Evil in the Last Days                2 Timothy 3 vs 1

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts

Driving instructors in Holland are now legally allowed to accept sex as payment for lessons.

Dutch driving instructors can now accept SEX as payment

Yes – that’s 100% correct.

The new law, called ‘Ride for a Ride’, has just been introduced by the Dutch government for any student as long as they are over the age of 18.

Prostitution is legal in Holland, if the person has a valid escort licence and pays their taxes on a self-employment basis, with this new law taking things one step further.

But not everyone is impressed by the ruling.

Gert-Jan Segers, from the conservative Christian Union Party, tabled a question to the Dutch parliament saying the practice should remain illegal.

Responding, Netherlands Transport Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen and Justice minister Ard van der Steur said: ‘It’s not about offering sexual activities for remuneration, but offering a driving lesson.

‘It is important that the initiative lies with the driving instructor, and focuses on offering a driving lesson, with the payment provided in sexual acts.

‘When a sexual act is offered in lieu of financial payment, that is prostitution.’

Web searches for ‘Ride for a Ride’ have apparently increased after the law got the green light.

Commentary on Matthew 21 -Cleansing the temple

  1.  One of the highlights of Matthew 21 is how Jesus chased out traders from the temple overthrowing their seats in the process.
  2. Just as the temple of God was desecrated in the times of Jesus, the contemporary church has also been largely desecrated.
  3. Several churches in the modern day, have been turned to business centers by commercial preachers who sell Holy water, Anointing oils, and Holy handkerchiefs to unwary members; and burden them with ceaseless requests for offerings, often diverted for personal aggrandizement.
  4. In several places, spiritual traders have taken over the solemn office of Pastors, Priests, Bishops and Reverends; the gospel has been commercialized with a price tag for the highest bidder.
  5. In several places, money chargers in Bishops cloaks have taken over the pulpit, amassing fortunes in the name of Jesus and trading the souls of men for a crowd of spiritual customers looking for mmiracles like instant coffee.
  6.  Just like in the days of Jesus, political plunderers of our common patrimony now occupy the front rows in churches, as the biggest thieves of public and private wealth are those honoured with the front seats.
  7. Like Jesus, we must rise up to physically and spiritually cast our spiritual traders and businesses men from our churches; we must overthrow them from their front seats, expose, and chase out our common criminals out of the church.
  8. We must pray to reinstate holiness, piety, humility, commonality, brotherliness, humanism, and righteousness to the church.

Bible commentary on Strange woman: My encounter with a ‘strange woman’

Posted on

‘Strangers shall submit unto me’: My encounter with a strange woman

By Babatope Babalobi

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger’– Proverbs 5 vs 20

I never like hotels, unfortunately the nature of my job forces me to sleep in hotels often. Over the past years I have seen misdeeds and evils happening in several hotels- drinking spree, drunkenness, smoking, revelling, wild partying, and various forms of sexual perversion. I have come to regard hotels, largely as the hotbed and melting pot of sin. The class or rating of the hotel does not really matter, acts of unrighteousness do occur in almost all hotels.

As a man, it takes the grace of God to resist the sinful temptations that hotels exhibit, allow, and accommodate. My strategy has always been to stay in my hotel room as much as possible, and cut off from the worldliness that often take place within the premises.

I am presently domiciled in an hotel, and had an encounter with a lady that fits the Biblical description of a ‘strange woman’ See Proverbs chapter 5., few days ago. The hotel is not a brothel, and on a 1-5 rating qualifies as a three-star hotel.

Specifically, last Thursday evening, as I stepped out of my hotel room around 8pm, I was accosted less than 10 metres away by a scantily dressed lady who said she wanted to talk to me. I waited to hear what she had to say. She told me her story, saying she had come to the hotel to meet her boyfriend, but found another lady with him and he didn’t give her attention; as such she was stranded and needed some money to transport herself home.  She wanted me to help her with some money to transport herself.

As she narrated her story, I could see almost all her breasts, popping out of her loose dress. I guessed immediately that there is no truth in her fairy tale. From her enticing and sexy composure, I knew this was a lady of easy virtue looking for a sex partner, in return for a financial reward. My immediate reaction was to walk away.

However, it occurred to me that this lady was offering me with what she has, which is her body, I should also offer her what I have- which is Jesus of Nazareth. One of the principles of life is that if you don’t confess the word, the world will win you over. It occurred to me that this was an opportunity to evangelise and I ceased it by His grace.

I told her that I wish to talk to her, arguing that since I had allowed her to talk to me, she should also allow me to talk to her. She consented and suggested following me to my room which was metres away from where we stood. Of course, I declined knowing fully well – that was a trap and very risky. She them suggested we should go to the Bar, I declined and told her I didn’t mind talking to her, right there on the spot.

To cut a long story short, I told her about the love of Christ. Referring to her story in which she said her boyfriend disappointed her, I told her if she made Jesus Christ her boyfriend, she would never be disappointed. I informed her that I knew she was looking for a sex partner, and counselled her that going out to hotels looking for a sexual partner, in return for financial reward is sinful and an unsustainable source of livelihood. She should also be mindful of the medical risks and dangers involved.

