot of full cream milk if you are above 40yrs.
  21. Once you are confirmed hypertensive you cannot go off your drugs unless you experience divine healing.
  22. If you are not disciplined and determined, you can’t be healthy.
  23. Diet goes a long way for treatment of diabetes and other illness.
  24. Go to the internet to get updates of diseases, and treatment symptoms.
  25. Don’t eat whatever you see, eat well even if it is just one meal. Breakfast is the most important meal.

How to receive divine healing

Pastor Yvonne Pelemo The World Overcomers Church, Lagos www.theworldovercomerschurch.org

I Peter 2 vs. 24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed

  1. You need to contend for your healing and cure because health is wealth.

Exodus 22 vs. 25If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

  1. Serving God is a health insurance. Proverb 3 vs. 1-8

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

  1. If you live by God’s principles and do his will, when sickness comes, he will take it away.

Causes of sickness

  1. Old age, but you can pray against it.
  2. Stress
  3. Emotional health
  4. Worries
  5. Sleepless night distorts your brain
  6. Fear
  7. Resentment and unforgiveness
  8. Not eating or drinking right. Smoking, drinking alcoholic drinks

Commentary on Matthew 17

Posted on Updated on

Mathew 17 vs 20-21

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

  1. The powerlessness of believers, among other issues is discussed in Mathew 17.
  2. Jesus lamented the powerless of His disciples who could not cast out and heal a boy that was demon-possessed.

3. Just like in the days of old, several disciples and ministers of Christ are powerless against evil spirits. Most people parading themselves as men of God, are more of inspirational and motivational speakers. They have excellent oratorical skills, they are great teachers of the word, but poor in manifesting the power of the word.

4. Jesus Christ gave three qualities every healing and deliverance Minister should possess.

  • A Minister of God must be a man of great faith (vs. 20). However, faith is not enough as not all miracles can be accomplished by faith.
  • A Minister of God must be prayerful (vs. 21). But this is not enough as some demons cannot be cast out by prayers alone.
  • A Minister of God must fast from time to time, but this is not enough, as fasting alone, not combined with prayers is a hunger strike.

  • 5. As such the treble combination of faith, prayer, and fasting is needed to receive healing and deliverance.

Deliverance prayers: O graves, release me now!

Posted on

Ezekiel 37 vs 11-12
11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’

12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.

What are the lessons of these scriptures?

1. There are physical, spiritual, financial, academical, professional, marital, business etc graves.

2. Those that are dead are buried in physical graves, but there are many that are alive that are in various forms of graves.

3. God is ready to open the  graves, bring you out, and restore your fortunes.

What is a grave?

1. A grave is place of hopelessness. Perhaps you are facing hopeless situation today, you are in a grave.

2. A grave is a place  people are abandoned and forgotten. Perhaps your friends are relations have cut you off, abandoned you and forgotten you in  afflictions, then you are in a grave.

3. A grave is a place of dryness. Has your income, finances, womb, health, marriage, job etc dried up suddenly and  unexpectedly? Then you are in a grave.

4. A grave is a place of deadness. Are there dead things in your life, though you are still alive? Is any part of your body dead, your marriage dead, your businesses dead? ….then you are in a grave.

Why do the righteous suffer and the wicked prosper?

Posted on

One of the mysterious of life is the afflictions faced by God fearing, Bible reading, and Church going Christians; while the anti Christ, world loving, and unbelieving wicked prosper. God gives answers to this scenario in a conversation with Prophet Habakkuk.

Habakkuk 1 vs 1: O Lord, how long shall I cry,  And You will not hear?
Even cry out to You, “Violence!” And You will not save.

Habakkuk 1 vs 4: For the wicked surround the righteous;
Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.righteous suffer

Habakkuk 1 vs 12: O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment;
O Rock, You have marked them for correction.

Why do the wicked prosper?

  1. There are times God refuses to listen to the cries of His people.
  2. There are times God refuses to save His people from the ‘wickedness of the wicked’ (Psalm 7 vs 9)
  3. There are times God allows the wicked to overcome the righteous.
  4. At times like this, the wicked has become a vessel in the hands of God, and an instrument to fulfil His plans for the righteous.

