2 Corinthians 11:23-33 King James Version (KJV)

23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.

24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.

25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:

33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

  1. Paul was perhaps the most persecuted  Apostle
  2. He was imprisoned, flogged, and exposed to death more than any other Apostle
  3. Five times he was flogged 39 times by the Jews for preaching the gospel.
  4. He was officially flogged 195 times, for preaching the gospel. yet he did not look back
  5. Apostle Paul was thrice beaten with rods for preaching the gospel, yet his faith grew stronger
  6. He was once stoned for preaching the gospel, yet he did not deny Jesus
  7. Thrice his ship was damaged on the ocean when he was on missionary journey yet he continued carrying cross
  8.  He once spent two days at the open sea because his Ship was wrecked yet, he did not turn back from the Cross
  9. Apostle Paul suffered many dangers and risks on the sea, in the hands of robbers, by fellow Hebrews, in the wilderness, on the sea, and among unbelievers.
  10. He went for many days without water and food, not because he was fasting but there was no food or water to drink during his missionary journey
  11. Apostle Paul was a man like you and me
  12. The question the Holy Spirit is asking you today, is what are you doing for me my son and daughter?
  13. He was always on the road and exposed to extremes of weather- cold and hot.
  14. He was always on marathon fasts
  15. For the sake of the gospel Paul decided not to marry
  16. For the sake of the gospel Paul decided not to have children
  17. For the sake of the gospel Paul decided to be a celibate
  19. In all these he did not make a financial demand on the churches….He still managed to work and sent offerings to the churches.
  20. He had a right to demand offerings and tithes from the Church, rather he was the one sending offerings to the church
  21. He had a right to demand offerings and tithes from the Church, rather he worked with his hands to earn a living not to be a burden on the church
  22. I receive the spirit of Apostle Paul in Jesus name
  23. I receive the power of Apostle Paul in Jesus name
  24. I receive the mind of Apostle Paul in Jesus name
  25. Paul suffered weaknesses as a result of his afflictions.
  26. Paul suffered sicknesses as a result of his afflictions.
  27. Paul  was once imprisoned in Damascus, and he escaped through a window by  a basket.
  28. Apostle Paul placed a curse on himself if he refuses to preach the gospel
  29. Holy Spirit prayed..Give me souls or I die
  30. Today, the Holy Spirit is looking around for new Pauls
  31. Make me a Paul Holy Spirit
  32. Turn me to a Paul Holy Spirit
  33. Anoint me like Paul Holy Spirit
  34. Strengthen me like Paul Holy Spirit
  35. The Saul in me, turn to Paul in Jesus name
  36. The Saul in me die, the Paul in me come alive in Jesus name
  37. I am the Paul of this generation in Jesus name

Blessings of waiting on God

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured” (Prov 27:18)

Read: Isaiah 40:29-31

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Is 40:31). Although prayer cannot change God, it can however change weakness to strength. The above verse says there is exchange of strength by waiting on the Lord in prayer.

This means, whenever you access God’s presence, go with all your frailties, weaknesses and failings. Go in as an empty vessel that is ready to be filled. Never enter His presence with the notion that you have it all, that you have arrived or that you do not really need Him: You may lose what you think you have and return empty! How do we wait on the Lord?

When you visit a five star hotel, a waiter or waitress waits on you to take your orders and make you comfortable. It is the duty of the waiter to wait on you. He or she is paid to do so. If you complain about what was served, it is his duty to see that it is changed. Even if you are a small boy, the waiter will put up his best and say: ‘Yes sir’ to your orders and smile because he knows you are going to pay for it.

When you wait on the Lord, you are to be the waiter and He your guest. Serve Him only what He likes and not what you like. Unfortunately, because many of us do not understand what it means to wait on Him, we turn Him into the waiter and we the guest. We would barrage Him with orders: “God, I want this, I want that.

Don’t forget what I asked for yesterday and the previous day. Ensure my provision is ready for today. Lest I forget, do not allow any evil to cross my path today – that is, be a good security guard to me. I hope you heard all I have said?” At the end of the day, the Lord will ask, “Who’s the waiter here?” When you wait on the Lord, give Him water to drink, food to eat. Give Him praise.

God is the One that should be flattered yet you cannot flatter Him because He is more than what you say He is. He is more than how best you can describe Him. However, tell Him He is good, wonderful and kind. Call Him by His names. If you can do this very well, you will get a tip. A tip from the Almighty is enough to settle you for life. Are you weak? You ought to be in God’s presence.

How you treat God is how you will be treated. If you can wait on God, men will wait on you. If you ignore God, you will be ignored by men.

Jesus the Wonderful Counsellor

Memorise: “Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms” (Jer 51:20)

Read: Jeremiah 51:19-24

Jesus Christ is the Wonderful. The implication of this is that He is capable of introducing changes into situations and circumstances in order to obtain a different but desired result.

As the Wonderful, the limits of men is the beginning of His abilities. Have you come to the end of the road on a particular matter? Go to the Wonderful, praise and sufficiently worship Him, and invite Him to give you a pleasant surprise package. You will suddenly discover a way in your wilderness.

“Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms” (Jer 51:20). One of the reasons Jesus Christ is called the Wonderful is so that by the time He reveals Himself to us as the Wonderful, not only would our lives be full of wonders, but that He can use us as agents of His wonders. You can become the Lord’s battle axe. You can become a divine weapon in addition to the ones listed in Ephesians 6:11-18.

A brother was seeking God’s face over a period of time. One day, he dreamt that some people (angels) came to him and began to perform an operation on him. They were trying to take off his physical hand while he resisted vehemently. He thought they were enemies but he was powerless compared with their strength.

Thereafter, they replaced his hand with an iron hand before leaving. He woke up and began to examine his right hand which did not look any different from its physical form but spiritually, it was now made of iron. He was afraid but then the Holy Spirit calmed his fears and explained to Him that a transformation had just taken place to equip him for higher assignments and battles ahead.

In Mark16:17-18, Jesus says if you know Him as the Wonderful, you too will become full of signs and wonders. There is a spiritual kitting taking place. Although you may never have seen yourself wearing shoes, breastplate, belt, helmet, taking a sword, etc., yet that is how you are dressed when you completely obey Jesus and know Him as the Wonderful.

The apostles knew the Wonderful to the point that signs and wonders freely flowed from them (Acts 5:12). To what extent do you know the Wonderful? Not knowing Him as Wonderful amounts to wasting God’s graces.

