What is the spirit of the Lord?

Posted on

By Babatope Babalobi

Acts 1 vs. 8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

1 Samuel 10:6 The Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person

Works of the Holy Spirit

  1. In the beginning, when the earth was void and full of darkness, God used the Holy Spirit to recreate the earth and brought light out of darkness.

Genesis 1 vs 2 – And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

  1. It was this same Holy Spirit that fell upon Othniel the first judge of the Israelites and he was able to deliver Israel from the hands of their enemies Chushan-rishathian the king of Mesopotamia.

Judges 3:10The Spirit of the LORD came on him, so that he became Israel’s judge and went to war.

  1. It was this same Holy Spirit of the Lord that came upon Gideon, causing him to blow a trumpet and he successfully mobilized the Israelites to overcome Medianites that were tormenting and oppressing them.

Judges 6:34Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet

  1. When the Spirit of God came upon Japheth, he was able to confront the children of Ammon who were oppressing the Israelites.

Judges 11:29Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

  1. Samson was a man who was able to do extra ordinary things when the Spirit of God fell upon him. The Bible recalls that the Spirit of God came mightily upon Samson and he was able to slew thirty men, he killed a lion with his bare hands, and he destroy a stadium with his physical strength Judges 14:19, bringing the whole stadium down, with the jaw bones of an axes, he slew a thousand men, he was able to tear a lion into pieces.

Judges 14:6  And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

  1. When the Spirit of the Lord came upon King Saul, he was turned into another man and started prophesying.

1 Samuel 10:6The Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person

  1. The same Spirit of God came upon David when he was anointed by Samuel and he became transformed from a sheep boy into a king of the nation.

1 Samuel 16:13So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon

  1. In the New Testament, on the day of Pentecost, the Bible recalls that the apostles were visited with the fire of God. They were filled with the spirit of God and they started speaking in new tongues. Therefore, when the spirit of God falls upon you, you will speak in a new language.

Acts of Apostles 2 vs 1– And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

  1. Jesus Himself was visited by the spirit of God. The Bible recalls that after His baptism at river Jordan, He was anointed by heaven; He became full of the Holy Spirit and became led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness,

Luke 4 vs. 1Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into[a] the wilderness,

  1. It was this same spirit of God that visited Mary. It was this same power of Holy Ghost that came upon her turning she who was a virgin into a pregnant woman.

Luke 1 vs 35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

  1. When the Spirit of God fell upon Elizabeth, she conceived even at an old age.

Luke 1 vs 41When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabethwas filled with the Holy Spirit

  1. When the spirit of God fell upon Elijah, he was able to stop rain from falling for three years, he was able to command fire to fall down from heaven, he was able to command rain to start falling again after three years, he was able to run faster than the king who was riding on a horse at a point of death, he was carried into heaven in a wild fire, I Kings and II Kings.

1 Kings 18 vs 46And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

  1. When the spirit of God came upon Moses, he was able to confront and disgrace Pharaoh and his horses and riders,

Numbers 11 vs 25And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease

  1. When the spirit of God fell upon Prophet Ezekiel, God opened his eyes and he was able to see the glory of God

Ezekiel 3 vs 12: Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place

  1. Jesus Christ Himself testify that it was because of the spirit of the Lord that is upon Him that he’s able to preach the gospel, heal the sick, deliver the captives, give sight to the blind and give liberty to those who are in captivities

Mathew 3 vs 16.  16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him oppressed, Luke 4 vs. 8

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

  1. It was this same spirit of God that fell upon Philip taking him away in the wild wind and dropping him in another location.

Acts 8 vs 39 –  When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Why do we need the Holy Spirit?

  1. Do you need power in your Christian word, then you need the Holy Spirit. The spirit gives spiritual power enabling His carriers to become spirit champions, Acts 1 vs. 8
  2. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you become bold and courageous. Apostle Peter was able to preach the gospel to the Pharisees and Sanhedrin because he was filled with the Holy Ghost, Acts 3 vs. 8
  3. The Holy Spirit helps you to pray. The Holy Spirit turns you to a prayer warrior and you are able to touch the heavens with your prayers. The Bible recalls that when the apostles who are filled with Holy Ghost prayed, the place where they were meeting shook and  they  were able to speak the word of God boldly, Acts 4 vs. 31.
  4. The Holy Spirit enables you to see the glory of God. The Bible recalls that when apostle Stephen was being stoned to death, even at that point of death, he looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, Acts 7 vs. 55
  5. The Holy Spirit enables you to see deep mysteries and revelations. It was the Holy Spirit that directed Ananias to visit brother Saul and restore his sight, Acts 9 vs. 17
  6. The Holy Spirit gives you power to do miracles. Ananias was able to restore the sight of brother Saul because of the power of Holy Ghost in him, Acts 9 vs. 17
  7. Jesus Christ started His miracles after the Holy Ghost fell on Him at river Jordan, Luke 4 vs. 1
  8. Apostle Paul who the Bible described as being filled with the Holy Ghost was able to silence Bar-Jesus the sorcerer, Peter was able to shake off the python that had fastened itself on his hand because of the Holy Ghost in him, Acts 28 vs. 5. The Apostles were able to do diverse sign and wonders because of the Holy Ghost in them, and Apostle Paul’s handkerchief and shadow became vessels for miracle because Paul was full of thee Holy Ghost.
  9. The Holy Spirit gives you the spirit of wisdom, understanding, knowledge and direction, Isaiah 11 vs. 2
  10. When the Holy Spirit falls upon you, you become an evangelist, bold, and willing to preach the gospel, to rebuke sin and preach holiness to all the ends of the earth. Micah 3 vs. 8, Luke 4vs. 18
  11. The Holy Spirit gives you the power to overcome temptation. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you cannot backslide or fall into sin. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will be able to withstand all the temptations of the devil.
  12. If Jesus Christ has not received the Holy Spirit at river Jordan, He would not have been able to withstand the temptation of Satan in the wilderness. Luke 4 vs. 1
  13. The Holy Spirit cancels your losses and bring to pass something that seems hard, impossible and beyond comprehension. Mary a virgin conceived without union with a man.
  14. The Holy Spirit enables you to speak in a language of the spirit, Acts 2 vs. 4