She became crest fallen as I shared the gospel, and was almost crying. She never expected to hear a sermon. To the glory of God, the Holy Spirit arrested her.  She told me she is an orphan with financial challenges. I further told her the wages of sin is death, but Jesus came to carry her burdens, including financial burdens in exchange for abundant life. Finally, I encouraged her to surrender her life to Christ, and to the glory of God she agreed.

I led her through the confessional prayer, but she stopped at the point I asked her to say: ‘I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour’.

She is most likely a Muslim, as she bears the name -Amirat. From experience, I know it takes the grace of God to convert a Muslim. I knew it was the devil that was at work, and explained to her this was the most important confession she had to say in her life.                                                                                 After persuading her to no avail, I warned her that the Holy Spirit was giving her what might be a last opportunity to decide where she would spend eternity, and she just needed to confess the Lord Jesus to be saved.

I told her what is written in Romans 10 vs 9: That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. To the glory of God, she finally said the most important words: I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour.

The story did not end there. I thought I should pray with her. As I raised my voice and covered her with the blood of Jesus, she felled to the ground, and started shouting ‘Leave me alone, Leave me alone’. I knew it was the demon spirits inside her that were speaking.                                                                                               I stood on 2 Samuel 22 vs 45 that says: Strangers shall submit themselves unto me, as soon as they hear me they shall be obedient to me. Strangers shall fade away, they shall be afraid out of their closes places’ and commanded the demons’ spirits to shut up and be silenced in Jesus name.

Of course they did, for there is power in Jesus name and at the mention of his name every knee must bow- Philippians 2vs 10. Next the lady started throwing up as if she wanted to vomit. I cast out the evil spirits inside her in Jesus name. She stopped throwing up and slept off. I called the attention of an hotel staff to take her away. We discovered she was fast asleep on the ground, and had to be sprinkled with water before she woke up. She was later led away.

What lessons can we learn from this story?

  1. The devil is a roaring life looking for who to devour- 1 Peter 5 vs 8. Every Christian has a duty to resist the devil. I believe this lady who accosted me by my hotel room, was programmed from the pit of hell, but God turned it to a testimony.
  2. The Bible says when sinners entice thee, consent thee not- Proverbs 1 vs 10. Let no one say I committed sin by mistake. You have the mind and power to say No to sin.
  3. If you don’t have the word of God, the world will win you over. The Holy Spirit helped me to overcome this sexual temptation because He gave me the grace to preach the word.
  4. Most afflictions are self-inflicted. The lady was evidently demonised. I guessed if I had succumbed to her sexual advances, she would have passed demons into my life in the course of enjoying the pleasures of sin… I may not even be alive to tell the story. When I recounted the story to my wife, she said any lady that manifested in such a manner under prayer, could even turn to a snake on bed. Many people have put themselves into bondages through sins and misdeeds.
  5. Every opportunity is an opportunity to evangelise. She offered me her body, but I countered by offering her Christ. The Bible says the Light shinnneth in darkness, but darkness comprehended it not– John 1vs 4. Darkness will always bow to light.
  6. The harvest is real but the labourers are few. Who would have thought that a sex worker would surrender her life to Christ?
  7. Finally, women need to pray for your husbands not to fall into evil temptations that would not only destroy their lives but their households. Men need to beware. Strange women are on prowl. May God give us the grace to overcome temptations, and may God give us the heart to be soul winners in Jesus name.
  8. In your quiet time, remember to pray for Amirat, lady I met in the city of Yola, Nigeria on April 1, 2016. She must not go back to the world. Heaven is her portion in Jesus name. Our children, wives, and husbands shall be delivered from strange women and men in Jesus name.

Bible on day of rest and worship: Is Sabbath day Saturday or Sunday?

Posted on Updated on

By Babatope Babalobi

  1. A guy called me on the phone yesterday, a Saturday, asking for the address of any Sabbath church in Lagos, Nigeria. He said he worships on the Sabbath, but he has not found a Sabbath church to worship in Lagos.
  2. I asked him why he thought I was the right person to give him the information, and he said he read one of my articles online, which states that the Sabbath day is the biblical day of rest and worship. I further asked him did I specifically mention any day in the article as the Sabbath day? The caller did not respond. I asked him again in that my article, did I mention Saturday or Sunday as the Sabbath day? He did not respond and cut off the phone.
  3. I have gone through my earlier online article on the Sabbath day accessible here: https://christonline.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/when-is-sabbath-day-saturday-or-sunday/ when I said Saturday is ‘arguably’ the day of Sabbath, but I did not say it is the only day of worship.
  4. There is a related article I posted on: https://christonline.wordpress.com/2008/05/23/daily-bible-study-how-to-keep-the-sabbath-day-holy/…but the article is not my opinion but that of a church I fellowship. But the article only said Sunday is not regarded as the Sabbath by some people, the article did not state the Sabbath day, but enjoined readers to read this up in the Bible as an assignment.
  5. In other not to be misread and misinterpreted I will like to make some clarifications based on the scriptures below:
  • Genesis 2 vs 2-3: By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
  • Exodus 20 vs 8- 10: Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.
  • Mark 2 vs 27: Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath’sabbath day
  1. From the scriptures, above it is obvious that the seventh day- the Sabbath is a day of rest and worship.
  2. But nowhere in the Bible is any day -either Saturday or Sunday mentioned as the seventh day.
  3. The early and contemporary Jesus regarded and still regard Saturday as the seventh Day-Sabbath day/Lords day.
  4. Non-Jew Christians preferred to observe Sunday as the seventh day- Sabbath/Lord’s day from the fourth century. See a discussion of this in this link: http://www.christianbiblereference.org/faq_sabbath.htm
  5. But Jesus settled the matter by discouraging any form of legalistic righteousness. Jesus did not observe the Sabbath as the Jews did. Jesus worked on the Sabbath day, he performed miracles on the Sabbath day etc.
  6. Most importantly he said Christians should not allow themselves to be boxed into rules, and regulations about forms, times, or dates of worship, but worship God in truth and in the spirit.
  7. The Jews choose Saturday as Sabbath day, Gentiles choose Sundays as Sabbath day, if tomorrow another people choose a Monday as the Sabbath day of worship or rest, they have not committed a sin.
  8. It is not the day you choose to rest and worship God that matters, what matters is worshipping God in deed and in truth, not only or a particular day of Sabbath, but every day.