Lord Jesus, reveal yourself to me as the Wonderful to the extent of making me a wonder to my generation.

Sermon: Remember me O God!

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good” (Eccl 11:6)

Read: Esther 6:1-10

Mordecai heard of a plan to assassinate king Ahasuerus and he exposed it. That was how the life of the king was spared. The good deed was entered into their book of record but no reward was given. One day, after his arch enemy, Haman, had concluded plans to hang him, the king became disturbed.

He could not sleep at night until he searched through their record book and discovered that he was indebted to Mordecai. He did not rest until he paid his debt. One lesson here is that every good seed, sown on good soil has an appointed date to speak. If you do good, it will speak for you. If you do evil, it will speak against you.

But why did the king forget to reward Mordecai at the appropriate time? It is because God knew that his good seed would be needed to spare his life sometime in the future. Some seeds you sow today may not give you an immediate harvest. In fact, some harvests may be divinely connected with your deliverance, salvation or even breakthrough much later in life.

This is why you need to continue to sow. You cannot tell when each sowing effort will deliver its harvest (Eccl 11:1-6). Always ask God to cause your seed to speak for you both now and in the future. Also ask God to use your seeds to avert evil from your path.

There is a day of remembrance. Every child of God is destined for greatness. Heaven has provided for everyone in God’s Kingdom to be blessed. But every- one has his or her time. There is a day of visitation. There is a day of divine remembrance. The day you are remembered for a good deed done, is when your reward for years of unpaid labour will be released.

Unfortunately, some people do not have any good thing they can be remembered for. If Dorcas had not brought joy to the widows around her, she might not have been brought back to life. Her good deeds spoke after her death (Acts 9:36-42). Good seeds are so powerful that they can become your mouth piece or advocate when you are not there. This year, ensure you touch lives meaningfully.

Sow seeds that will speak for you today. Also sow seeds that will speak for you in future. On that crucial day of need, may Heaven remember you. Have you sown a powerful seed which has not yielded any result? Don’t take offence. Mordecai was not offended that no immediate reward came to him for rescuing the king.

It is possible your seed has gone ahead of you to deliver its harvest on a day you will need it most. Just thank God.

Ask God to cause your past and present seeds to trigger for you divine remembrance.

How to turn your fears into faith

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mk 11:24)

Read: Mark 11:23-24

Apart from changing people and turning negative circumstances around, prayer can also change doubt to trust, fear into faith. You are either a doubter or a believer. You either operate by faith or fear. Every doubter is a potential believer. If you can pray, the worst doubter can become the strongest believer. Doubting Thomas is a case in point (Jn 20:24-29). He doubted the resurrection of Christ.

Even after the other disciples confirmed that the Lord truly visited them in his absence, he told them: ‘Except I see His nail pierced hands and sword pierced side, and put my finger through them, I will not believe!’ Later, Jesus visited them again and addressed his unbelief. From that time he resolved to show the world that he was a believer.

Years later, Thomas went to India and was used mightily in signs and wonders. He had turned into a believing Thomas! Is there someone who is doubting your ability to perform? Is someone finding it hard to trust you? You can turn it around by tarrying on your knees in prayer. If you can pay that price in your prayer closet, the same doubter will become your staunchest fan, supporter and heralder.

According to our reading today, prayer can change the place and power of obstacles in our way. God does not change but mountains do, when brought in contact with the appropriate change agent – prayer. In moving any mountain, you must be specific, or else its either all mountains will respond to your call, or none will.

Also, before you take on a mountain standing in your way, you must believe that its time is up, and that it has to move. Repeating the same prayer each day may be an evidence of lack of faith. If you believe that obstacles will move, all you need do is to package the prayer request, and deliver it backed with relevant scriptures only once. That is the prayer seed.

Thereafter, water the seed regularly with thanksgiving. Each time you water that seed with praises and thanksgiving, you make God a debtor. The more you do so, the more God is compelled to grant your request. You can be sure that the One who says ‘Owe no man’ will by no means break His Word. If you follow this principle and it is like it is not working, persist. It could be that you are going through a wilderness experience.

Ask God to turn every doubting Thomas in your family and church into great believers. Also ask that persecutors of the church become the Pauls of our generation.

Commentary on Matthew 8

Posted on Updated on

Babatope Babalobi: + 2348035897435

Matthew 8 introduces us to the three-fold ministry of the Lord Jesus:

  1. Ministry of healing
  2. Ministry of deliverance
  3. Ministry of salvation

  1. Jesus is the Healer
  2. Jesus healed the leper – 2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
  3. Jesus healed the man sick of palsy (vs.6)And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented;
  4. Jesus healed Peter’s mother sick of fever (vs. 14)And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.
  5. If you wish to receive a miracle, start by worshipping God. The leper worshipped Jesus before requesting for healing

vs. 2 –  And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying

Image result for Matthew 8

  1. The leper worshipped Jesus. What are you passing through that is hindering you from worshipping God?
  2. The leper worshipped God and received a miracle. Jesus does not respond to weeping, murmurings, or lamentations. Jesus respond to worship
  3. You need faith to receive divine healing. The centurion received divine healing for his servant by faith. Verse 88The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
  4. Jesus healed by speaking word of God (vs. 8 and 15) –

8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.  15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

Jesus did not heal by asking people to drink holy water, asking them to bath in streams, asking them to sow a financial seed for healing, or asking the sick to rub spiritual cream on the body. He simply spoke the word of God healed the sick.

  1. If you desire healing, just speak the word. Compile healing scriptures and recite them daily.
  2. Jesus healed the sick by touch. The finger of Jesus shall touch you today in Jesus name

Verse 3:And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him

  1. Jesus is the deliverer. He delivered many that were possessed by devils ( 16) – 16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

And (vs. 28) – 28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

  1. Deliverance is core of Jesus’s ministry. Jesus cast out devils. You can cast out every devils troubling your life in Jesus name.

  1. Deliverance is by the word of God, Deliverance is not by any other material, except the word. It is the word that delivers, not intermediaries such as oil, handkerchief, water, soap, clothes, or photograph of men of God.