How do you receive the Holy Spirit?

  1. Become born again: When you become born again, you become born of the spirit.
  2. Live a life of complete and uncompromising holiness, run away from all appearances of sin.
  3. Desire the Holy Spirit fervently and strongly
  4. Become completely obedient to the instruction of God.
  5. Be ready to serve God with all your money, time and energy
  6. Overcome these three things, the love of money, the love of women and overcome pride and arrogance
  7. Kill your flesh, kill canal desires and worldly desire. Set your heart on thing of the spirit.
  8. Be filled with the word of God
  9. Pray fervently and always.
  10. Combine prayer with fasting
  11. Become a soul winner: Do the work of an evangelist.
  12. Sing hymns, song and psalms to the Lord, become worshipper.

Memorise: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Read: Luke 15:17-19

prodigal-sonTo ride on horse back is unusual progress. Effortless progress is quite an exciting experience. Who would not want to come to church when you know that the blind could see, the lame could walk or you will receive a miracle judging by past services? The presence of the miraculous has a way of spicing people’s enthusiasm to attend church meetings.

On the other hand, why won’t people lose interest in coming to church when they know it is the same praises, sermon or activity? Nothing is as spiritually killing as a cold Sunday sermon. Ministers must pay the price to deliver life-giving sermons to the congregation. In the Early church, they had great services both in the temple and in house fellowships. It was glorious progress because the leaders were riding on the back of the Holy Spirit.

Struggling stops the moment you ride on the back of the Holy Ghost. If only we can allow the Holy Spirit to carry us instead of carrying ourselves, the world will see remarkable exploits they never imagined. This is because riding is next to flying.

What can a trekking prince do to get back on the horse? First, find out what you did wrong that got you displaced. This calls for frank and unbiased personal examination. Ask yourself, where did things go wrong? Once you discover this, acknowledge your fault like the prodigal son. Willingly retrace your steps and make amends.

You would need the help of somebody greater than you to help you unseat the servant that is riding your horse because that servant would do anything to prevent a return to trekking. In the case of Samson, he cried to the Almighty God for help (Judges 16:28-30). Some time ago, our church was increasing by about 100 people every one or two months. I thought we were doing great but one day, God told me I was trekking instead of riding. Then He reminded me of the glorious days when the two of us will be chatting in my car.

Sometimes, I would stop the car just to discuss with Him. So He asked when last that happened? I apologized and put things right. That marked a new beginning for me. As you reconcile and restitute, and the Lord puts you back on the horse, keep all servants where they belong. Your flesh is your number one servant. It must be kept under (1 Corinthian 9:27).

Also, always remember to remain under the authority of the One who can lift up and pull down. Or else, no servant will want to obey you. In addition, pray without ceasing ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). If you cannot pray, you are indirectly telling God you do not need Him. You will be restored to your horse back but stay there by His power and grace.

Some believers are trekking today because they took their internal weaknesses for granted until they were enslaved by them.

Memorise: “And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Exodus 32:33)

Read: Revelation 20:11-15

blotted-8-728“On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king” (Esther 6:1).

The story of Mordecai is an interesting one with several lessons for us today. The first thing that comes to mind is that every organized kingdom keeps records. Just as king Ahasuerus kept records of events, so does the King of kings. Heaven has lots of books out of which are some registers for human beings. Revelation 20:11-15 tells us of two sets of books – the book of life and the books of death. Everyone that is born into this world has his or her name in one of the books.

Wherever your name falls is where all your deeds will be recorded. Everyone who is born again and is still living right until time of death can be assured that his or her name is in the book of life. The moment you are washed in the blood of Jesus and become a new creature in Christ, your name enters the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27).

It takes your daily living to please Him to sustain your name there. If you return to sin, God has no choice but to erase the name of that fellow from this book. Also, what will happen to anyone and where the fellow will spend eternity will be determined by which book the fellow’s name is. Every sinner’s name is in one of the books of death, hence, they will be doomed in eternal hell.