Meaning: ‘do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers’-2 Corinthians 6:14:

Posted on Updated on

2 Corinthians 6:14: Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

  1. God does not expect your best friend to be an unbeliever?
  2. God does not expect your business partners to be unbelievers?
  3. God does not expect you to get a husband or wife outside the Church.
  4. God does not expect your confidants to be non-Christians.
  5. While Christians should demonstrate the love of God to non-Christians, this passage simply means Christians should not have any close relationship with non-Christians?
  6. Iron sharpened IronProverbs 27 vs 17. Close fellowship and communion with an unbeliever will not improve your Christian growth and development. Your ideas, tastes, life styles, attractions, etc would be different.
  7. Do not be too close with anyone that does not believe in the God you believe.

Prayer: Strange friends in my life, in the life of my husband/wife, children, be cut off in Jesus name.

‘Thy prayer Is heard’: Lessons from the Bible story of Zacharias and Elizabeth

Posted on

Read Luke 1 vs 5 – 13

  1. Zacharias was a Priest of God, like a Pastor, Reverend father, or Evangelist of these days. (vs5)
  2. His wife, Elizabeth was a daughter of a Priest, so she had a godly ancestry. (vs5).
  3. The Bible describes the couple- Zacharias and Elizabeth as righteous before God. (vs6).
  4. The Bible describes the couple as obedient to God, walking in all the commandments of the Lord (vs6).
  5. The Bible confirms that the couple obey all the ordinances of God (vs6).
  6. The Bible describes the couple as blameless before God (vs6).
  7. In other words, the couple were sinless before God.
  8. The Bible further confirms that Zacharias is diligent in his priestly duties, always taking the prayers of the multitude to God (vs9).
  9. Yet, the couple had no child, as Elizabath was barren (vs7).
  10. The couple remained barren till very old age (vs7)
  11. As I meditated on these passages, some questions occurred to me: Who made or What made Elisabeth barren? Why did a blameless man and woman remained barren till old age? Why did God allow His Priest to remain barren? If Zacharias prayed for multitude of people, and I believe God honoured his prayers, why were his prayers not answered? Why did a sinless couple remained childless almost throughout their lifetime?
  12. The lesson I learnt from this passage is that not all afflictions are caused by sin, or the enemy. Not all unanswered prayers are caused by sin. And there are times God decides not to answer some prayers for reasons best known to him.
  13. The good news is that the story of Zacharias and Elizabeth did not end in barrenness. For the Bible records that at a point in time, an angel of God appeared to him and said: ‘thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shall call his name John’ (vs13).
  14. John later became a great man of God, a fearless evangelist, and the forerunner to the Messiah Christ.
  15. There is a Priest of God, there is a blameless woman, there is a righteous brother, there is a ‘sinless’ couple, there is an obedient servant of God that has remained ‘barren’ in spite of his or her righteousness. It may be spiritual, financial, marital, or academic barrenness. The Holy Spirit is encouraging you to continue to trust, hope, and believe in God in prayers. Zecharias and Elizabeth believed in God and continued in prayer, otherwise the Angel of God would not have told them ‘thy prayer is heard’.
  16. My prayer for you today is that ‘thy prayer shall be heard’ over your family, marriage, work, ministry, finances, and destiny in Jesus name.
  17. You shall not remained barren in Jesus name.

Qualities of a good Christian: Long suffering and Patience

Posted on Updated on

Christianity is easier said than done. You must carry the cross of Christ, and have His qualities, if you wish to be called his disciple

But this man has done nothing amiss- John 34 vs 43

  1. What should you do if you have done nothing amiss, and your friends or colleagues insult or abuse you?
  2. What should you do if you have done nothing amiss, yet you are demoted in the office or even sacked?
  3. What do you should you have done nothing amiss and you are shouted down by your spouse, elders or parents?
  4. What should you do when you have done nothing amiss and you suffer for an offence not committed by you?
  5. What should you do if you have done nothing amiss, yet you are denied a travelling document or even deported?
  6. What should you do if you have done nothing amiss and you are falsely accused?
  7. What should you do if you done nothing amiss, yet you are denied a benefit or entitlement?

Please read Isaiah 30 vs 15; and Exodus 14 vs 14; and Jeremiah 31 vs 11 for answers to this posers?