Verse 16 – and he cast out the spirits with his word

  1. Jesus was asleep despite the stormy winds that was drowning the ship because he knew angels are ministering to him and God is in control. We need to be calm in face of crises and trust in Emmanuel, God is with us

Verse 24 – And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

  1. The disciples of Jesus were almost getting drowned but Jesus intervened. The disciples were almost perishing in the sea, but Jesus saved them. As long as you are with God, you shall not perish in any stormy wind of life in Jesus name. The Lord Jesus shall surely save you from perishing

Verse 25: And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

  1. Jesus is the Saviour. He rebuked the stormy wind, and saved his disciples from the drowning ship.

Verse 26  And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

I rebuke every storm in your ship in Jesus name

  1. Christians should be ready to make sacrifices for the kingdom. If you wish to carry the cross and follow Jesus, you should be ready to make sacrifices.

Verse 20: And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head

  1. Are you a true follower of Jesus.? Are you ready to follow Jesus anywhere? The disciples of Jesus followed him. If you are not doing any thing for the kingdom or obeying Gods laws, then you are not following Jesus

Verse 23:  And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

  1. You need to speak the word to claim your healing, call on Jesus to deliver you from devils; and pray to Him to save you from the stormy winds threatening to drown you.

  • My body hear the word of God, be healed in Jesus name
  • Devils afflicting my life, I cast you out in Jesus name
  • Jesus of Nazareth, save me.

Bible study on Genesis 4

Posted on Updated on

By Oluwaseun Babalobi

  1. Genesis 4 outlines the story of God’s response to the offering given by two brothers- Cain and Abel.
  2. God favoured the offering of Abel above Cain because Abel gave a fatter offering
  3. This implies God expects and respects quality offerings (verse 4)
  4. Before you give an offering, consider when it is a quality offering, otherwise God will not have respect for it.
  5. Genesis 4 also contains the story of the enmity between two brothers- Cain and Abel
  6. Cain committed the first recorded murder in the Bible by killing his brother.
  7. May your blood brothers not become my enemy in Jesus name
  8. We also saw the other side of God. God is merciful but He was the first person to also issue a curse in the Bible- against Cain For killing his brother
  9. We also see the Blood is a spirit- as the Bible records that the blood of Abel was crying from the ground.
  10. May the blood of Jesus silence every blood crying for judgement because of ancenstal sins in Jesus name
  11. Child bearing is not limited to reproductive age ; Adam and Eve gave birth to his first sin-Seth (verse 25,26, 5:3)  at the age of 130
  12. This means that, when God decides to bless you the blessing shall come to pass and it has no respect for human timing.
  13. God may be ‘too’ late in human timing but he is still on time with divine timing (at the appointed time).

Ezekiel outlines divine instruction for anyone called to be minister

Don’t be lazy, indolent or waster. Stand upon your feet ( vs. 1) – And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

Preach the gospel whether people listen to you or ignore you ( vs. 5)And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

Be bold in the Lord. Don’t fear the enemy (vs. 6) – And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Don’t abandon the work of God ( vs. 8) – But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee

Don’t be silent, open thy mouth and preach the word (vs.8)But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give theeImage result for Ezekiel 2: Guidelines for church workers

Submit to God and obey His will (vs. 7)And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

Commentary on Luke 8: The divine touch of Jesus

Luke 8 vs. 43-46

43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

  1. The woman with the issue of blood for 12 years touched Jesus and was healed
  2. Someone needs to touch Jesus today, to receive a miracle.
  3. Someone needs to be touched by Jesus to receive healing

  5. Receive the touch of Jesus for favour
  6. Receive the touch of Jesus for fruitfulness
  7. Receive the touch of Jesus for breakthrough in Jesus name.

Luke 2 Commentary: Bible on women ordination

  2. Some churches believe it is biblical, others believe in the contrary.
  3. A biblical truth and fact is that women served in Apostolic offices in the Bible.
  4. One of such is Anna, described in the Bible as a Prophetess, a widow and aged 84 years – Luke 1 vs. 36
  5. Anna was also a prayer warrior and fasted day and night.
  6. Anne was also a Missionary, Evangelist and Preacher – Luke 1 vs. 38
  7. May God give us the grace and wisdom to believe the Bible, rather than Church doctrines in Jesus name.

Sermon: Stop them before they stop you. Kill them before they kill you

1 Samuel 2 vs 6
“The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.”

  1. Pharaoh wanted to stop Israelites from entering the promised land, but the God of Israel killed him at the Red sea.
  2. Samson refused to stop Delilah from seducing him, and the enemies of Samson, the Philistines, killed him.
  3. Goliath boosted against the Lord and vowed to stop the Israelites from entering the land of milk and honey, but David rose up and beheaded Goliath.
  4. 850 false prophets gathered on Mount Carmel to kill Elijah, but Prophet Elijah called down fire from heaven and killed all the 850 false  prophets with a sword. 1 Kings 18.
  5. King Ahaziah sent 100 soldiers to arrest Elijah, but Prophet Elijah called down fire from heaven and killed all the 100 soldiers. 2 Kings 1.
  6. Haman planned to kill Mordecai and the Jews, but the Jews prayed and Mordecai was hanged.
  7. Herod wanted to kill Baby Jesus, as a matter of  fact he killed thousands of babies while searching for Jesus; but Herod died suddenly and Jesus fulfilled destiny.
  8. Herod demanded for the head of John the Baptist.
Unfortunately, John the Baptist  allowed his enemies to use his head as pepper soup rather than calling  down  fire from heaven in the power and spirit of Elijah
  9. Stephen full of Holy Ghost (See Acts 7 vs 54) , prayed for his murderers as he was being stoned to death. If he was Elijah, fire would have consumed his enemies.
  10. Herod killed James with the sword, but when he wanted to kill Peter, the Brethren rose up in prayer and stopped him. Acts 12
  11. Forty Jews swore not to eat and drink until they kill Paul ( See Acts 23 vs 13). They all died of hunger because God saved Paul.
  12. Conclusion
Beloved, if you don’t stop the enemy like David stopped Goliath, the enemy will stop you.
  13. If you refuse to spiritually kill your enemies like the Jews killed Haman, your Hamans will use your blood for witchcraft pepper soup.
  14. If you behave like Samson and refuse to kill sin in your life, you may end up dancing in a party organised by your enemies to celebrate  your downfall.

Stop them before they stop you.

Kill sin before it kills you.

Kill your enemies spiritually before they kill you.Image result for 1 Samuel 2 vs 6 “The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.”

Memorise: “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10)

Read: Colossians 1:9-11

In Acts 2, after Peter delivered a powerful few minutes’ sermon, he made an altar call and 3000 souls responded. This shows that he was experiencing open Heavens. I have observed that prospering is not so much as the line of business or one’s expertise in one’s field (although these matter) as much as whether Heaven is open or closed to the individual.