“And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Exodus 32:33). Even from the time of Moses, it was common knowledge that God had a book where all righteous souls are listed. Are you born again? If yes, congratulations! It is not enough to have your name in the most important book in the universe. Keeping it there is the challenge.

Satan is out to delist your name from that book. That colleague that is mounting pressure on you to compromise with sin, is actually Satan’s vehicle to delist you. Some powerful names have been delisted from that book. Judas Iscariot and Demas once had their names in that book but were delisted. It is only when your name is there, that you will be entitled to your portion from God’s Kingdom. Do everything in your power to retain your name in this glorious book. Has your name been delisted? Re-enrol today!

Father, frustrate every known or unknown move of the enemy to delist my name from the Lamb’s Book of Life. Lord, fill this year’s Convention with your presence, power, and miracles. Grant us journey mercies during the Convention.

Memorise: “I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God “ (Isaiah 43:12)

Read: Isaiah 43:8-12

7-gifts-of-holy-spirit-lg“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Are you born again? If yes, congratulations! You have been called to be a witness unto Jesus. According to the above scripture, it is only witnesses that qualify for the power of the Holy Spirit.

In other words, the reason God empowered you with His Spirit is so that you can become an effective, faithful witness unto Him. If you are not winning souls to Christ, you defeat your calling and frustrate the grace of God upon your life. If you are truly a child of God, why would you not be concerned over what your Father is concerned about? The complacent believer is not only foolish but also wicked. It takes wickedness to see someone you know heading for the pit and not warn him.

Proverbs 14:25 says your ability to deliver the souls of perishing men and women marks you out as a faithful witness. Since you were born again, how many converts have you made? How many of those converts are doing well spiritually and on their way to heaven?

It is either you are a faithful witness or you are a false witness. There is no middle ground! If you are a liar or involved in anything fraudulent, you are a false witness. Deuteronomy 19:18 says the one who lies or deliberately misrepresents his brother is a false witness. Are you falsifying or cooking up misleading stories about someone so that he can be sacked, and you can benefit from that sack?

You are a false witness. If you cannot declare the whole counsel of God’s Word, you are a false witness. If the anointing of God upon your life and ministry is not producing souls for the Kingdom of God, you are a false witness. If your character contradicts the nine-fold fruit of the Spirit, you are a false witness. If your life-style is leading people astray, or people cannot copy your ways and get to Heaven, it is because you are a false witness.

Proverbs 21:28 says a false witness shall be destroyed. If your life does not convict sinners and point them to Jesus Christ, you are a false witness. Check your life today. In what ways have you been a false witness? Repent before it is too late.

If the power of the Holy Spirit is not evident in your life and ministry, it could be because you are not His witness.

Bible on godly and wise counsel

Memorise: “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning” (Prov 9:9)

Read: Ruth 3:1-6

How did Ruth move into her new level of breakthrough? She received good counsel from her mother-in-law. Proverbs 20:18 says, “Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war”. When you are about to embark on an important journey, project or decision, good advice will be required for success.

The quality of your preparation will depend on how good your advisers are. If your advisers are ungodly, they will lead you astray with their advice.

Image result

They will ask you to do things that violate the Word of God. Of all counsellors, there is none as good as the Wonderful Counsellor (Isaiah 9:6). His knowledge is so vast that there is no area He cannot advise you on. If you want the best of counsels, go to Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 12:15 says it is wisdom to receive good advice. Are you already wise? Proverbs 9:9 says if you receive wise instruction, you will be wiser. Proverbs 1:8 says if you are truly a child of God, you will keep His instructions. An adage says, even if a child has as many clothes as an elder, he cannot have as many rags as the elder.

When counsel comes from someone older than you, take it into consideration, not minding his level of education or other limitations. In any case, there is nobody older than the One called the Ancient of Days (Daniel 7:9).

In Proverbs 11:24-25, the scripture says if you want to be fat, be liberal. To the modern man, that does not make sense, hence most people including Christians are tight-fisted today.

Some years ago, I went to visit one of our pastors. I expected that he would entertain me with at least a bottle of coke. Then, it sold for five kobo. Meanwhile, I had a gift for him worth 100 kobo.

After we exchanged pleasantries, I took my seat. Instead of offering something, he kept greeting me and I greeted in return. Shocked at his level of stinginess, I greeted him and left with the cash gift I had planned to give to him. On the way, I stopped by a petrol station, bought two bottles of coke at 10 kobo and pocketed the change. God still withdraws big blessings from those who fail to release the little in their hands.

Do you take godly counsels? Or are you too big to be counselled by God-fearing leaders? Some pastors and leaders stopped taking counsels the day they were elevated in their place of work or ministry. Never shun good, godly and God- glorifying counsel!

Ask God to show you the little things you are ignoring that can rob you of His greater blessings. Attend to them now!

Benefits of daily prayers

Luke 18 vs. 1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

What are the lessons from this scripture?

  1. Prayer is a necessity.
  2. Prayer should be present continuous. 24/7.
  3. You cannot over pray. But you can under pray.
  4. Real men are prayer warriors.
  5. If you are struggling with prayers, then you are still a kindergarten, a boy in the kingdom.
  6. Prayer strengthens. You can’t faint on the altar of prayer. The more you pray the stronger you are spiritually.
  7. Prayer is what separates the men from the boys. Prayer is what makes you a victorious Christian.