How to achieve deliverance: lessons from bible story of Jonah

Jonah was a disciImage result for jonah bibleple of God, who fled from the presence of God. There are still many Jonahs in this generation, and this message is to enable us learn from the lessons from the Bible story of Jonah; repent and come back to God.

      By Babatope Babalobi  + 2348035897435 babalobi@yahoo.com

Read Jonah Chapter 1 and 2

  1. Jonah was a man of God, God used to speak to him, and he hears God. (Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah- Jonah 1 vs 1). Several of us use to hear God speak, but that has stopped because of our disobedience.
  • I cast out spirit of disobedience in Jesus name.

  1. Jonah was an evangelist, he had a commission to preach the gospel and intercede for lost souls. (Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it for their wickedness is come up before me- Jonah 1 vs 2). Every Christian was saved to become an Evangelist. But most of us have refused to fulfil our commission. Instead of interceding for souls, we are busy praying on personal issues. We have abandoned the prayer requests of God and refused to answer His prayers; rather we have laboured God with our prayer requests. The spirit of God is calling for repentance today.
  • I receive power to win souls in Jesus name

  1. Jonah, the man of God and Evangelist abandoned his ministry and embarked on tourism. (And he found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish- Jonah 1 vs 3). Jonah was supposed to be winning souls in Nineveh, but he choose to go on tourism to Tarshish. He paid the ship fare forgetting that the God who gave him the money. Several people are no more interested in serving God, rather we like to spend our God given prosperity on worldly pleasures.
  • Carnal desires, die in my life in Jesus name.

  1. Jonah the servant of God disobeyed God. (Arise, go to Nineveh – Jonah 1 vs 2..and he found a ship going to Tarshish- Jonah 1 vs 3). Tarshish is in an opposite direction to Nineveh. There are many Jonahs in this generation who are willingly and stubbornly disobeying divine instructions. The promises of God are tied to obedience. If you are not willing to obey His laws, then you are not qualified to be his servant, disciple, of follower.
  • Love of God, envelop me in Jesus name.

  1. Jonah cut off from God. (But Jonah rose up to flee…..from the presence of the Lord- Jonah 1 vs 3). Can I man run away from his maker? Jonah cut off himself from God, and many Christians are like Jonah running away from the presence of God. They have refused to fellowship with Him. How often or when last do you read your Bible? How many minutes do you spend out of the 1440 minutes in a day to pray, worship, and do other things of God? Many Christians are no more in the presence of God, but now in the presence of mobile phones, Television, movies, etc
  • I cut you off from the world in Jesus name.

  1. God became an enemy to Jonah. (And the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea- Jonah 1 vs 4). Once you leave the presence of God, He allows the enemy to take over. Evils are punishment for wilful disobedience.
  • Spirit of God arrest me, in Jesus name.

  1. Jonah abandoned the altar of prayer. (But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship: and he lay and was fast asleep- Jonah 1 vs 5). Jonah had cut off himself form the presence of God, therefore prayer was no more a necessity. Even when unbelievers, his co travellers were praying to their gods, Jonah was fast asleep. Christians like Jonah has become a sleeping generation.
  • The spirit of God reignite my prayer altar in Jesus name.

  1. Jonah the Evangelist became a lost soul. (So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, what meanest thou, O sleeper? Arise call upon thy God, – Jonah 1 vs 6). Jonah had so backslidden that it was an unbeliever that reminded of his God. Jonah must have been a prayer warrior, for him to be hearing from God as stated in Jonah 1 vs 1. But he had become a sleeping giant. He was not only asleep, when he should be praying and winning souls, the Bible describes Jonah as being fast asleep. Even an unbeliever described him as a What a tragedy!
  • Word of God, confront my problems in Jesus.

  1. Jonah became idolatry. (So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah- 1 vs 7). Jonah fled from God into the arms of Satan. Jonah who used to hear from Go, but He now decided to hear from Satan. Lot casting is idolatry. Jonah the man of God subjected himself to casting of lots, and (after they had casted lots), even Satan confirmed to him that he has abandoned his God. If Jonah had been on the ship to Nineveh rather than the ship to Tarshish, (and a storm had occurred on board), God would have spoken to him about the cause of the stormy winds and he would have prayed the ship into safety. Like Jonah, many of us prefer to hear from false prophets.
  • Powers drawing me to worship the gods of my ancestors, be cut off n Jesus name.
  1. Jonah the evangelist was unknown. (What is thine occupation? –Jonah 1 vs 8.) Normally, an evangelist does not need to be introduced as his soul winning works will speak for itself. If Jonah had preached the word of God to his co- travellers immediately he boarded the tourist ship, they would have known he was an evangelist. But because he kept silent, they never knew who he was. Many of us have kept silent for God for too long. Many of us are ashamed to open our mouth for the gospel. Many of us are not known by our words and deeds to be Christian. Repent and do the work of an evangelist today lest an unbeliever take you for an atheist.
  • Fire of evangelism, fall on me in Jesus name

  1. Unbelievers preached to Jonah. (Why hast thou done this?- Jonah 1 vs 10). God raised up unbelievers to rebuke and preach to Jonah, because he (Jonah) refused to preach to unbelievers. In this same way, unbelievers asked Jonah why he wilfully disobeyed God, the Holy Spirit is asking us questions: Why are you stealing money from your office, parents, business or church? Why did you allow your friends to take you to a diviner? Why did you allow a man who is not your husband to dis virgin you? Why did you allow that strange girl to penetrate you and take your heart from your family? Why are you cheating on your wife? Why did you lie? Why are you secretly masturbating and watching pornography?  Several other whys?
  • Mercy of God cancel every sin speaking against your breakthroughs in Jesus name.