Why do the righteous suffer?

  1. The righteous may suffer as a punishment for past backsliding, especially if this happens after he has made a covenant of righteousness with God.
  2. The righteous may suffer as a judgement from God for things he (the righteous) have not done ‘right’.
  3. The righteous may suffer to make him a better Christian, to refine, and sharpen him in holiness.
  4. The righteous may suffer as a form of rebuke, and correct him in the way of holiness

Prayers:

  • I terminate every wickedness of the wicked in my life, in Jesus name
  • I receive the grace and power to live right in Jesus name

Who created evils and demons: God or Satan?

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy” (Is 54:16)Read: Deuteronomy 28:1-7
god“Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy” (Isaiah 54:16 ). God created everything. The devil created nothing. This is another limitation of Satan. He is constrained to operate within God’s planets including the earth. He can manipulate what God has created but cannot create his own. He cannot create human beings like God. All he does is manipulate, feign and deceive.According to Isaiah 54:16-17, Satan did not even create wasters and destroyers. God created them, no wonder they have no choice but to obey Him. The One who created witches, wizards and devourers says none of their instruments will work against you. Why not believe Him and stop worrying?

This year, because God promised, the devices of the enemy against you will not succeed.Today’s reading says if only you can obey Him completely, the enemies that come against you this year will seek seven ways of flight. What does this mean? First, your enemies will be confused. Also, they will panic and scatter. Similarly, they shall not only withdraw fresh attacks, but also all past attacks. That is, there shall be complete withdrawal. In the Name of Jesus, your enemies shall make a complete withdrawal of their battles against you this season. Your enemies fleeing seven ways also means that they will see something behind you that will make them brand you ‘an untouchable’.

From today your enemies will see and treat you as the untouchable that you are in Jesus’ Name. It also means that all the wars, attacks and battles of enemies against you will cease completely. In the Name of Jesus, the Lord will put an end to the attacks you have suffered . It also means that while the enemies’ path to attack you is limited and restricted, their exit from you shall be unrestricted. These will be your portion this year.

Father, let every war against my life and destiny from the four corners of the earth cease today!

Posted on Updated on

Job 36 vs. 11

If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

  1. Riches and wealth are rewards of obedience.
  2. The two biblical conditions for divine prosperity are:
  • Obedience to the laws of God
  • Service to God through Evangelism.

Bible lessons on Blind Bartimaeus

Posted on Updated on

Mark 10 vs 46-52:
46 Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road.

47 When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.”

50 Throwing aside his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 And answering him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!”
52 And Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.

This is a popular story in the scripture of how a blind man miraculously received his sight from Jesus. One of the commonest lessons from this passage is the desperation shown by the man before he received his miracles.

But I believe that there are many other lessons we can learn from the passage that will enable us to succeed in our endeavors just as blind Bartimaues succeeded in his effort to get healed.

One of such lessons is that we should not look at hindrances that may affect our success. If any one should get a miracle during the course of Jesus’ trip to Jericho, it should not be a blind man.

This is because such a man is not even in a position to see Jesus pass by. But Bartimaeus refused to be hindered. He rather was committed to his course of action.

They problems with most people is that they always look at the problem rather than the solution. Bartimaeus blindly looked at the solution not the problem. If a blind man can see Jesus, a person with perfect sight should not have an excuse for failure.

Don’t look at factors that may hinder you from succeeding. Just pressed on and the hindrances will give way in Jesus name.

Bible on How to succeed

Posted on Updated on

The popular story of Blind bartemaeus in Mark 10 vs. 46-52 contains success tips, one of which is the need to get information. Knowledge is power, and popular scripture says my people perish because they lack k knowledge.

We are in the information age, and ideas are now the most important social capital. Blind Bartemaeus was able to get healed because he had knowledge:

Mark 10 vs. 46 Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road.

47 When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

If you carefully read Mark 10 verse 47,you will realize that Blind Batemaues action was based on knowledge. The Bible says he heard it was Jesus the Nazarene that was in town. Am persuaded that there are several other Blind men in Jericho who had faith for healing, but were not aware that Jesus was in town.