  • Holy spirit, make me a prayer champion in Jesus name.

Holy Spirit as a person: Is the Holy ghost real?

How to recover your lost glory by the power of the Holy Spirit?

Daniel 2:47-The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries,

  1. I misplaced my eye glasses a week ago. Exactly on the morning of November 7, 2015, I woke up without seeing my glasses, and could not remember where I kept it. The last two places I visited was my office and a restaurant. I conducted searches and asked the personnel there, but no one found it.
  2. For three days, I searched and searched, but could not find it, but did not give up. After three days of fruitless search, I returned to the Holy Spirit. By His grace I have never lost any possession in life. I use to say, none of my properties could be stolen because I did not steal money to buy them.
  3. So I returned to the Holy Spirit after three days of using my wisdom to locate my lost possessions, and asked him to fish out my glasses for him. Every day I engaged the Holy Spirit in a discussion. I petitioned him, and ‘queried’ I was not even praying to him, but at a point was really querying him why He allowed my glasses to be missing. I was not praying for a new glasses, as I believed the one I had, should not be missing in the first instance.
  4. I asked the Holy Spirit: ‘Holy Spirit, please where is my glasses?’; ‘Holy Spirit, fish out my glasses wherever it is’; ‘Holy Spirit why did you allow my glasses to be lost or missing, at least you were there when I misplaced it.? Why didn’t remind me to pick it?’ ‘Holy Spirit would you please bring back my glasses?’.
  5. To the glory of God, Holy Spirit brought my glasses yesterday. I went to that same restaurant when I suspected it was misplaced. As I sat down one of the workers walked in, and I told him am still looking for my glasses. He quickly went to a drawer and brought it out, saying it has been lying there for the past one week. I was pleasantly surprised because they have earlier searched and couldn’t find it in the restaurant.
  6. I returned to my hotel room and gave thanks to the Holy Spirit for bringing back my glasses. My testimony remains my possessions cannot be lost, and the power of God recovered my blessings for me in Jesus name. Also, the Holy Spirit confirmed once more to me that He is real.
  7. There is somebody that needs to relate to the Holy Spirit as a friend and companion. There is somebody that needs to earnestly and repeatedly ask the Holy Spirit questions, by faith. There is someone that needs to claim his covenant rights from the Holy Spirit. There is somebody that needs to be determined to only take ‘Yes’ for an answer from the Holy Spirit. There is somebody that should not allow the Holy Spirit to rest, until he is settled. There is somebody that needs to ask his friend, the Holy Spirit simple questions: Holy Spirit where is my job? Holy Spirit give me a job? Holy Spirit where is my baby? Holy Spirit give me a baby? Holy Spirit where is my husband/wife? Holy Spirit, bring my husband/wife to me? Holy spirit, where did you allow me to remain jobless, unmarried, sick, poor etc
  8. I pray as you do so in faith and righteousness, your testimonies shall manifest in Jesus name.

Lessons from the Bible story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

Posted on

Read Daniel 3
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego faced the option of worshiping Satan and live; or refuse to worship Satan and be put burnt to death. They opted for the latter and God intervened and they ended being promoted.

shadrach meshach abednego
What lessons can we learn from the story?
1. There is power in dedication. King Nebuchadnezzar organised a big ceremony and decided to dedicate his image god. Christians should learn to dedicate every of their belongings to the living God with pomp and pageantry.
• I cancel every evil dedication on your life and properties and rededicate your life, family, and businesses to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Jesus name
2. You should learn to worship God with all kinds of instruments. King Nebuchadnezzar brought out cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer and all kinds of musical instruments to worship idol god. How are we worshiping the living God today?
3. Don’t be ashamed to invite or bring your friends to Christ. Open your mouth and tell your friends about Jesus. Nebuchadnezzar brought all his associates to worship an image. He brought Princes, Governors, Captains, Judges, Counsellors, Sheriffs and Rulers of all the Provinces. How many of your colleagues, friends, business partners, associates, relations have you brought to Christ this year?
4. Don’t join the mob to do evil. Avoid negative peer pressure. Stand alone with God instead of joining the multitude to worship devil. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego decided to stand alone and apart from their colleagues – Judges, Princes, Treasurers, Sheriffs etc. who bowed to Satan
5. Be bold and courageous once you are on the right path. Don’t compromise your righteousness out of fear. Stand on what is right even if you are the only one standing.
6. Fear God, not the king. Fear God but honour the king. The three Jews decided to disobey the king’s order and please God rather than obeying the king’s order and displease God. Evil decrees that are contrary to the Bible should not be obeyed.
7. Hold on to God even to the point of death. The three Jews knew whom they believe and were ready to sacrifice their lives rather than deny their faith. How well do you trust God? How strong is your faith in Him?
8. If you hold on to God, He will fight for you. The man that threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into fire were all killed, while Jesus appeared inside the fire to protect his servants.
9. Jesus is always with you in your crises. Jesus appeared inside the fire to prevent his servants from becoming hurt. Jesus is appearing in the fire of a reader of this message today.
10. Unbelievers shall be converted to Christianity when you trust in God. Nebuchadnezzar became an Evangelist when he saw the power of faith.
11. There is a God in heaven who can change the evil decrees. Even Nebuchadnezzar confessed that the Almighty God has changed his word, only the Word of God changeth not.
12. Every test of faith and presentation of righteousness ends in divine promotion. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were meant to be roasted to death but they ended up being promoted.

