Christmas sermon: The birth of Jesus

Posted on Updated on

Luke 2 vs. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour is born which is Christ the Lord –

  1. When God created the earth as recounted in Genesis 1, man was sinless.
  2. Man was also supposed to live forever in fellowship with God. But this was based on one simple condition- man must worship God and obey his commandments.
  3. In creating man, God gave man the freewill to decide on his choices, between good and bad, right or wrong.
  4. Unfortunately, the first man-Adam, lured by his wife- Eve (acting under the influence of Satan a fallen angel of God) disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Even- Genesis 3.  God had commanded that both of that must not taste of this fruit.
  5. As a result of this sin ( act of disobedience) , man fell from the favour of God, lost the opportunity of living for ever, and came under the dominion of Satan who influenced man to act contrary to God.
  6. Since Adam and Eve were the first human beings that were created, every of their offspring (now including you and I) automatically inherited the genetic sinful from them, lost the opportunity of living on earth forever, and also came under the influence and dominion of Satan.
  7. Sin became a debt man owned to God, and every man that was being born through a biological process inherited this debt. If let unchecked, man would be under the dominion of Satan forever. The penalty or punishment to be paid for this sin is death, both physically and spiritually.
  8. God is fair, and would not bend rules even in his own case. Though he was saddened by the downfall of man, he had to work out a fair way of redeeming man from his debt. Read the rest of this entry »

John 8 vs. 12 I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life

Are you for Christmas light? There is a light that illuminates not only your homes but your life. There is a light that would be useful for you not only during the Christmas season but throughout the year.

Jesus says he is the light of the world. This is a powerful self testimony from a person whose birth causes the world to stand still on the 25th of December of every year, and whose message changed the destiny of the whole world.

When Jesus calls himself the light of the world, what does it means?

1.         It means, he is the only one and only through his name could anyone overcome all works of darkness such as sickness, crime, wars, assassinations, sins, abortions, homosexuality, and greed.

2.         It means he is the person that gives you life, and if you reject him, you will become a victim of Satan.

3.         Jesus is the light of the world, because only belief in his name can guarantee you a place in heaven, otherwise you are doomed to darkness which symbolizes hell. Read the rest of this entry »

Commentary on Matthew 19: Why a rich man may not make heaven

Posted on Updated on

By Babatope Babalobi +2348035897435 babalobi@yahoo.com

Matthew 19 vs. 23- Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

  1. A rich man that puts his trust in the riches to solve all his problems instead of trusting God may not make heaven.
  2. Money may become his god. A rich man that devotes their time, energy, and power to make money rather than serving God may not make heaven.
  3. A rich man that believes money can solve all his problems may become godless and lose heaven.
  4. A rich man may become too busy managing his riches that he has no time for the things of God like reading the bible, praying, and fellowshipping with believers.
  5. Some rich men might have committed sins (bribery and corruption, murder etc.) to accumulate and sustain their riches.
  6. A rich man who does not have compassion for the poor and does not share/spend his riches on the poor may be committing a sin.
  7. It is almost impossible to become rich in this world without committing a sin or making covenant with the devil along the way.

Prayer

God of heaven give me riches that will not kill me in Jesus name

Commentary on Matthew 18: Qualities of a good child/kid

By Babatope Babalobi +2348035897435 babalobi@yahoo.com

Matthew 18 vs. 3-4

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.  4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus said whoever wants to make heaven must have the qualities of a child. What are these qualities that every Christian should imbibe?