If Blind Bartimaues was not aware that Jesus was coming to Jericho there was no way he would have positioned himself for healing.

Lessons from the Bible Story of Blind Bartimaeus

Posted on Updated on

Mark 10 vs. 46-52:

We are still considering the story of Blind Bartimaeus and learning some lessons form it to enable us succeed in life, just as he successfully received the attention of Jesus in spite of hindrances that surrounded him

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Bartimaeus was desperate. He knew his miracle was at the corner and that once an opportunity is lost it may never be regained. It is not everyday that Jesus comes to Jericho, even it comes, there is no guarantee that there is a better opportunity to see him.

Blind Bartimaeus cried to Jesus for healing, but the crowd shouted him down. But the more he was shouted down the more he cried.

He never kept silent; he never gave up until he got attention. Blind Bartimaues knew the Kingdom of God suffereth violent and he took it violently. The lesson here is that we need to apply more spiritual and physical force to receive our demands.

The lesson from the Faith of Blind Bartimaeus

Read Mark 10 vs 46-52

Many people are in a condition they are not happy with but they have resigned to fate.  Some have wrongly believed that they are destined to be failures, whereas the Bible clearly says that God has a good plan for us.

The violent Prayer of Blind Bartimaeus

Posted on Updated on

Blind Bartemaeus was violent Christian. He exhibited all the qualities of a prayer warrior.

Bartimaeus

He shouted on top of his voice and refused to be cowed. Immediately his attention was called to meet Jesus, he threw off his cloak and leap on his feet.

Mark 10 vs 46-48:.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me

Power does not concede anything without pressure.

I am sure there the evil spirit rulers of Jericho never Bartimaues to received his miracles, also the people of Jericho shouted him down. But Bartimaeus was not deterred. He struggled against God and Man and overcame.

He was violent in his spirit against his condition and was never pacified until he received his miraclesIn our daily lives, we have to apply the same violence in order to achieve breakthroughs.  When there is a will there is a way, when there is a violent will, there is a violent breakthrough.

How to receive healing from Cancer- A testimony

Posted on Updated on

I spent the year 2003 in the valley of the shadow of death, literarily at the jaw of the  grave.

It was a year that the Yorubas in Nigeria will name Odunbaku (the year I should have died); a year I took drugs more than five times the quantity I had taken in my earlier 40 years on earth.

It was a year I spent the greater part either infirmed or visiting hospitals. GLORY to God, the grave did not consume me, HE DID NOT ALLOW DEATH TO SWALLOW ME

UP IN VICTORY. As He did concerning Job, he forbad Satan from touching my life, even though he was permitted to sore afflict me.
THE GENESIS

The immediate genesis to the present attack could be traced to the decision in 1996 by some us in my father’s house to change our name from FALOBI (meaning born of Ifa, the Yoruba god of divination), to BABALOBI (meaning born of the heavenly Father).

Although four out of us five males took the decision after a night vigil, the two younger ones backed out later after family pressures. The first to be attacked spiritual was my immediate younger brother who stood with me in the decision.

His health was severely attacked and his career truncated. Ultimately, God gave him the victory. That was a few years ago.

The build up to mine obviously began a few years ago. From 2000, certain physical and spiritual symptoms pointed to a gradual build up. During this period, an attack on my car after a missions trips, armed robbery attack at home, drugged and robbed in a night bus while on my way to Calabar to give a missions talk, an accident at another time I was on way to Calabar to give an orientation on missions research were all indicative of a build up. I lost three precious bibles and nearly N2000000.00 to robbers and wasters during this time.

These were but prelude to the satanic “operation octopus ” which the satanic network unleashed on me this year (During Nigeria’s recent intervention in Liberia, the then rebel leader Charles Taylor, spent months in buildup of a network of well armed and equipped rebel forces and suddenly swooped on the Nigeria forces in an operation codenamed Operation Octopus.

Over eight hundred Nigeria soldiers were reportedly killed, even though the Nigerian forces successfully held out against the rebel forces).

PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS

The affliction began as numbness of the lower left lip late in 1999. This was initially thought to be dental and dental attention was sought over the years. However by late last year, headache on the left side of the head and insomnia/sleeplessness set in.

This were thought to be due to domestic stress and office work, especially as I have never taken a leave (save for public holidays since I graduated in 1985) Later poor sight of the left eye and pain/discomfort in the left ear set in. The ophthalmologists and Ear-Nose-and throat specialist were consulted and intervened.

By April, my jaws became stiff and difficult to open. I developed serious facial pains, sleeplessness (especially between 12.00 and 5.00 a.m.) and lack of appetite. Gradually, I lost up to 25kgs. weight. The initial diagnosis of Trigeminal Nerve Neuralgia of the left face by the dentists did not respond to prolonged therapy. By July ending, I was near the end of the ropes physically. Depression of my left occipital muscle set in.

Then the neurologists came in and changed medication. This provided remarkable relief until physiotherapy lead to loss of normal functioning of my left eye. A computerized tomagraphy (CT) scan was called for which revealed a melanoma, a growth in the left medial fossa. The neurosurgeons came in and I was placed on Steroids and asked o conduct a series of test preparatory to surgery.

A routine HIV/AIDS screening first turned out to be reactive. However further confirmatory HIV/AIDS test turned out negative. By this time the generalized pains have now limited to an area around the left ear. Excessive internal sinus fluid secretions caused a lot of discomfort, including that of the left eye.

For virtually the whole of the year, I dared not lie down to sleep. My bed and mattress were on holiday, in fact were removed from my room to create space for the armchair that became my sleeping mat. The little sleep I had was snatched sitting up in a chair. A second CT in December…

SPIRITUAL SYMPTOMS.

More significant and important were the spiritual manifestations. The first insight to the nature of the attack was a dream I had around 12.00 midnight on one of the sleepless nights. In the dream, I was directed by some relatives I had gone out visiting, to the home of the head of the hunters in my hometown to ask for permission to return to my father’s house after midnight met me outside visiting them.

Now it is known that hunters were priests and worshippers of the Ogun deity in Yoruba land. My grandfather was the headhunter in my hometown and all his children, including my late father, had one name or the other venerating the Ogun deity.

Obvious from this dream was the facts that some of my relatives wanted me to defer to the gods of my nativity (hometown), wanted me to approach the gods of my father’s to receive permission to sleep after midnight!

Much later, after much prayers and warfare have been undertaken by brethren, I had another dream in which the head hunter approached me and begged that I stopped people from sending fire upon their heads since they have decided to leave me alone. However another group led by a woman disagreed with him, saying it was fight to finish.

A subsequent vision to a minister in Lagos identified the women as priestesses of the local marine god of my village, the Okun (sea) goddess for which our street in the village is named after.

Other visions and revelations showed specific members of my immediate extended family involved in household wickedness against me (Micah 7:6, Matthew 10:36). Also the wasting of the muscles of my left face was attributed to the activities of eater of flesh and drinkers of blood (Psalm 27:2, Isaiah 49:26) practicing witchcraft.

Thus the source of the affliction was fourfold – a network of the gods of my father, the idols of my native town, household enemies/wickedness and sheer witchcraft attack.

THE ENIGMA OF THE AFFLICTED FOWL.

Late in January when the affliction was just developing, I got a gift of seven day-old cockerels. My wife was later to tell me that one of them was not eating/growing well because the jaws were mal-positioned. One day around June/July after another night of sleeplessness, I was meditating around 5.00 am when the Holy Spirit directed to take a look at the sick fowl.

He told me that the afflictions that I will notice on the left side of the face of the fowl were meant for me. A subsequent look at the fowl showed that the whole of the left face, including the skull, the ear, the eye and the jaw were all smashed in and were useless. By that time I had not have the post-physiotherapy eye problems.

Certainly God had stilled the hands of the enemy and devourer, limiting his affliction. A further insight into the dimension of the enemies attack on my body and ministry was given when a number of co-minister friends came to pray with me one day.

As one of them deduced the enemy intended to destroy my brain, the seat of knowledge and understanding, the ear from where I hear from the Lord, the eye for spiritual insight and vision and the jaw from speaking, declaration and ministration. Clearly, a comprehensive and strategic attack on my being and ministry was planned from the pit of hell.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE BRETHREN.