I refuse to worship Satan!

Jesus, appear in my crises!

Breakthrough prayers: O God of Israel, settle me now!

Posted on Updated on

1 Peter 5:10King James Version (KJV)

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

                                                  By Babatope Babalobi

1. There’s a reader of this message who wants God to settle him.

2. You may wish to be settled with a good husband or wife, the fruit of the womb, a good job, a befitting accommodation,  a house of your home,  visa for international travel, marital peace, good health, or deliverance from sin.

3. Perharps you have been crying for years, praying earnestly to God to seetle you.

4. The good news is that God does settle His children.

5. However, there’s a price to be paid,  a path to tread, a principle to be followed, and an exam to be passed before God can settle you

6. Let’s examine 1 Peter 5 vs 10 critically….You will discover that there are four things that must happen before God settles you. First, you must suffer. Second, you must be perfected. Third, you must be established. Fourth,  you must be strengthened.

7. You must suffer. Do you want God to settle you?  Then you must ready to suffer for a while. You must suffer in prayer and fasting. You must suffer in memorising the word of God. You must suffer in denying yourself the pleasures of sin. You must suffer in living a life of holiness. You must suffer in avoiding ill gotten treasures. You must suffer in being denied, ridiculed,  and mocked by the world. You must suffer in carrying the cross of Christ. Unfortunately,  most people want to be divinely blessed without going through the School of suffering, which accounts for there inability to advance forward in their christian life .

My prayer for you today is that you shall emerge victoruious in the School of divine suffering in Jesus name

8. You must be perfected.  Do you want God to settle you ? Then you must be ready to be perfected. You must be perfected to drop your old man. You must be perfected to produce the fruits of the spirit. You must be perfected to kill your flesh and die to self. You must be perfected to think of the word rather than the world. You must be perfected to start investing in heaven, rather than on worldly things.  You must be perfected  to cut off your old habits…anger, impatient, gossip,  lying, lust, envy, etc You must be perfected to become a saint. Unfortunately,  most Christians want to receive miracles and breakthroughs without going through the School of perfection. No wonder, they are yet to be settled by God.

I pray for you again that you shall become a lamb without blemish in Jesus name.

9. You must be established. Do you want God to settle you? Then you must be established as a Christian. Are you merely a church goer or a servant of God? Are you merely a follower of Jesus or a disciple of Jesus? What are you doing for God? Are you  merely a recruit soldier in the Army of Christ or a Combatant soldier? How many souls have you won for Christ this year? What are you doing for God that brings joy to the kingdom? Beloved, you must be established as a dependable, fruitful,  reliable servant of Christ before God can focus on you for divine settlement. Yet again unfortunately, most Christians are not willing to pass through the School of establishment; they remain feeding bottle, ice cream christians all there life not doing anything for the kingdom of God. Alas, God also refuses to settle them as they have no value to the kingdom.

I pray for you again,  that you shall be valuable in the sight of God in Jesus name.

10. You must be strengthened. Do you want God to seetle you? Then you must be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to receive divine settlement. The Bible says in that day the burden shall be lifted up and the yoke shall be broken because of the annoiting. It is the annoiting of God that strengthens you spiritually making you a candidate of divine settlement. How long do you pray in the Spirit daily? Five minutes, ten, thirty, one hour? How long can you do personal worship. Beloved, unless the power of God falls on you and strengthens you to break the evil bondages and cages, your divine settlement may not materialise. Unfortunately, most Christians are too lackadaisical,  too gentle for the devil , and too cold to face their adversary who is a roaring lion. You must pass through the School of spiritual strength before you can receive divine settlement.

I pray once again for you that the fire of God shall fall on you today in Jesus name

Deliverance prayers: My life shall not be wasted! I waste wasting powers!

Posted on Updated on

The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill , and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life and that they might have it more abundantly – John 10 vs 10.

I woke up this morning with a dream, in which I saw a mob pursuing a thief. Some soldiers joined in the hot pursuit; eventually  the mob  and soldiiers caught up with the thief and he was lynched.  In the dream, I saw the thief gasping for breath, and dying.

The Holy Spirit then told me : ‘This man has just wasted his life’

As I woke up from bed, I meditated on the incident, and the Holy Spirit gave me the understanding that, just as the thief in the dream wasted his life, a lot of people are indulging in activities that is turning  their lives into a waste!

1. You could waste you life by smoking, which would eventually develop into cancer of the lungs, terminating your life prematurely.

2. You can decide to waste your life through drug addiction, knowing fully well that this is injurious to your health and will trigger a wide range of sicknesses.

3. You could decide to waste your life by compulsive love for alcoholic drinks such as strong wine and beer, which would destroy your liver or kidney over  a period of time, leading to premature death.