If Heaven is open to you, even when all you sell is water, you will stand out and be a multi-millionaire. If it is firewood you are selling, people will stop patronizing others, and all roads would lead to your location. If you are operating a canteen, people will come to ask where you learnt to cook so well.

This season, Heaven will be opened to you. Peter and John had been seeing the lame man at the Beautiful Gate parish for years but could not do anything. But when Heaven opened to them on the day of Pentecost, they met the same lame man at the same location, in the same state, but this time, they had something to offer (Acts 3:1-8). When Heaven opens to you, you will have something to offer to the needy.

Thank God for laying on of hands. Many lives have been dramatically affected through this. The reason some lay hands on your head and nothing happened, is because the hands were empty. Heaven has not empowered them. In Matthew 3:16, not only did the Holy Spirit descend on Jesus, He also abode with Him. Jesus became the permanent residence of the Holy Spirit.

When Heaven opens to you, you will be guaranteed of divine presence which also means divine backing over whatever you embark on. According to Acts 10:38, Jesus could produce good works because God was with Him. If you desire to do good or be full of good works, you must crave the divine presence in your life. Have you been struggling with living the Christian life? Are you compromising with unbelieving colleagues in your office? Is it difficult for you to stand for the truth in the face of compromising believers?

Do you find it difficult to forgive that neighbour who has offended you? You need open Heavens to release the divine presence that can help you do what you cannot ordinarily do. The Lord will open Heaven upon you and empower you to be fruitful in serving Him, living right, and in doing every good work in Jesus’ Name.

Lord, as never before, let me be a carrier of the Holy Spirit.

romans-11-22-660x330Memorise: “Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off” (Romans 11:22 )

Read: Romans 11:17-24

Our God is called Wonderful (Isaiah 9:6). He is loaded with awe-causing events – both good and bad and distributes these to people, depending on whether they are friends or foes. He revealed Himself to the Israelites and the Egyptians as the Wonderful, only that each saw His wonders from two different ends.

Another person who knew Jesus as the Wonderful was Peter. In Luke 5:1-11, after exhausting all effort without catching a single fish, Peter encountered Jesus. From the same lake where he could not catch a fish, with the revelation of the Wonderful, Peter’s catch sank two ships. When the Wonderful is involved in your case, where you could not get anything from will be the same place, idea, business, profession or family you will obtain a harvest beyond comprehension.

Peter was so shocked, awe-stricken and dumb-founded at this surprise pack from the Wonderful that he became confused on how to respond. This season, the Lord will release a positive surprise package into your hands that will cause you to open your mouth in surprise in the Name of Jesus Christ.

“Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off” (Rom 11:22). God’s goodness is released from His positive wonder packs, while His judgement come from the negative wonder packs. In today’s reading, we are told of the dealings of the Wonderful with both Jews and Gentiles. Initially, God chose to introduce Himself to the Israelites.

He specially chose them as His children and fought against all their enemies. Even when Jesus came, He said He was sent to the lost house of Israel (Matthew 15:24). Also in Acts 1:8, priority was given to Israel. These were all parts of the pleasant surprises from the Wonderful. But when they continued to grieve His Spirit, He cut them off and started dealing with the Gentiles. That was His severity – a negative surprise as far as the Jews were concerned.

Are you a believer? You qualify for pleasant surprise packs from the Wonderful. But if you do not sustain your righteous standing and daily make Him happy, He may show you another aspect of His surprises – judgement. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name. You are the one to determine which surprise package will come to you by your works, thoughts and desires.

Lord, as you visit me with good surprise packs, visit every oppressor of my destiny with negative surprises.

Prayer point: My star and glory must shine

Posted on Updated on

  By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him” (Matthew 2:11a)

Read: Matthew 2:1-8

birth-of-jesus“And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child: and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also” (Matthew 2:8).

After Jesus was born, some wise men came looking for Him. We want to learn one or two things from this passage. First, the people that came searching for Jesus were no ordinary men. They were the wise men of their day.

In those days, kings depended on the advice of their wise men. These were powerful people who prophesied, explained omens and dark secrets, interpreted dreams and generally practiced divinations. They were well respected and feared by kings because they were of priestly caste.

If a commoner had come to king Herod with the news of the birth of a unique king, he would have laughed it over and gone to sleep. But when these powerful and revered wise men came from a distance with the message, Herod was afraid.

God got his attention through this. He thought, if these powerful priests who were skilled and versed in the study of the stars could leave their country with the intention of worshipping a new born baby king, then, it must be a serious matter. Herod and his men had no rest from the moment the bombshell was delivered.

God knows how to get your attention. Just one unpleasant news is enough to get somebody’s attention. Have you been trying to get somebody’s attention but your efforts never paid off? Is the fellow always complaining of not having time? If you call on the Attention Specialist to intervene, the fellow would suspend everything else just to attend to you.

Whoever has ignored you, your family or desires for so long will have no choice but to attend to you this season in Jesus’ Name. Besides, these honourable wise men decided to see the One the special star announced. There are stars and there are stars. The star announcing Jesus was an unusual one. It was so remarkable that they knew this King was no ordinary king. That He was a child did not matter.

They knew this child was the King of kings. They were determined to go and worship Him: They told king Herod that there is a Super King that kings should worship, and he too promised to do so, although he was not sincere. Are you a king? Are you a man or woman of authority? Then you need to know this King that kings, lords, and great people must worship. If you fail to bow your heart to Jesus, your position or power can be voided.

Go on your knees and worship this Super King for at least one hour.

Memorise: “So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands” ( Psalm 78:72)

Read: Genesis 2:21-22

psalm78In Genesis 24:1-6, not only was Abraham concerned about Isaac’s bride, he ensured his chief servant was put under oath to pick from his home town. For many years, Abraham sojourned in Canaan – the promised land yet when it came to choosing a wife for his son Isaac, he went home. A time to marry is a time to return home – to the Body of Christ.

Every believer has his or her spouse waiting in the Body of Christ, not necessarily in the same denomination. Are you single and trusting God for a husband or wife? Go back to the Body of Christ. Once you have accepted God’s verdict that unbelievers are completely out of it – no matter how intelligent, rich, understanding or compatible the fellow may be, the next thing is to decide whether you want to choose by yourself, through some assistance by men, or you want God to choose for you.