One of the greatest experiences during my affliction was the love, care and prayerful support of the church. Many brethren I never knew of, from all over the country and beyond raised intense spiritual warfare on my behalf. Students, friends and colleagues of my wife and I, partners and members of our ministries and churches, Christian relatives and neighbors visited or raised sustained prayer backing.

A group of Wailing Women embarked on a seven-day prayer and fasting period. One of my students staying wit a veteran campus Christian professor took the prayer home and every day for months prayers were said.

Words of counsel and encouragement came from the two Christian yahoo groups I moderate – the lampstandletters@yahoogroups.com and the christianveterinariansnigeria@yahoogroups.com.

Some concerned brethren and family members brought their pastors home to minister to me (or took me to the ministers for prayers).

Thus we had ministers from the Chapel of Missions/Christian Missionary Foundation CMF Ibadan, Living Spring Chapel, Gospel Faith Mission, Gethsemane Prayer Ministry, some Christ Apostolic Churches, Mountain of Fire and Miracle MFM, God-Will-Do-it Ministry, Glory Tabernacle, Anglican Churches among others. Some friends in the Catholic Church assured me that they were praying with their rosary for me! I also had to politely decline some invitation to obvious white garment ministration.

Apart from these, Christian leaders and friends such as Reverend Moses Aransiola, Yemi Ayodele, Obed Egbugara, Pastor Emmanuel Kure and Dr Oyor prayed for me at one time or the other.

What came clearly to me was the rich diversity of gifts, calling and anointing available within the body of Christ. Indeed no group has the monopoly of God’s treasures but they are liberally distributed across the body. Some may be more relevant than others at one time or the other.

In my experience, I found the prayers and teaching in the books of Dr Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry most helpful and relevant to the situation I faced.

BITTERSWEET EXPERIENCES.

The period was a bittersweet experience for me. Of course the pains, anorexia, sleeplessness, discomfort and strain were severe and unbearable but for the grace of God.

Then the endless visits to hospitals in four towns for tests and consultations – at times frustrating wait to see doctors and the cost. Painful also was the fact that I could not attend my Dad’s funeral, which fell through the period of the ill health.

The sweet experience begins with the overwhelming love, concern and prayers of the brethren. But the most important experience for me was the realms of spiritual warfare that I was opportune to be involved with. Also His words in the scriptures can alive in my case.

I could now identify with the experience of Job, and understand the frame of mind in which the Psalmist wrote. Such Psalm like chapter 3, 10, 18, 35, 56 and 59 among countless others became practical relevant experience. Also I am now able to write and teach by His grace not only from intuition and inspiration, but also from practical experience!

LESSONS.

Every Christian, especially in the black world must deliberately and purposefully address the fourfold source of affliction I faced viz.

i. The network of the gods of thy father,

ii. The idols of thy native town,

iii. Household wickedness i.e. the members of your family which had aligned themselves with Satan to be enemies to afflict us (Micah 7:6, Matthew 10:36).

iv. Sheer witchcraft attack from within and without (Psalm 27:2, Isaiah 49:26).

Otherwise, they will either limit our lives/ ministry or truncate it at one time or the other. The devil is a patient adversary, stalking and waiting for opportune time to strike at those who dwell in safety (Psalm 10:8).

…But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. (Obadiah 17) Amen.

I need healing by Jesus Christ

Posted on Updated on

If you are sick or wish to deter sicknesses from afflicting you, the word of God is your spiritual medicine.  If we carefully study what takes place in the physical realm, it will be quite easy for us to understand the spiritual.

Unusually, when we fall sick, we go to a Medical Clinic or Hospital for a diagnosis of our sicknesses and a drug prescription. Because the Medical Doctors have been trained  in this area, it is not difficult for them with the help of  medical equipments and tools , to diagnose  the nature of our sickness and prescribe the drugs to cure it. Understanding God’s mercy

Posted on Updated on

Luke 17:11-19:

 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

On his way to Jerusalem, Jesus went along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men with leprosy came toward him. They stood at a distance and shouted, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” Jesus looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.”