  1. Unbelievers tried to save Jonah. (Nevertheless, the men rowed hard to bring it to the land, but they could not –Jonah 1 vs 13). Jonah was supposed to be a soul winner, but his body, soul, and spirit was at the verge of being lost. Jonah was supposed to be a deliverer, but at this point he needed deliverance. Jonah was supposed to save others, but because he refused to do this, he was at the end of destruction and needed to be saved. Many problems and difficulties we are experiencing may be self-inflicted as Satan exploits both our ignorance and disobedience.
  • Finger of God save me now in Jesus name

  1. Unbelievers prayed for Jonah. (Wherefore they cried unto the Lord- Jonah 1 vs 14). God raised up unbelievers to pray to Jonah, because he had cut off himself from the presence of God. Jonah the prayer warrior had gone into fast sleep both physically and spiritually, and his salvation was now in the hands of the people he should have saved.
  • I shall not lose my destiny in Jesus name.

  1. Jonah cast into the sea. (So they took Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea- Jonah 1 vs 15). No man can run from the presence of God. No sin goes unpunished. Human beings may break God laws, but God does not break His law. Deliverance comes by casting away unwanted loads. There are many Jonahs in our life that has to be casted away.  There is a sister that needs to cast away indecent dressing. A brother needs to cast out the spirit of lusts. A Pastor needs to cast off spiritual lukewarmness, and a believer needs to cast off worldly friends.
  • I cast off garments of sin in Jesus name

  1. God had mercy on Jonah. (Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah- Jonah 1 vs 17) Even in his unfaithfulness and sin, God decided to have mercy on Jonah. Jonah could have been drown in the ocean, or eaten up by sharks or reptiles, but God closed the mouth of the reptiles, and gave him a home inside the belly of his ‘enemy’. Your disobedience and sin shall not lead to your destruction, and the mercy of God shall shut up every mouth that wants to devour you in Jesus name
  • Mercy of God, deliver me now in Jesus name

  1. God’s grace was on Jonah even in disobedience. (And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights- Jonah 1 vs 17). Jonah had three days of grace inside the belly of the fish to repent. Several people have committed evils, that could have destroyed them both physically and spiritually, but the grace of God is still keeping them alive. God delights in your repentance and salvation rather than destruction. Make use of the grace of God today, as tomorrow may be too late.
  • Grace of God save me now, in Jesus name

  1. Jonah repented of his sins and returned to God. (I remembered the Lord- Jonah 2 vs 7). God is waiting for your repentance. God did not destroy Jonah because He wanted him to repent. Are you willing to repent today?
  • I repent of my sins in Jesus name

  1. Jonah prayed and fasted in repentance. (Then Jonah prayed into the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly- Jonah 2 vs 1) Jonah prayed for three days inside the belly of the fish. I am sure he also combined it with fasting, because in any case, he had no food to eat inside the fish’s belly. Many of us find it difficult to fast, but Jonah fasted in the belly of the fish. I pray you will not wait to be afflicted before you start to fast and pray.
  • Spirit of prayerless, be cast out in Jesus name

  1. Jonah worshipped God in affliction. (But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving- Jonah 2 vs 9). God praised and worshipped God in his afflictions, and this was one of the acts that turned around his captivity. Cries, lamentations, murmurings, unbelief, sorrows etc cannot deliver us from the captivity of life. No matter the nature of your challenges, move God with praise.
  • I kill the spirit of depression in Jesus name

  1. Jonah vowed to God. (I will pay that I have vowed- Jonah 2 vs 9. Jonah vowed to be a good child henceforth, he vowed to work for God, he vowed to do the work of an Evangelist, he vowed to remain in the presence of God, he vowed not to run away to Tarshish when he should be in Nineveh, he vowed not to backslide, he vowed not to disobey God. The God of Jonah is waiting for your vows right now!
  • I vow to serve God.

  1. God delivered Jonah (And the Lord spake unto the fish -Jonah 2 vs 10). Several people are presently in bondages, just as Jonah was in bondage for three days inside a fish; what is your own ‘belly of fish’? Has sin held you captive? Has a strange woman stolen your heart? Is it poverty, failures, delays, or sicknesses? Has God allowed dark powers to hold you captive because of your past wilful disobedience?

I see God speaking to your problems, I see God speaking to your headaches, I see God speaking to your finances, I see God speaking to your womb, I see God speaking to your marriage, I see God speaking to your business, I see God rebuking the strange powers that have held you captive in Jesus name.

  • O God of Jonah, speak to my problems in Jesus name.

  1. God gave Jonah a second chance. (And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land- Jonah 2 vs 10). God gave Jonah a second chance. God caused the fish to vomit Jonah, thereby giving him a second chance, immediately he repented.
  • What do you do when God becomes the enemies of your breakthroughs?
  • What do you do when God himself is sponsoring afflictions into your life?
  • What do you do when God himself decides to fight you?

Your deliverance is at the corner if you could only retrace your steps, fast, and pray, and come back to your maker.