You are free to choose a fellow believer as a marriage partner but there are high risks involved in this. It is possible the fellow you see as very zealous, up and doing and an ideal spouse could be putting up an act, or may be a spiritual weight. Many believers have fallen prey to such actors in the past and are today full of regrets.

A promising young brother got involved with a sister who joined the church. She went through the young converts class and was water-baptized. Before the pastor knew it, they were seeing each other and eventually fell into fornication. After the brother was disciplined, he went ahead to marry the lady. Years later, the initial fire in the brother refused to ignite.

He continued to serve God peripherally. When he was being considered for a ministerial training, his wife was the excuse. Her presence in his life had quenched the Pentecostal fire in him. Younger believers have come and over taken the brother, yet his eyes have not opened to his persistent lukewarm state. Another reason not to choose by yourself is that whatever you use as criteria for your choice may not stand the test of time.

If you are choosing him because he is rich or choosing her because she is very pretty, what happens when that wealth or beauty disappears tomorrow? You can be sure that will become a big problem. Also, human beings are generally limited in their ability to make right choices. You may be choosing that fellow because of what you can see today instead of looking at his tomorrow. Let God choose for you!

Some pastors manipulate their members to marry only from their local parish contrary to the will of God. Never play God in the lives of those under you!

Memorise: “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19)

Read: Mark 4:35-41

matthgew-18Jesus encounter with Heaven in the Garden called Gethsemane reveals the immutability of God. He cannot be changed by our prayers since He maintains His essence eternally. If prayer cannot change God, why pray? If prayer cannot change God, it can change people. For instance, on Mount Carmel in 1 Kings 18:36-39, the same people who had equated the Almighty God with idols suddenly began to scream: “The Lord is God, the Lord is God” after prayer.

If people are undecided on who the true God to be worshipped is, it is because we believers have not prayed to the point of effecting a change. Many believers were prayed into the Kingdom. I am one of them. Are your loved ones, relatives and friends still living in sin? It is an evidence that you have not prayed enough for them. Back up your evangelism with serious intercession as you stand on scriptures that promise salvation for the lost. Many evangelistic outreaches and efforts are lost to prayerlessness.

With prayer, you can change the decisions of people on issues. Those who were opposed to you can become affectionately disposed to you if you can pay the price on your knees. Your prayer closet is a strong control room. Use it regularly from today or you will be held accountable for the changes you could have made which you failed to make.

Although prayer cannot change God, it can however change situations and circumstances for good. Every challenge, situation or circumstance that comes your way is waiting for the right prayer heat to change it. Through prayer, you rename problems. Whatever does not make you happy can suddenly be changed to deliver your greatest joy, if exposed to the appropriate change agent – effective and fervent prayer.

In 1 Samuel 16:11-13, a shepherd boy changed his job and became a most famous king through prayer. What is that unpleasant situation before you now? Confront it with your prayer fire and see it change before you. When the wind and waves arose against Jesus and His disciples in Mark 4:35-41, He said a prayer of decree and the tempest ceased. What is that contrary wind blowing against your family or business? Take it up in prayer and it shall cease.

Agree with your prayer partner over a certain matter you want to come to pass and pray about.

Memorise: “Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off” (Psalm 138:6)

Read: 2 Kings 5:9-12

138Elisha heard how the Israeli king tore his royal robe into shreds for fear that the king of Syria was seeking an occasion for war with them, so he invited Naaman over to his house. Naaman came with pomp and pageantry. He came with fine horses and chariots and was decorated with his uniform as a general. He got to Elisha’s house but felt it was not presentable enough so he stayed outside. He was the one in need of help yet he was the one exhibiting pride.

With all the things he was proudly displaying, he was still a leper. Without Jesus Christ, a sinner is still a sinner no matter how highly placed he is. Sin in the life of a sin is worse than leprosy, hence a sinner is worse than a leper. Every sinner is far removed from God except the fellow takes advantage of the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.

This talks of the efficacy of the blood of Jesus Christ. What is meant here is that even if one’s sins have been doubly immersed into the deep coloured dye of the coccus worm meant to give it a permanent fix, it can be restored to its original whiteness. The blood of Jesus can both deal with the colour and texture of sin. This means, no matter what sin you have committed, there is forgiveness for you if you can sincerely come to Jesus and ask for cleansing by His blood today.

Another lesson here has to do with attitude. Pride and blessing never go together. Psalm 138:6 says, “Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off”. The spirit of pride can never walk in agreement with our God. Never! As high as God is, He will only regard the lowly or humble seeker. You cannot seek God if you feel too big, too knowledgeable or too wise.

As long as you cannot come down from your high tower to meet God at the lowly place, you may never meet Him. Whenever you are seeking God’s blessing, align your ways with His. Humble yourself. Forget how important people say you are. Come to Him as a nobody – someone who is helpless, hopeless and impoverished. Call out to Him with humility and He will hear you. Some people cannot get their desires, not because they are not asking, but because they are asking from a high place instead of the lowly place.

Humility is key to receiving from God.

Memorise: “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant” (Jeremiah 1:10)

Read: Matthew 3:13-17

kjv_jeremiah_1-10Mark 16:15-18 says after you are born again and have undergone a valid water baptism – by immersion, the next thing to expect is the manifestation of the miraculous. If you are born again but have not been baptized correctly, immediately take steps to correct this. Heaven is keen on your demonstrating to the world the change experienced inside of you. The world is waiting to see the Jesus that is in you. May they not be disappointed in Jesus’ Name.

In today’s reading, as soon as Jesus Christ was baptized, the Heavens opened to Him. This year, you will experience open Heavens in Jesus’ Name. There are several benefits that descend when the Heavens open. First, when Heaven opens, power descends. When the Heavens opened to Jesus, suddenly Jesus of Nazareth became Jesus Christ of Nazareth – the Anointed One. The ability to succeed, perform miracles, signs and wonders suddenly came.

Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”. The moment the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus, He became a different person. Signs, wonders, and miracles became common place in His ministry. Shortly before His ascension, He told His disciples in Acts 1:8 that they too would receive the power He got.

When the Holy Ghost comes upon you, it means Heaven has opened to you. When this power from Heaven alights on you, you would have the ability to succeed in all you do. Infact, accomplishing difficult tasks become stressless.

When Heaven opens to a minister, when he makes an altar call, people will rush forward on their own. Those who have been complacent towards the things of God would hear his message and break down weeping. When Heaven opens to a preacher, before he waves his hands, the sick would be healed. Demons would see him and flee. Have you been struggling?