4. You could decide to waste your life by running after strange women, and no  matter how careful you are, you might one day contact sexually transmitted diseases leading you to the grave prematurely.

5. Are you indulging in risky behaviours such as excessive  speeding without using seat beats, travelling in canoe  or boats on rivers  without using life jackets, walking in lonely places at night etc……then your life may end up a waste.

6. You are on the way to wasting your life if you indulge in unhealthy eating habits such as eating too much of sugary,  carbohydrates and fatty foods, which may turn you into a diabetic patient sooner or later.

7. You may be on the path to wasting your life if you indulge in negative lifestyles. Are you easily angered, worried, anxious, hot tempered…..watch it as high blood pressure and hypertension may soon knock at the door of your heart.

8. Your life can be wasted if your destiny is not fulfilled,  if you refuse to redeem the time, if out of laziness you refuse to work hard to end a living …ending up  in poverty,  if you become corrupted by bad friends, etc

Just as physical factors could cause you to waste your life, there are also spiritual forces waiting to waste your life.

1. You could allow your life to be wasted by the forces of evil, if out of spiritual ignorance you refuse to indulge in spiritual warfare…If you fail to resist  the devil so that he can flee away. James 4 vs 7.

2. You could consciously allow your life and destiny to be wasted by dark powers, because of your own spiritual laziness ; if you refuse to fast and pray always as enjoined by  -1 Thessalonians 5 vs 7.

3. Your life may end up a waste if you sleep and snore every night allowing the enemy to catch up with you and afflict you at night; whereas Jesus has warned that the enemy of your life is waiting to harm you as you lie down to sleep.  Mathew 13 vs 25.

4. Are you hot for Jesus today and hot for Satan tomorow? Satan may not allow you to become hot again for Jesus as he could decide to waste you suddenly.

5. You could allow your life to be wasted if you refuse to stand up to execute judegment on the Pharaohs that   has put in bondages,   if you refuse to behead the Goliaths that want to kill you,  and if you refuse to kill the Herods that want you dead.

My prayer for you today is that your life shall not be wasted in Jesus name, the powers that are planning to waste your life shall be wasted,  and the physical and spiritual forces that are waiting to catch up with you,  like the mob caught up with the thief in the dream, these wasting forces shall be wasted in Jesus.

My prayer for you is that you shall fulfill destiny in Jesus name.

Bible commentary on 1 Corinthians 3 vs 16: Christians as temples of God

Posted on

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you1 Corinthians 3 vs 16

Being the temple of God, means being His representation, His image, His living church, His glory, and His Holiness. Of course, you can not be a temple of God without the spirit of God living inside you.

Do you wish to be a temple of God, then become born again. Do you wish to remain a temple of God, then avoid these things.

Things to avoid as a Temple of God

  1. Avoid lying- The temple of God should reflect the truth.
  2. Avoid sexual perversion- Fornication, Adultery, Pornography, Homosexuality, Masturbation. The spirit of God inside you will not join you to sleep with a woman not your wife.
  3. Dress well- Your dressing should be modest, add to your beauty, and glorify God.
  4. Don’t Tattoo your bodies- You are the image of God, don’t deface your body with other images.
  5. Avoid evil- Take control of your heart, and cast out wicked thoughts as they come.
  6. Feed your Spirit- The spirit of God inside your needs to be feed from time to time, with the word of God, godly music, and godly movies.
  7. Avoid Anger- the Spirit of God is meek, watch your tongue, avoid anger, provocation, bless don’t curse etc
  8. Avoid evil company- Watch where you go. Before going anyway, ask yourself, would the spirit of God like to be with me in this place? Flee from ungodly places. Don’t go where Jesus will not go.
  9. Avoid fear- You are a temple of God, you cannot be destroyed by Satan. Avoid fear of sudden death, accident, assassination etc. The spirit of God inside you will keep you from all harm.
  10. Be a good Christian- You are a carrier of God’s spirit. There is God in you, let your character show forth His praises.

John 10:10- The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

How to understand dreams

  1. God speaks through dreams.
  2. Dreams from God are always short, straight to the point, and good.
  3. Angels deliver Gods messages to his people through dreams
  4. Satan announces his plans through dreams that are delivered by demons.night
  5. The devil works through dreams. Every evil dream is from the devil. Satan also at times shows Christians good dreams in order to deceive them and give them false sense of hope.
  6. Satanic dreams are like movies, they are long, wildling, confusing, and deceptive.
  7. If you have just had an evil dream, then you have been visited by a demon.
  8. Don’t joke with evil dreams as they are evidence of what is happening in the spirit realm. It is dangerous to dismiss any dream.