Prayers

  • Swallowing powers, vomit my destiny in Jesus name.
  • Swallowing powers, vomit my marriage in Jesus name.
  • Swallowing powers, vomit my prosperity in Jesus name.
  • Swallowing powers, vomit my children, prosperity in Jesus name.
  • Swallowing powers, vomit my, healing in Jesus name.
  • Dark powers vomit my breakthroughs in Jesus name.

How to become great in life: Lessons from Daniel

Posted on

You can become great in life by positioning yourself for greatness

Read Daniel 1 and 2

Daniel became great in a foreign land, by positioning himself for greatness.

  1. He was captured as a slave and taken to the house of Nebuchadnezzar, an idolatrous king – Daniel 1 vs. 2 – And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.Daniel Bible
  2. Even before King Nebuchadnezzar selected him for training, Daniel was gifted. He had all the qualities the King desired. The King requested for children of Israel who had specific qualities. If Daniel did not fulfill the criteria, he would not have been selected. Maybe thousands of Israelites were taken captive, but only few had the qualities the King wanted.

If God connect you to the presence of a King today, the King may not be able to help you, unless you have something to offer.

King Nebuchadnezzar wanted someone:

  • With no blemish – good moral upbringing
  • Well favoured – good character and relationship skillful
  • Wise
  • Knowledgeable
  • Understand science
  • Confident and bold
  • Teachable
  • Daniel 1 vs. 4 –young men in whomthere was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans.
  1. Though Daniel was give an idolatrous name, he refused to commit idolatry. No one can force you to commit evil – Daniel 1 vs. 7 – To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Danielthe name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.
  2. Daniel purpose in his heart to remain holy. No one commits sin unintentionally – Daniel 1 vs. 8 – But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
  3. Daniel was favoured by God in the eyes of his captives, because he was righteous. Grace does not abound in sin. Daniel received favour from God because he refused to defile himself – Daniel 1 vs. 9 –Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.
  4. God also gave Daniel special gift – interpreting dreams, wisdom and knowledge because he refused to defile himself – Daniel 1 vs. 17 – As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Lessons from the Bible story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

Posted on

Read Daniel 3
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego faced the option of worshiping Satan and live; or refuse to worship Satan and be put burnt to death. They opted for the latter and God intervened and they ended being promoted.

shadrach meshach abednego
What lessons can we learn from the story?
1. There is power in dedication. King Nebuchadnezzar organised a big ceremony and decided to dedicate his image god. Christians should learn to dedicate every of their belongings to the living God with pomp and pageantry.
• I cancel every evil dedication on your life and properties and rededicate your life, family, and businesses to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Jesus name
2. You should learn to worship God with all kinds of instruments. King Nebuchadnezzar brought out cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer and all kinds of musical instruments to worship idol god. How are we worshiping the living God today?
3. Don’t be ashamed to invite or bring your friends to Christ. Open your mouth and tell your friends about Jesus. Nebuchadnezzar brought all his associates to worship an image. He brought Princes, Governors, Captains, Judges, Counsellors, Sheriffs and Rulers of all the Provinces. How many of your colleagues, friends, business partners, associates, relations have you brought to Christ this year?
4. Don’t join the mob to do evil. Avoid negative peer pressure. Stand alone with God instead of joining the multitude to worship devil. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego decided to stand alone and apart from their colleagues – Judges, Princes, Treasurers, Sheriffs etc. who bowed to Satan
5. Be bold and courageous once you are on the right path. Don’t compromise your righteousness out of fear. Stand on what is right even if you are the only one standing.
6. Fear God, not the king. Fear God but honour the king. The three Jews decided to disobey the king’s order and please God rather than obeying the king’s order and displease God. Evil decrees that are contrary to the Bible should not be obeyed.
7. Hold on to God even to the point of death. The three Jews knew whom they believe and were ready to sacrifice their lives rather than deny their faith. How well do you trust God? How strong is your faith in Him?
8. If you hold on to God, He will fight for you. The man that threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into fire were all killed, while Jesus appeared inside the fire to protect his servants.
9. Jesus is always with you in your crises. Jesus appeared inside the fire to prevent his servants from becoming hurt. Jesus is appearing in the fire of a reader of this message today.
10. Unbelievers shall be converted to Christianity when you trust in God. Nebuchadnezzar became an Evangelist when he saw the power of faith.
11. There is a God in heaven who can change the evil decrees. Even Nebuchadnezzar confessed that the Almighty God has changed his word, only the Word of God changeth not.
12. Every test of faith and presentation of righteousness ends in divine promotion. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were meant to be roasted to death but they ended up being promoted.

Prayer:

I refuse to worship Satan!

Jesus, appear in my crises!

Bible commentary on 1 Corinthians 3 vs 16: Christians as temples of God

Posted on

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you1 Corinthians 3 vs 16

Being the temple of God, means being His representation, His image, His living church, His glory, and His Holiness. Of course, you can not be a temple of God without the spirit of God living inside you.

Do you wish to be a temple of God, then become born again. Do you wish to remain a temple of God, then avoid these things.