Have you been preaching with few or no responses to your altar call? Has it been difficult for you to market your products or services? You need open Heavens. In the Name of Jesus, I command the Heavens to open over you today. This season, Heaven will open to release your blessing in the mighty Name of Jesus.

Some friends take you up while others bring you down. Lord, replace every evil friend with friends who will lift me up.

Memorise: “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler” (Psalm 91:4 )

Read: Matthew 2:13-15

underhisfeathersGod is the ultimate in protection. Anyone who comes into a covenant relationship with Him by the blood of Jesus Christ is in a safe place. When negative covenants are broken and the aggrieved enemy or cult plans to take revenge or evoke their pre-agreed consequences of such a violation on the offending believer – like the wise men from the east, he is under divine protection and therefore free from hurt.

When the wise men broke their agreement to disclose the whereabouts of the child born King to king Herod, the latter was furious but could do them no harm. Although breaking good covenants is contrary to God’s Word, God however expects you to cancel all previous negative covenants or agreements with the devil or sin partners. If you don’t, such unbroken negative covenants remain Satan’s inroads into the life of that believer. If you had agreed to offer a particular sacrifice at a shrine before you became born again, you are no more under that bondage.

Don’t go back to that shrine. If you had agreed to the sexual advances of the fellow who proposed marriage to you before you received Christ, that agreement is now null and void. If he threatens to quit that relationship, it is better for you; God will give you someone far better. Anyone who threatens to call off a planned wedding because you refused to sleep with him is not worth marrying. Let the fellow go!

Some believers are still haunted by past agreements. Do not let this continue. Bring them under the blood of Jesus and you will be safe. God can protect every child of His. However, how that protection is delivered should be left entirely in God’s hands. For instance, to protect baby Jesus, God asked Joseph to flee secretly to Egypt. To protect Moses, God took him to the palace of his greatest enemy and was raised with the funds of Egypt.

Was God weak when He asked Joseph to run? No. It is just that running to Egypt had something to do with a prophecy earlier given concerning Him. And that was the way of escape God has provided for Him. To protect you from an accident, God may ask you not to enter a particular bus. If you refuse, you may be outside God’s protective cover. At other times, He will tell you not to worry. The bus will be involved in an accident but you will escape unhurt. You ought to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

Many believers have become victims of accidents or problems they could have avoided because they wanted to dictate their protection mode. God always provides for your protection. However, always find out the details from Him.

The keys to accessing Heaven’s protection are sensitivity and obedience to the Holy Spirit.

Memorise: “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end….” (Isaiah 9:7a)

Read: Isaiah 9:6-7

messiahOf the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end….” (Isaiah 9:7a). There are different kinds of kingdoms – that of men and that of the devil. There is another Kingdom – a very special one at that – where every subject is either a king or a queen because the King of that Kingdom is called the King of kings. About 6000 years ago, there was a government which existed in the Garden of Eden. This was the government of Adam (Genesis 1:26-28).

This kingdom was prosperous and glorious and the gold there was grade one – better than the one commonly seen today (Genesis 2:8-12). Adam – the head of that government had a lot of time. He spent his time commissioning animals, projects, and other things similar to what contemporary governors and presidents do today. Then God looked down from Heaven and decided to give him something special (a wife) to make him complete. Then trouble came.

Since then, even when God knows you need some miracles, if you fail to ask Him, you may not have it. Why? Adam said God caused him to sin by giving him the woman he never asked (Genesis 3:12). That was the beginning of a most unexpected change. Adam lost his government and a new government headed by Satan took over.

Satan’s government was obtained through deception. This satanic government is what controls the world today with billions of people under it, except a few who have rebelled against that government and have opted for a divine government. Satan’s government is one of degradation and vain glory since God’s glory was taken up the moment Adam fell.

It is also a government of loneliness as Adam became separated from His Source after the fall (Genesis 3:8). It is a government of fear (Genesis 3:9-10). It is a government of curses (Genesis 3:16-19 ). If you find yourself almost succeeding but never able to achieve that success, it is an evidence that you are under a curse. It is a government of loss. Adam was sent out of his earthly paradise. It is a government of failure, disappointment, sorrow and death.

Anyone under the satanic government will be fed with all these tokens of the liar. Are you under Satan’s government? If you are still living in sin, you are under the government of Satan. If you find it difficult to obey God’s Word, you are still under Satan’s government. Everyone under his government becomes a victim of Satan’s manipulations, attacks and unhealthy control.

It is easy to fall into the pit of fornication but it takes the grace of God to come out of it. Ask God to bring you out of any sinful pit.

Memorise: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Read: Luke 15:17-19

prodigal-sonTo ride on horse back is unusual progress. Effortless progress is quite an exciting experience. Who would not want to come to church when you know that the blind could see, the lame could walk or you will receive a miracle judging by past services? The presence of the miraculous has a way of spicing people’s enthusiasm to attend church meetings.

On the other hand, why won’t people lose interest in coming to church when they know it is the same praises, sermon or activity? Nothing is as spiritually killing as a cold Sunday sermon. Ministers must pay the price to deliver life-giving sermons to the congregation. In the Early church, they had great services both in the temple and in house fellowships. It was glorious progress because the leaders were riding on the back of the Holy Spirit.

Struggling stops the moment you ride on the back of the Holy Ghost. If only we can allow the Holy Spirit to carry us instead of carrying ourselves, the world will see remarkable exploits they never imagined. This is because riding is next to flying.

What can a trekking prince do to get back on the horse? First, find out what you did wrong that got you displaced. This calls for frank and unbiased personal examination. Ask yourself, where did things go wrong? Once you discover this, acknowledge your fault like the prodigal son. Willingly retrace your steps and make amends.

You would need the help of somebody greater than you to help you unseat the servant that is riding your horse because that servant would do anything to prevent a return to trekking. In the case of Samson, he cried to the Almighty God for help (Judges 16:28-30). Some time ago, our church was increasing by about 100 people every one or two months. I thought we were doing great but one day, God told me I was trekking instead of riding. Then He reminded me of the glorious days when the two of us will be chatting in my car.

Sometimes, I would stop the car just to discuss with Him. So He asked when last that happened? I apologized and put things right. That marked a new beginning for me. As you reconcile and restitute, and the Lord puts you back on the horse, keep all servants where they belong. Your flesh is your number one servant. It must be kept under (1 Corinthian 9:27).