Image result for children

  1. Children are humble; you therefore need to overcome pride and arrogance.
  2. Children are innocent; you need to pray for God to turn your wordly wisdom to foolishness.
  3. Children are meek; you need to deliver yourself from spirit of anger if you wish to make heaven.
  4. Children are forgiving; you must ensure you forgive all that rightly or wrongly offend you.
  5. Children have absolute faith in the word of their Daddy. You should have faith in God and put your trust in him.
  6. Children are trustworthy; you need to cast off deceit from your life.
  7. Children don’t bear grudge or malice; you must have same character and spirit.
  8. Children love everyone, young and old, male or female. You need to have compassion and love all.
  9. Children are not anxious about tomorrow, but cast their worries on their father. You need to kill the spirit of anxiety and worry.
  10. Children are teachable; you must be obedient and diligent.
  11. Children are obedient; pray and cast out the spirit of rebellion and disobedience.
  12. Children are not covetous, materialistic or desire riches or wealth. You need to kill the love of money which the bible describes as the root of all evils.
  13. Children are free minded and play with anyone. If you wish to make heaven don’t harbor or cultivate grudge against anyone.

Why does God allow evil things to happen and evil people to prosper?

God

Is there really a God? Is God a fact or fiction? If God exists why is my life in such a mess? Why is so much suffering in the world? Why has is so much evils and wickedness in the world if there is a God? These are common questions in the mind of several people

Genesis 1 vs. 31 – Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

  1. The word of God makes us to realise that all things God created are good
  2. God does not create evil unless as a tool of punishing anyone that challenges His powers and disobeys His laws.
  3. If there are no punishment for disobeying God, if there are no evils as rewards of sin, I guess very few people will obey the commandments of God.
  4. The words of God is that no evil shall befall you (Psalm 91) if you serve and obey the Lord.
  5. God allows evils to happen to anyone that willingly disobeys hid laws.
  6. If you see any evil around you or experience any evil, know surely that this is from the devil not God
  7. You need to stand against any evil, reject it, cancel it and pray against it
  8. Don’t allow yourself to be cheated by the devil who sponsors and spreads evils
  9. If you are a child of God, you have been empowered to overcome evils (1 John 5 vs 4) For anyone born of God overcomes the world
  10. I rebuke and speak against every evil works against your life in Jesus name
  11. Let goodness and mercy pursue you daily in Jesus name.

The common argument by atheists is that if there is really a God, then we should not have evils in this world. 4. God created Satan, the author of all evils. And God at times allow Satan to afflict Christians as a test of faith.

Success in Life: How do I succeed in business?

Posted on

By Babatope Babalobi  babalobi@yahoo.com +2348035897435
It is the desire of every man to become successful in Business. What are the biblical principles of success? What can we learn from the scriptures on how to succeed in Business?success in business success in life
  • Genesis 10 vs. 32These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
  • In the beginning God created the earth as one body, one continent. What we know today as five continents were not separated by joined together, as one big earth.
  • Later on God divided the earth into what has now become five separated continents.
  • Why did God divide the earth? God wanted people to scatter and fill all parts of the earth, but the first men refused preferring to stay at the same spot as one nation and one people.
  • This was not the original plan of God and He therefore redesigned and divided the earth into five separate continents inorder to fulfil his original destiny.
  • There is a lesson for us here- we should continuously review your work to redesign it and make changes to cope with new challenges.
  • To succeed in your business you have to be dynamic. God redesigned the earth to cope with new challenges. Redesign your pattern of doing things to attract new customers.
  • Many of us have refused to acquire additional educational qualification whereas we are in a society where the more your higher certificates, the higher your income. Many of us have refused acquire new skills and knowledge for our job and business whereas there are new innovations by the minute in this internet age.
  • If you are a Photographer, there is a new way of taking pictures; if you are a Caterer,  there is a new way of baking cake and making pastries; if you are a student, you can learn new things online; if you are businessman, you can now order goods online to be shipped to you; if you are tailor, hairdresser, or even a Barber, there are new styles for fabrics, hairdos and hair cuts respectively.
  • Get new education, get new training, get new skills, harness the power of the internet to learn new things, be different, and you are on your way to success in Business.
  • Prayer: Holy Spirit, make me the best in Jesus name

Sermon on Bible scripture: Ye are Gods

Posted on

What does the Bible in Genesis 1 vs 27 and Psalm 82 vs 6 by “Ye are gods’? Why does God call human beings gods?