Dreams you should not joke with

  1. Being pursued in the dream
  2. Eating delicious meals in the dream.
  3. Having sex in the dream
  4. Drinking in the dream
  5. Attending a social party in the dream
  6. Attending funeral service in the dream

  15. Attacked by giants in the dream.
  16. Dying in the dream, seeing yourself in a coffin, or in a burial ground.
  17. Being robbed of a valuable possession; losing a treasured possession.
  18. Finding yourself in a cage, hole, or pit in the dream.
  19. Visiting your place of birth or old places you have not gone to in a long time.
  20. Being wedded in a dream with a strange face

How to deal with negative dreams

  1. Wake up and cancel any evil dream immediately.
  2. Confess that the dream is from the devil and call the devil a big liar.
  3. Command evil arrows of the dream to go back to their senders in Jesus name
  4. Declare according to John 10 vs 10. That God has come to give you abundant life.
  5. If the dream is about premature dead, Confess Psalm 118:17 that you shall live and not die in Jesus name.
  6. Soak yourself in the blood of Jesus

How to experience the Glory of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit

Posted on

By Revd. Simeon Folorunsho

Reference texts: Isaiah 6 vs 5; Colossians 1 vs 27

What is the glory of God?
1. It is the divine nature of God, the splendor of God, the honour of God, the divine presence of God, it is the tangible presence of God.

2. It is the presence of God.

3. Everything that you need to succeed in this world, is inside of you. All you need to do to, activate the anointing of God in your life, activate the power of God in your life, and activate the presence of God in your life.

What happens when the glory of God comes to a place?
1. When the Glory of God comes to a place, there are mighty signs and wonders.

2. When the glory of God comes to a place, there is Angelic encounter.

3. When the glory of God comes to a place, miracles happened- John 5 vs 1-15

4. When the glory of God comes to a place, financial miracles are released unexpectedly –Matthew 7 vs 27

5. When the glory of God comes to a man, you see yourself the way God sees you.

6. When the glory of God comes on a man, no mountain can stand before him.

1. Seek God-The Glory of God comes when we seek Him with all our heart

2. Become a prayer warrior- You should be able to pray in the spirit for long hours. Train yourself as a soldier for Christ, wake up at night and pray in the spirit.

3. Be free from anger and malice. God will not use a dirty vessel.

4. Live in complete holiness- You need to cut off from your evil friends.

5. Become obedient- You need to obey God and listen to the Holy Spirit.

How to be filled with the Holy Spirit

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matt 5:6)

Read: Matthew 20:20-23

In Matthew 5:3, Jesus said the poor in spirit are in the category of the blessed. The poor in spirit are those who are never satisfied with their spiritual state. They are always hungry for more of God – His love, the fruit of His Spirit and gifts of the Spirit. Their delight is in Christ. Luke 11:9-10 says if you seek, you will find. One major characteristic of the poor in spirit is that they have a large capacity to fill. They are insatiable in their quest for Heavenly things, and would not rest until they are filled. Jesus says in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”. Hunger plays a major role in the distribution of Heavenly blessings. Some people are okay with a cup of tea in the morning.

Some do not even take breakfast because they are not hungry. When it comes to lunch or supper, some adults do not eat more than an eight-year old. God cannot fill you beyond your capacity or container. I

you think you are okay the way you are, you will never move an inch beyond that point. If you do not hunger to know more about God, you will be limited to the little you already know about Him.

When James and John requested for top Heavenly positions through their mother who was one of Jesus’ ministry helpers, they were hunger-driven. The Lord saw it and corrected what was out of order and showed them how to be great. They took His path and entered into greatness. The stronghold of the flesh over their temperaments was broken. The lions became lambs. And they not only became part of the inner circle of Jesus, John became His closest associate.

To know God, you must be poor in spirit. You must hunger for more of Him until He fills youholy spirit up completely. The extent you can climb the spiritual ladder does not depend on how many top pastors you know, but on how hungry you are for Heavenly things. James and John were not hungry for earthly positions but heavenly ones.

Those who would seat on Heavenly thrones are those who hungered for more of God and His Kingdom during their life time. What are you hungry for? Is it for the earthly bread or the Heavenly bread? Your hunger will determine your growth level and pace. Ask God to give you real hunger for eternal things.

Ask for hunger pangs for the things of God. Pray against the spirit of accident on our roads.

How to get over an enemy and overcome evil powers in Jesus name

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” (Job 22:28)Read: Exodus 7:10-12
overcomeSome years ago, there was a popular native doctor in Akure, Nigeria. He was extremely ruthless and several people flocked regularly to him. But his shrine was next to the factory of one of my children. One day, this son of mine came to lay a complaint about the terror in his domain. He said each time he went around his factory, he saw mutilated bodies of children – bodies with no heads or genitals. He wanted the man to relocate. When I went to Akure, he showed me the place.I simply lifted my right hand and commanded him to be moved in Jesus’ Name. My son asked me, ‘Is that all?’ Then I told him there are times for regular prayers and there are times for decrees. The fetish priest had built his shrine around an iroko tree. Within seven days of that decree, the iroko tree dried up. And within another seven days the man died.

Today, I decree that every satanic nuisance in your life will stop now in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ. I command every satanic strong hold around you to move.

Apart from the fact that Moses’ hands were special, the rod in his hands was not an ordinary one. In Exodus 7:10-12, the same rod swallowed the magicians’ serpents in Egypt. Every evil force that will not allow you to reach your goal shall be swallowed today in Jesus’ Name. From today’s reading, it is glaring that Satan can counterfeit God’s miracles. Satan has never performed a miracle, only magic.