On their way they were healed. When one of them discovered that he was healed, he came back, shouting praises to God.

He bowed down at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was from the country of Samaria. Jesus asked, “Weren’t ten men healed? Where are the other nine? Why was this foreigner the only one who came back to thank God?” Then Jesus told the man, “You may get up and go. Your faith has made you well.”

As we go on in our lives, at one point or the other Jesus comes our way. He is ready to make you whole. He is ready to heal you of whatever hurts you have but just like the ten lepers, you have a responsibility to call out to Him for mercy. His ears are open to your cries. Call unto Him today and He will save you. However when he sees you do not forget to go to give him thanks as the Samaritan did.

Do you want to be reconciled with God, through Jesus the Lord and Saviour? Then say this simple prayer:

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and have fallen short of your glory. I genuinely repent from all my sins and pledge to go and sin no more. I accept your plan to reconcile mankind to you through Jesus Christ, who you sent in your name.

I believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, and died on the Cross to pay the penalty for my sins and redeem me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I pray that His blood washes my sins away. I invite the Holy Spirit to rule my Life. I am born again in Jesus name.

I need divine healing from God

Posted on Updated on

Healing is part of what the Lord secured for all when He died on the cross and we have a right to it. It is not His will for anyone to be sick or incapacitated.

It is not His will for anyone to continue through out their life hurting in anyway, being in torment, or addicted to anything. He came to give us abundant life. The Miriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines abundant as: 1) marked by great plenty.

Why did Jesus weep?

Posted on Updated on

“Jesus Wept”, is the shortest verse of the Holy Bible, and it describes the feeling of Jesus when he saw two of his disciples-Martha and Mary weeping over the death of their brother-Lazarus. Several Jews were also gathered weeping and mourning over Lazarus’s death..

This is probably the only verse in the Bible why Jesus is recorded to have wept. But why wasJesus so much groaned in his spirit that he wept?

Jesus wept because he is a compassionate and loving Master who is touched by our infirmities. He shares our sorrows and pains, therefore when he saw two of his disciples mourning; his humane nature caused him to join in the weeping. Jesus was groaned in his spirit and wept in anger against Satan who is the cause of most afflictions including death.

The death of Lazarus was the handiwork of Satan whose chief mission in the world is to steal, to kill, and to destroy (John 10 vs.10). Jesus is not happy about the evils that befall mankind in the world and in contrary to the mission of Satan; Jesus came to destroy all works of Satan and to restore abundant life to all.

Another reason that Jesus wept was because of the unbelief of his disciples- Mary and Martha, and also the Jews gathered in the house mourning over the death of Lazarus. Jesus was actually told of Lazarus sicknesses about two days before his death, but He delayed his coming to Bethany, which Lazarus lived. When Jesus, the miracle worker eventually arrived, Martha the Sister of Lazarus said unto Jesus. “ If thou hadst been here, my brother had not died”.

Even when Jesus responded that: “Thy brother shall rise again”, Martha was unbelieving and said: “I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day” (John 11 vs.24). The Jews who were also gathered there in mourning also expressed similar unbelief when Jesus decided to go to the grave of Lazarus.

But to the glory of God, when Jesus got to Lazarus grave, he commanded the stone that covered the grave to be rolled away, and Jesus commanded the death Lazarus to come forth, and he that was death for several days rose on his feet, and came back to life.

The weeping of Jesus disciples was turned into Joy as Lazarus came back to life.
This is one of the most outstanding miracles of Jesus Christ on earth and aptly demonstrated his divinity, his power over laws of nature, his capacity to bring back to life and resurrect any death being, and also affirms Biblical account that God will on the last day bring every dead back to life to face Judgement, and end up either in heaven or hell. .

Are you weeping over any burdens you are going through? Jesus wept and He is still weeping with you in compassion and because of your unbelief. If only you can become his disciple like Mary and Martha, your tears will turned to joy. If only you can believe in him, you will see the glory of God, and come out of the grave back to life.