Also, always remember to remain under the authority of the One who can lift up and pull down. Or else, no servant will want to obey you. In addition, pray without ceasing ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17). If you cannot pray, you are indirectly telling God you do not need Him. You will be restored to your horse back but stay there by His power and grace.

Some believers are trekking today because they took their internal weaknesses for granted until they were enslaved by them.

Why Christians celebrate Christmas?

Luke 2 vs. 11 – For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour is born which is Christ the Lord

1. When God created the earth as recounted in Genesis 1, man was sinless.

2. Man was also supposed to live forever in fellowship with God. But this was based on one simple condition- man must worship God and disobey his commandments.

3. In creating man, God gave man the freewill to decide on his choices, between good and bad, right or wrong.

4. Unfortunately, the first man-Adam, lured by his wife- Eve (acting under the influence of Satan a fallen angel of God) disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Even- Genesis 3. God had commanded that both of that must not taste of this fruit.

5. As a result of this sin ( act of disobedience) , man fell from the favour of God, lost the opportunity of living for ever, and came under the dominion of Satan who influenced man to act contrary to God.

6. Since Adam and Eve were the first human beings that were created, every of their offspring (now including you and I) automatically inherited the genetic sinful from them, lost the opportunity of living on earth forever, and also came under the influence and dominion of Satan.

7. Sin became a debt man owned to God, and every man that was being born through a biological process inherited this debt. If let unchecked, man would be under the dominion of God forever. The penalty or punishment to be paid for this sin is death, both physically and spiritually.

8. God is fair, and would not bend rules even in his own case. Though he was saddened by the downfall of man, he had to work out a fair way of redeeming man from his debt.

9. The only person that could pay back this ‘debt’ back to God on behalf of man, and clear man of his sin is someone who is not born through the ancestral line of Adam and Eve, and therefore blameless.

10. No man on the face of earth that biologically descended from Adam and Eve could pay this debt and clear man from the sin of the Garden of Eden.

11. God had to come to earth in human form to perform this redeeming role. Since God was not created or born through a biological process, he alone is sinless and blameless.

12. He caused himself to be divinely born through a virgin woman- Mary outside the natural process of sexual intercourse between a man and a woman.

13. To put in simply, Virgin Mary had spiritual (rather than the human sexual) intercourse with the Holy Spirit thereby empowering Mary to conceive a child. This should not be difficult to understand for anyone if we know and accept the fact that God is the Creator who created the first man through a non biological process.

14. The Holy Spirit is a person, and a form of God. He is invisible and acts for and on behalf of God on earth.

15. To explain further, God manifests in three forms- as God, the father, as God the Holy Spirit, and with the birth of Jesus, as the Son of God. But this is not the subject of discussion here.

16. Jesus Christ is therefore and in fact God in human form.

17. Mary was not only a virgin but was conceived of the Holy Spirit, before the birth of Jesus Christ. Now, sin is naturally inherited through the paternal line, because the man is divinely recognized as the Head of the family. This means a child cannot inherit sin from his mother, but only from the mother.

18. Jesus Christ was therefore born sinless and blameless. A perfect person to carry out the work of canceling the sin of man as inherited from the Garden of Eden.

19. The main reason Jesus was born was therefore to cancel man’s sin and destroy the dominion of Satan who originally lured him into sin over him. To achieve this, God worked it out so that Jesus was wrongly charged and crucified for an offence he did not commit.

The people who committed this act worked under the influence of Satan, the fallen of God who originally caused man to sin, and was hitherto denying man access to God’s benefit. (By using that sin of man as a basis of accusing man before God.)

20. This had two implications. First, by influencing the process of the cruxification of a blameless man, Satan himself committed a sin, and therefore lost the moral basis of continuing accusing man of sin in the Garden of Eden.

Second, there is a spiritual law that the only way of canceling a sin or offence committed against God is by shedding a blood. Before the birth of Jesus, the Israelites made blood sacrifices in order to seek forgiveness of God from their sins. But since this blood was of animals, it was not perfect and could not permanently cleanse mankind of his sins.

21. Because Jesus was a sinless and perfect human being, only his blood became the perfect sacrifice to wipe off the original sin of man; and destroy all the evil works of Satan over man brought about by Satan’s dominion over man.

22. Jesus was therefore born in order to achieve a goal of cleansing man from the originally sin that every man inherited from Adam and Eve, and restored the originally plan of God of ensuring Man lives forever in fellowship with God.

23. It is for this simple reason that Jesus Christ is called a Savior. By his birth and death on the cross, Jesus successfully performed his salvation mission.

24. Now, any man that now wants to be reconciled from his fallen state back to God had to come to Jesus, and use name to get to the God.

25. Jesus is therefore like the visa to heaven- and in this case the only available visa. No other person in history was sent by God to perform this redeeming mission. Jesus is the ticket to God. He is the Key to the gates of Heaven. He is the power of God over every satanic dominion on earth. He is the Saviour.

26. As the world marks and celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus every one must know why Jesus was born. And the big question is have you availed yourself the golden opportunity of becoming reconciled to God through Jesus Christ?

27. Here are simple steps you should take now to achieve this:

· Repent of any known or unknown sins. Repentance means regretting the sins and deciding not to commit the sins again.

· Tell Jesus Christ that you believe his salvation mission and ask Jesus Christ the saviour to cleanse these sins away by his

precious blood.

· Ask God to forgive you of these sins and accept you back as his son.

· Tell the Holy Spirit, the form of God on earth to come and guide your life in holiness henceforth.

· Congratulations! You are now a born again- a child of God.

· To build your relationship with God, start attending a local Christian church where you will listen to the word of God and share experiences with other Christian.

· Get a copy of the Holy Bible and read more about God and his plans for you.
· Talk to God in prayer.

Should a Christian marry an unbeliever?

Posted on Updated on

  By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

Read: Genesis 24:1-6

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof” (Genesis 2:21).Image result

God is the author of marriage. Marriage was originally designed to be one of the most beautiful relationships that could exist. But the fall of man into sin has produced several versions of marriages.

Today, all kinds of things happen in marriage because we have left God out of an institution He established. Couples choose to go ahead into marriage without consulting Heaven’s manual for marriages. No wonder things are not as were originally designed. The good news is that no matter how bad the situation might have been with your marriage or family, it can be brought back on line as you return to the basics. This season, the Lord will intervene in your family and give you a true home in Jesus’ Name.

In Genesis 24, Abraham had advanced in age when he arranged for his son Isaac to be married. He was very concerned about where his son’s wife would come from. He warned his chief servant – Eliezer not to take any of the daughters of Canaan even though he lived there. In verse four, he says, “But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac”.