Things to avoid as a Temple of God

  1. Avoid lying- The temple of God should reflect the truth.
  2. Avoid sexual perversion- Fornication, Adultery, Pornography, Homosexuality, Masturbation. The spirit of God inside you will not join you to sleep with a woman not your wife.
  3. Dress well- Your dressing should be modest, add to your beauty, and glorify God.
  4. Don’t Tattoo your bodies- You are the image of God, don’t deface your body with other images.
  5. Avoid evil- Take control of your heart, and cast out wicked thoughts as they come.
  6. Feed your Spirit- The spirit of God inside your needs to be feed from time to time, with the word of God, godly music, and godly movies.
  7. Avoid Anger- the Spirit of God is meek, watch your tongue, avoid anger, provocation, bless don’t curse etc
  8. Avoid evil company- Watch where you go. Before going anyway, ask yourself, would the spirit of God like to be with me in this place? Flee from ungodly places. Don’t go where Jesus will not go.
  9. Avoid fear- You are a temple of God, you cannot be destroyed by Satan. Avoid fear of sudden death, accident, assassination etc. The spirit of God inside you will keep you from all harm.
  10. Be a good Christian- You are a carrier of God’s spirit. There is God in you, let your character show forth His praises.

Should students or children pay tithes?

Posted on

But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth- Deuteronomy 8 vs 18

About three decades  ago, my Late father was furious with my elder brother because the latter decided to pay  tithes out of the N500 (five hundred naira) bursary awarded my brother by the the Oyo State Government.

My brother was then a student of the University of Ibadan. The argument of my father was that the bursary was not an earned income, and   my elder brother should have devoted it wholly to his expenses on the campus, especially when the family was then in dire financial straits.

Thirty years later, I faced a similar situation.  I normally send pocket money to my son who is an undergraduate of a Nigerian university. Yesterday, he phoned to inform me that he had spent about one third of his pocket money I sent to him few days ago (for the month of May 2015) for church related expenses, including of course, a tithe of the pocket money. The implication of e this is that, I have to send more money before the end of the month, as the church related expenses have eaten into his pocket money.

I did not know how best to respond when he gave me this information. I remembered the situation my late father faced and wondered whether my father (in retrospect) was right or wrong. My first reaction was to inform my son that if he decides to spend the money meant for his feeding and books on church related expenses, then that should be his own business.

But I restrained myself and meditated on the situation. Should I encourage my son to tithe from the pocket money I give him?

I finally decided that I should not discourage him. Though the money he is tithing from is not his earned income, it is a financial increase for him, for which he should remember his Creator in line with Deuteronomy 8 vs 18.

More importantly, it is good to train our children on how to tithe from an early age. When they grow up and start to earn income, they will not have any problem tithing. In any case, tithes should not be paid only from earned income, but an financial increase coming to us. So, in my son case, the pocket money I sent to him represented a financial increase.

In any case, I thought I should not discourage him from building a personal relationship with God.

Also as a friend  counselled, the underlying principle of giving to God, is an expression of God’s love towards God…and any child who is old enough to recognize that and wishes to express it should not be discouraged, but can be guided.

How to make and keep New Year resolutions

Posted on Updated on

Power for Keeping Resolutions
by Evangelist Godwin

It’s December 31st, just few hours away from the New Year, you are set on making a countless number of resolutions again. Most of the resolution goes like this: It’s time to quite smoking and drinking, it’s time to be faithful to my spouse, it’s time to get out of drugs, it’s time to stop spending all my time in the bars and night clubs, it’s time to stop bribery and corruption, it’s time to stop selling my body as a prostitute, it’s time to stop raping and killing innocent people, it’s time to flee from sexual immorality, it’s time to escape from pornographic bondage.
The list is endless. Resolutions upon resolutions! You make unprecedented vows never to do those things again. Lo and behold! It is just one week into the New Year you did them again. In fact, you even got worse than you were before the resolution.

In your helpless and confused condition you shout within yourself, “who shall deliver me from this burden of sin.” Dear friend, there is only one way out: Jesus Christ. No amount of resolutions will stop you from sinning. The power to cleanse and forgive you is in Jesus. Jesus Christ said, “come unto me all ye that labor and heavy laden, I will give you rest.” Looking for freedom from the bondage of sin? Jesus Christ is closer than you think. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.”

In this coming New Year, do not take God for granted. Do not use the excuse of the fact that God is merciful to continue in your deliberate sinful disobedient to God. Remember that God is also a God of judgment. Why not use this time to go quietly go on your knees and asked the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart.
new year resolutions
Jesus says in Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” This is an awesome opportunity to open the door of your heart and let the Lord of the New Year, Jesus Christ, to come into your life.

Dearly beloved, remember that as we approach the New Year, the biggest and the most important resolution you can make is to walk closer with God. Remember that you have no power of your own to make your resolutions to become a reality. Lay it all at the feet of Jesus and He will give you power to keep all your resolutions.

Blessed are your eyes for reading this message. Please, don’t let this message die, read it again and pass it to others. We will meet in heaven if you do them.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

How to control/overcome anger, bitterness, and depression

Posted on

Psalm 30 vs 5: His anger lasts only a moment

  1. Several scriptures in the Bible records God as being angry especially against His enemies and those that disobey him.
  2. But the goodnews is that His anger lasts only for a moment, and His mercies endureth for ever.
  3. It seems unbelievable that God could only be angry for just a moment.
  4. If His anger lasts only for a moment, it means this moment He is angry, the next moment, He is happy with you.
  5. How long does your anger last?
  6. For some of us it is a lifetime, for some of us it is  for some of us it is a decade, for some of us if is for years, for some of us it is  for months, for some of us it is for weeks, for some of us it is for days, for some of us it is for minutes, for some of us it is for seconds.
  7. If your anger lasts more than a moment, know that you have not met the pass mark.
  8. Anger that last for a moment may be a disqualification from making heaven.
  9. May our angers not take us to hell in Jesus name
  10. May God give us the grace to forgive, the moment we are offended in Jesus name

How to overcome temptations: If sinners entice thee..