A miracle is the authentic version of a divine intervention in human affairs, while magic is the fake attempt to replicate it. So don’t be amazed when people of the occult perform magic. Another lesson here is that both the forces of good and evil know which is real and which is fake. Satan fakes speaking in tongues in a bid to deceive the undiscerning, but when he comes face to face with a genuinely Spirit – filled believer, he panics because the difference is clear.

Similarly, from today’s reading, God’s power supersedes that of Satan. And just as the rod of Moses swallowed the snakes of the Egyptian magicians, every agent of darkness fighting against you will lose their weapons to the power of the Holy Spirit inside of you. Ask in faith today. You can relocate that enemy today!

You are light. Darkness should not dwell with or around you. Command every agent of darkness living around you to relocate now.

Is the Holy Spirit real?

Posted on

Memorise: “For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean” (Jn 13:11)

Read: Jeremiah 17:5-8

It is an unfortunate development not to have a pre-knowledge of good things coming your way. According to Jeremiah 17:6, the one who is blinded to imminent blessings may lose them and end up with leftovers and rejects. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name. Seeing your promotion ahead of time informs you of certain things: it tells you of God’s plan to promote you.It may also give details regarding your new office, the obstruction on the way, etc. This will therefore help guide you on how to channel your prayer efforts and address the real stumbling block on your path. It will provide you courage to fight to possess what Heaven has released. Do you see good things coming your way before hand?holy spirit

A minister was trusting God for a new apartment. He prayed until God showed him his new place in a vision. Thereafter, he went inspecting different accommodations. As they took him from one to another, he shook his head in disapproval because they were at variance with what he was shown.

Eventually, he was taken to an apartment a bit more distant from the rest. As soon as he saw it, he jumped at it in excitement and screamed, ‘This is my new house’. When you see things before they come, you stop being a blind seeker. A blind seeker looks for what he does not know. When he sees it, he will not recognize it.

If you can walk close to the Holy Spirit and have the eyes of your understanding opened, you will be able to tell precisely who your spouse would be. You can tell the next country you will be visiting. You can tell the next apartment or job you are taking up. You can tell your next school or profession. You can tell the period a car or another car is coming to you. You can tell what to wear for your wedding.

You can tell the type of building structure to erect for your church. You can tell. To what extent can you tell today? Ask God to open the eyes of your understanding.

When God shows you things before hand, you can be sure of what to expect and not just accept any offer.

Memorise: “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt 18:18)

Read: 2 Chronicles 7:11-14

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word” (1 Kings 17:1). Heaven has windows which can be open or shut. If shut, there will be no rain. Rivers will begin to dry up and this will lead to famine and death. One way God judges is by shutting the windows of Heaven over the offender. In Amos 4:6- 9, God says He can open Heavenly windows for some and shut it over some. That means, while some are crying that things are too hard, others are feasting, celebrating and saying things could never be better. This year, the Lord will open the heavenly windows over you, your family, business, ministry, etc.Open Heavens Adeboye

Tithing is one medium of opening the heavenly windows (Mal 3:10). God’s anointed prophet can also open or close heavenly windows. This is one reason you must carefully relate with a genuine man of God.

Just one pronouncement is all Heaven is awaiting before deciding whether to open or shut the windows over the person, city or nation in question. Elijah used his delegated spiritual authority to shut heavenly windows over his land (1 Kings 17:1). While several people were dying of hunger, the widow of Zarephath was becoming fatter. This year, as people complain of hunger and lack, you will be celebrating abundance in Jesus’ Name.

Ultimately, God, the Owner of Heaven has the key of David to open or shut the Heavenly windows (Rev 3:7 ). Elijah exercised his authority and put the nation into famine just to get them to repent.

Do you know that as long as you remain in right standing with God, and please Him in all you do, you can shut the Heavenly windows temporarily over individuals, loved ones, cities and even nations just to compel them to accept the Lord Jesus Christ? This is one key believers have but many have not been using. It is high time some loved ones were compelled into the Kingdom of God by the application of the key of David. Take this step today and prayerfully follow it up. And the Kingdom of God shall be enlarged.

Let the windows of Heaven be shut over all my unsaved loved ones till they humbly turn their lives to Christ.

What is the essence of water baptism?

Posted on Updated on

baptism  Colossian 2 vs. 12 – buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

  1. Water baptism is an act of symbolism to show/enable the followers of Christ associate with the sufferings of Messiah
  2. Jesus was buried for three days and night, in the same way immersion into water signifies the symbolic burial of Christians with Christ.
  3. Jesus rose from the dead, and the same way Christians symbolically came out of the water after an initial immersion.

Sermon: I want to live a holy life

Posted on Updated on

Galatians 5 vs 15This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh

1. We live in a life of sin, a life where sin is glorified over righteousness, and a life where every one around us is committing one sin or the other.

2. Many Christians are also struggling to overcome one form of sin of the other.

3. The lust of our flesh is often the source of our sins, but we can overcome this by focusing more on things of the spirit.

4. To overcome the lust of the flesh, we need to pray in the spirit for several minutes daily, if possible up to an hour. We need to read our Bible daily, and also fast at least once a week.