  • Genesis Chapter 1 vs. 27 says:  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
  1. If God created you in His image this means you have the attributes of God. And the attributes of God includes power of imagination, creativity, innovation, deep thinking, excellence and ingenuity.
  2. It is important for you to know that you are created as a human being not an animal. You have a brain and intelligence higher than all other creatures of God
  3. Most of our daily problems can be solved through deep thinking and meditation. God gave you brain to think, use it today.faithtrustgod
  4. There is a time to pray, and there is a time to think. God cannot do all your thinking for you.
  5.  I challenge you to think deep and come out with ideas that will solve your problems and move you forward.
  6. Most times, we worry about our problems and expect God to come with the solutions. But you are created in the image of God, and you have the power of imagination and creatively to come up with solutions and ideas to progress.
  7. This day, I encourage you to look for a quiet place and spend some quiet time thinking about the options and alternatives to move your life forward.
  8. You are a god. So think like a god today.
  9. Go ahead, explore your virtues, skills and talent and manifest His works today. As you think and meditate, the Holy Spirit shall give you new ideas, broaden your imagination, remind you of new things, tell you the truth, teach you the solutions, and direct you in Jesus name

Sermon: Should Christians celebrate Halloween?

Posted on

(Evangelist Godwin deeperlife2003@yahoo.com)

Halloween, a festival that is commonly celebrated on October 31st in the United States, is associated with paganism, witchcraft and Romanism and yet most professing Christians are found participating in related activities. Some churches will even cancel services when Halloween falls on Sunday, so that their members may be free to celebrate (http://www.baptistpillar.com/bd0222.htm).

I once asked someone what he thought about Halloween and his answer was quite straight forward, intriguing, and meaningful. He said most people that participate in Halloween dressed like monsters and that makes them looked like monsters. Out of curiosity, I checked out the real lexicon meaning of the word “monster.” It means a person that is exceptionally evil. Therefore, it would be a fatal shame to see any professing Christian participate directly or indirectly in this evil celebration of Halloween.

A common proverb says, “It is ignorant that makes the rat to call the cat into a fight.” The Bible says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Can’t common sense appeal to the spirit of God in us that God despises anything that glories darkness and evil? Can a supposed Christian pay obeisance to God and the devil at the same time? Can we invite Jesus Christ and the devil into our houses at the same time? Impossible! You must make a decision right now. You can’t participate in Halloween and Easter at the same time. The former is related to darkness and the worship of Satan, while the later is related to light signifying the death, burial and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Some churches have device a means by participating in Halloween indirectly by simply distributing candies to children on the same day of Halloween event, calling it “Candy Hunt.” What difference does it make? It is also called “Halloween Candy Hunt” in the world.

Embarking on Halloween celebration (directly or indirectly) would open up the door for all kinds of strange events in our lives, homes, and churches. More than likely many Christians are being tormented as a result of their direct or indirect involvement in the celebration of Halloween. Thank God it is not too late to make a complete U-turn.

You can unilaterally decide to dissociate from this evil practice today. Such a decision might make you unpopular. It might spark the wrath of others against you. What does it matter? I rather be a radical Christian and make it to heaven than to be a passive and permissive Christian and end up in the bottomless pit of hell. Break up the fallow ground and disengage from the practice of Halloween. Light and darkness can never walk together. Are you on the Lord’s side?

Sermon: Relationship between Saint Peter the Apostles and Jesus Christ

Posted on Updated on

Apostles+Peter+and+Paul-1024x768-10605

1.     He was personally called by Jesus Christ into the ministry, to become fishers of men. –  Mathew 4 vs. 18-1918 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.  19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

2.     He initially obeyed Jesus immediately and followed him. – Mathew 4 vs. 20And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

3.     He is regarded as the first of the Apostles of Jesus – Mathew 10 vs. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

4.     Jesus anointed him and the other disciples giving them power over unclean spirits, and to do miracles- Mathew 10 vs. 1And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