Jesus says;” I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me though he were dead, yet shall live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believeth thou this?” -John 11vs.25-26

Prophetic Declarations

I will stop weeping over my afflictions and in turn unto Jesus. Tears cannot bring me out of my problems, only Jesus can. I speak to my spirit today- weep not. I see Jesus intervening in my situation, I see myself coming out of the grave. Though I may dead now financially or physically, I will rise again .
Prayers

Power that resurrected Lazarus from the grave, visit me now in Jesus name.

Jesus, the miracle worker, speak to my deadness now.
Power of resurrection in Christ Jesus, loose me and let me go
I speak to my destiny, come out of the grave in Jesus name.
Spirit of grave and death, release me now in Jesus name

Bible scriptures on healing

Luke 13:10-13 :

American Standard Version (ASV)
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day. And behold, a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up. And when Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

Jesus went ahead to preach in the synagogue on a sabbath day and there He met a woman who had been bent over for eighteen years as a result of an infirmity .Jesus at that moment had compassion upon her and reached out to her and healed her.

You, just like this woman may have been bent over for years. You have been crippled by your fears, you have been crippled physically by an ailment in your body or you have been crippled by a certain indulgence and this has distorted your life.

This woman because of her state could not look anyone in the eyes for eighteen years, she could not stretch to pick something that is higher than her height because she was bent over.

This could be your tale for years, you ‘ve not been able to reach out, you have not been able to stretch to achieve your desires and goals at a higher level, you’ve not been able to stand straight to look at situations in the eye and overcome them, all because you are bent over by an infirmity.

I have good news for you today, Jesus is in the House and He is calling out to you as He did the woman. He wants to heal you of your infirmity. He wants to make you whole, he wants to give you reason to maximize your potentials.

He wants to straighten you up. HE is calling to you today. As you come to Him, He will not despise you, He will not condemn you rather He will stretch forth His hands and say to you: YOU ARE LOOSED FROM YOUR INFIRMITY! and your healing will come.

Do not delay your salvation. Call on Him immediately and let Him do a work in you. Repent of your sins and let Him give you a new life.

Prayers to receive healing

Posted on Updated on

WHAT IS SICKNESS?
Infirmities and sicknesses are anything programmed by the devil against your physical and spiritual peace.

Job 2 vs. 7

FACTS ABOUT DISEASES AND SICKNESSES
Genesis 1 vs. 31: Every God created is good.
1 John 1 vs. 2: Nobody is created with sickness. God is not a sick God. Sickness is not part of God’s blessings for your life.

Isaiah 53 vs. 4-5: Jesus brought life to man.

John 10 vs. 10: Satan is the dark power that originated infirmities… The devil is the enemy that brings sickness.
Luke 13 vs. 10-16: Every infirmity comes form the devil. Sickness is different from stress. No

FORMS OF SICKNESSES
Infirmity of the body.
Infirmity of the soul
Infirmity of the spirit. This is most deadly.

SIGNS OF PROGRAMMED INFIRMITY

  • Carry over of attacks from dreams to the physical world can only be solved by prayers.
  • When a sickness defies medical solution.
  • Periodic sickness- vigorous attacks at a particular time of the day.
  • When your body is working contrary to your health, for instance having sleepless nights or feeling hot during the raining season.
  • A strange movement in your body…objects moving in the body.
  • When your blood level goes up and down.
  • Loss of weight without explanation.
  • When body organs stopped working.
  • When a child experiences a sickness normally associated with adulthood.
  • Experiences of a chain of inherited sickness.
  • Terrible heat in the body.
  • Regular eating in dreams.

DELIVERANCE STRATEGIES
Know Jesus. Behold Jesus.
Deliver yourself from the bondage of sin. Sin is the ladder that the devil climbs to place infirmity in people’s life. You cannot come out of sickness as long as you continue sinning.
Every sickness must be attacked with aggressive prayers. Sickness must never be tolerated. No infirmity is normal and should be handled with levity. Pray in the name of Jesus.
Exodus 23 vs. 25: Live a life of obedience.

This message was preached in Mountain of Fire and Fire Miracles, Ilesa Zonal Headquarters, Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria on December 23, 2007.