Posted on

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent- Proverbs 1 vs 10

  1. The commonest form of enticement is money, getting money illegally. Money that you are not legitimately entitled. Bribery and Corruption are twin sisters in this regard.
  2. You can be enticed by a woman to fulfill a sexual lust. This may ultimately need to various forms of sexual perversion.
  3. You can be enticed by naked photographs of strange women- pornography.
  4. You can be enticed by greed, getting more than you require, more than you are entitled, more than you need, or more than is fair to you.
  5. You can be enticed by jealousy and envy to commit sins in order to live ‘big’ like  your friends and peers.
  6. You can be enticed by evil friends, unbelievers, and sinners. Watch your friends. If you move with sinners, you will likely end up being enticed.
  7. You can be enticed by an adventurous spirit.  You just want to try smoking, and try drinking strong wine to have an idea of how it feels. Sins are to be avoided, not to be experimented.

Prayer: I receive power today to overcome sin in Jesus name

Sermon: Evils of Television programmes

Posted on

Ephesians 5:16 King James –

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Televisions as a bondage

There are several positive and negative sides of the Television. Since we all know the positive side, this article shall dwell on the negative sides, and how we need to carefully handle this to avoid its repercussions.

television evils

  1. Television could become an addiction, taking of your interests and attention from other necessary duties.
  2. Television could gradually break the bond between a nuclear, as they are more tuned to programmes being aired rather than communicating between themselves.
  3. Television could become a time waster, if we spent most of the time watching entertainment Programmes that don’t have value to our lives.
  4. Television could decrease productivity, if we stay glued to Programmes instead of reading, working, studying, or praying.
  5. Television could decrease our spiritual growth as there is always one programme or the other to watch, which takes off the time we should spend reading the bible or praying. Have you ever considered the time you spend watching Christian programmes compared to other non-christian programmes?
  6. Television could kill our prayer life, especially night prayers; as it is very difficult to pray after watching movies and programmes till late night.
  7. Television programmes could subtly introduce sin, lust, idolatry, godlessness, lust, and evil spirits into a home or family as most of the ‘action, adventurous, and romantic’ movies we love to watch are really glorifying Satan. There is no neutral television programme, it is either it is glorifying God or Satan.
  8. Television could be a time waster; as addiction to its programmes could decrease human productivity. If you are football fan, you are likely spending your Saturday and Sunday afternoons/evenings watching Premiership games, La liga, etc.
  9. Football could become idolatry. Millions have turned football clubs into their gods and football stars into their idols. Football has taken our attention from God into clubs. People are now more passionate about football and sports rather than Christianity. And the Television is the chief medium that binds the human race to this new religion.
  10. Television reduces family income that could have been better spend on essentials. Many people pay more to watch games in viewing centres or to subscribe to cable channels offering favourite programmes. I used to have a neighbor who prefers to go hungry and save money in order to watch English premiership games. Even when he could not put food on the table for his household, he would still be able to raise money to watch premiership games at viewing centres.
  11. Television could reduce the productivity of our children. Have you noticed that school pupils find it difficult to do their homework these days, as they are addicted to mobile phones and television programmes?
  12. Television could breed laziness, disobedience, idleness, and bad manners at home. Parents now find it difficult to take the attention of their children off the television. When you are talking to them- they are watching television; when you send them on errands- they are glued to the television; and even when they are eating—they are still busy watching television programmes intermittently.
  13. Television could reduce moral standards at homes. Television movies are full of sex, money, and status. Kids watch it with or without parental consent. Children have become exposed to kissing, love making, etc at a very young age, and there is a tendency for them to wish to practice what they are seeing.
  14. May God deliver us from evil television programmes in Jesus name

By Pastor Kosmi Ilegogie

Reference texts: Acts Chapter 2 vs 4; James 1 vs 14-15; Ephesians 5

1. Dont allow anything to keep your from the Word of God.

2. Dont allow anything to keep you from the altar of prayer.kosmi

3. Always be joyous in Christ. Have a personal joy pattern. Sometimes just rejoice without musical instruments. Dont depend on musical instruments before you rejoice.Always dance for joy with or without musical instruments.

4. Always pray in the Holy Ghost. When you are filled to the spirit it is easy to submit, but when you are full of the flesh, you wouldn’t be submissive.

5. Avoid lusts and rebellion- Lust is love for which is forbidden. Rebellion is resistant to lawful authority and refusal to accept authority. Prayers and the Word of God are two things that will keep you from the state of lusts and state of rebellion. Lust is watching English Premiership League, when you are supposed to be in Church. The Bible warns you to flee from youthful lusts!

6. Always declare God’s goodness and Wonderful works

7. Set your affections on things above.

I am not unlawful, I am not rebellious, I stay under authority in Jesus name.