5.     Jesus appointed him and other disciples as Evangelists and commissioned them as soul winners- Mathew 10 vs. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

6.      He tried to perform the miracle of walking on the Sea like Jesus, but his faith failed him. – Mathew 14 vs. 29- 31 – 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

7.     Jesus blessed him. – Mathew 16 vs. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

8.      Jesus changed his name from Simon Barjona to Simon Peter. Peter means rock. – Mathew 16 vs. 17- 1817 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

9.      Jesus prophesized that Peter will be the leader of the new Church of Christ-  Mathew 16 vs. 18 – 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

10.  Jesus further anointed Peter, giving him powers to bind and lose anything on earth and in heaven. – Mathew 16 vs. 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

11.  He was one of the closest disciples to Jesus, he was one of the three that witnessed the transfiguration of Jesus on a high mountain- Mathew 17 vs. 1And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

12.  Jesus prophesized that Peter will deny him. – Mathew 26 vs. 34Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

13.  He vowed never to deny Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 35 –  Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples, even at the risk or point of death.

14.  He was sleeping when he should be watching and praying. – Mathew 26 vs. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

15.  He could not intercede for Jesus for one hour. – Mathew 26 vs. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

16.  He could not stand up and pray at night. –Mathew 26 vs. 43And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

17.  He was resting when he and other disciples should stand up and pray. – Mathew 26 vs. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

18.  Jesus became disappointed by his prayerlessness and that of the other disciples; mocking them to sleep on. – Mathew 26 vs. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

19.  He denied being disciple of Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 70  But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest

20.  He denied on oath ever knowing Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 72And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

21.  He denied ever following Jesus, and placed a curse on himself if it was so. – Mathew 26 vs. 74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

22.  Jesus appeared to him and others and imparted them with the Holy Ghost- John 20 vs. 22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23.  Jesus appeared to him and other disciples and showed them many signs so that they may believe. – John 20 vs. 30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

24.  He led about six disciples to abandon the work of God for secular work, fishing for money instead of fishing for souls. – John 21 vs. 2- 3 – There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

25.  He labored and made losses because he abandoned the work of God. – John 21 vs. 3Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

26.  He does not recognize Jesus again because he was engrossed in worldly pursuits. – John 21 vs. 4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

27.  Jesus mocked his foolishness, not knowing he cannot not make money without the help of God.  – John 21 vs. 5  Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

28.  Jesus stepped into his situation. – John 21 vs. 4But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

29.  He received divine direction on how to become successful in business. – John 21 vs. 6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

30.   Jesus asked Peter thrice, if he truly loves him. – John 21 vs. 15-18 15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

31.  Jesus urged Peter to win Souls for him, rather than pursuing money. – John 21 vs. 15- 1715 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep

32.  Jesus prophesized the future of Peter. – John 21 vs. 18Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

33.  Peter fulfils destiny, began his ministry, and led the disciples to organize the first crusade, revival, evangelism, and gave the first sermon to the new church. – Acts of the Apostles 2 vs. 14 – 47.

Bible on giving offering in church

Posted on Updated on

Mark 12 vs. 43-44 – 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

  1. God is not impressed necessarily by the fatness of your offering, but by the quality
  2. Any offering that does cause you some pain and sacrifice will not provoke the attention of heaven.

Prayer

  • I shall not be stingy towards God in Jesus name

Breakthrough prayers: God I need godly money

Posted on Updated on

John 9 vs. 1-9 – And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

M – Many shall die because of money

O – On me shall every body depend

N – None shall live without me

E – Engage me with all evils

Y – Yes I am the root of all evils

Genesis 34 vs. 1-4 – And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel. And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

  1. Choose your friends carefully. Don’t associate with ungodly friends
  2. When you are visiting your friends, male or female, always go in company of someone you trust that can protect you. In this passage, Dinah went to see her female (not male) friends, yet she was sexually assaulted.
  3. Avoid walking around visiting people; you can see anyone you wish for in church or school.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, choose my friends for me in Jesus name.