And he made him to swear that he would do as instructed. Beloved, just as Abraham was concerned about where his son would marry from, so also is the Lord concerned about where your spouse would come from. It is clear from Abraham’s experience that there are places believers can marry from and those we cannot marry from. Believers are forbidden marriage to Canaanites – unbelievers.

Are you single and searching for a partner? God your Father is very concerned about it. In 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, He warns that you should not consider an unbeliever as your partner. It is spiritually suicidal to do so. If you are genuinely born again but you are in a relationship with an unbeliever or an unsaved churchgoer, break that relationship or you may regret it later.

The least a believer can do is to marry any fellow believer, but this is not good enough. God does not want you to be married to just any believer but the right one for you. Every believer has a right partner. Prayerfully wait on God for the fellow. Besides, God cares about every other aspect of your life. If you can lay all your cares and worries on Him, He will prove to you that He cares.

A believer with God’s gifts who sins will continue to manifest the gifts. If he repents, the Holy Spirit will continue from where He stopped. But if he does not repent, demons will take over the use of his gifts.

Memorise: “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32)

Read: Matthew 10:32-33

christA young slave girl that was brought into the house of Naaman witnessed of the power of her God and eventually linked her master to his miracle (2 Kings 5:2-4). Never underestimate the power of a maid, house help or subordinate. You cannot tell if the person you are looking down upon is the same avenue for the miracle you crave. In any case, with how many people have you shared your testimony?

A driver led his female boss to Christ and she also led another lady to Christ. This second lady brought in a harvest of souls to the Kingdom through whom about 12 churches were established. All from the testimony of one driver! There will be lots of surprises in Heaven. Some insignificant people – house maids, messengers, cooks, gardeners, drivers, house boys, etc. who were faithful witnesses of Christ will be sitting closer to Jesus Christ, than many well acclaimed pastors.

The name of this maid was not mentioned because she was considered insignificant. But I believe when we get to Heaven, the Lord Jesus will introduce her to us as the one who brought salvation to Naaman. She will stand tall among others on that day!

I want Jesus to talk about me to God, His angels and fellow brethren. This is more important than when men sing your praise. In Matthew 10:32, Jesus says, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven”.

Do you know by declaring God’s goodness in your life or His saving grace, you are sowing on earth? Each time you preach Christ to somebody, you sow a seed. However, Psalm 126:5-6 calls it precious seed because it is a rare seed that is sown on earth, but releases its harvest in Heaven. Of all seeds anyone can sow, soul winning is the greatest because apart from the immeasurable harvest, Jesus Christ will become the herald of the soul winner.

He will summon the angels and everyone in Heaven and talk about how good, loving and kind the soul winner is to His Kingdom. No wonder soul winners are very popular in Heaven! People would have heard so much about you even before your arrival.

Besides, He will take the fellow’s matter to God and speak so well about him that the Father would be compelled to grant his requests. This period, lead at least 10 souls to Christ, then ask Him to intercede on your behalf before God.

You can determine how popular you will be in Heaven by how popular you make Jesus on planet earth.

Memorise: ” And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail” (Hebrew 1:12)

Read: Hebrews 1:8-12

hebrew1In Matthew 26:36-46, the Lord Jesus Christ went into a garden called Gethsemane with His disciples. He separated Himself to seek God’s face on an issue. He prayed. The prayer He said that day was so remarkable because the salvation of mankind depended on it. He prayed until His physical strength gave way to supernatural strength. He agonized in prayer until His sweat became as thick as blood.

Until then He had a record of 100% answers to prayer requests but on this day, He repeated the same request three times yet God did not change His mind. From this, we learn that where God’s plan or purpose is involved, no amount of prayer can cause Him to negate them. If you are asking God to change His Word, you are wasting your time and effort. Rather, ask to know His will and align with it.

“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). Prayers do not change God. The above scripture tells us we are not consumed because of God’s immortality. James 1:17 says God cannot even change in the slightest degree while Hebrews 13:8 says He retains his essence in spite of fleeting moments, situations and circumstances.

Before, during and after your prayer, God remains God. He does not change. Your request does not add to or subtract from Him. Your prayer does not strip him of his dress. What He wore before creating the world is still what He is wearing. The fashion of earth fades away and continues to change but heavenly fashion never changes. God’s clothes are of the best designer – made by Himself, hence it does not need to be changed. He wears light. God is not carried away by the direction the multitudes are going.

God is eternally God. His seat is never vacant for anyone to contest for it. That might be one of Satan’s bones of contention but there is nothing anyone can do about it. God cannot be dethroned but is willing to share His throne with His human favorites, not angels. And this is for all eternity! For all who will share God’s throne, they will become unchangeable as God is.

Can you imagine yourself sharing God’s throne with Him? To do this you must be genuinely saved. You must overcome sin, Satan, the flesh and the world like Jesus did. You have to love and obey Him beyond everyone else. This year, God will not change His good plans towards you.

Jesus died for street urchins too. Pray and plan to present Christ to them and to take them off the streets.

Memorise: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:16)

Read: Mark 16:15-17

baptismShortly before Jesus began His ministry, He went to river Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. Immediately after this, the Heavens opened. One vital lesson for us today is that everyone who is truly born again and undertakes baptism by immersion according to Heaven’s specification could encounter Heaven. When you give your life to Christ, change occurs inside you.

One of the reasons for water baptism is to identify with the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. More importantly, water baptism is meant to openly demonstrate the change that has occurred internally. Once there is an inward change at new birth and this change is satisfactorily demonstrated publicly through water baptism, the recipient could have an encounter with Heaven.

However, to experience this, the convert must approach water baptism with faith and lots of expectation. If you do not expect the Heavens to open to you, even when you have been genuinely saved, it may not. Faith is key in every act of obedience to trigger the miracle.

“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned (Mark 16:16). Water baptism is a necessary experience every believer should have. Jesus had to be baptized by immersion because it was divinely required (Matthew 3:15 ). There is a divine order regulating water baptism.

First, you must have truly received Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour before being baptized. If you were water baptized before your salvation experience, you have reversed the order. That baptism is null and void. If you were baptized by merely sprinkling water on you, it is not recognized. If you were baptized as an infant, or you were an adult church goer but not truly saved, that baptism is invalid. The only recognized baptism is done by immersion after being born again.

You will also discover according to Mark 16:16 that it takes being born again and being baptized to be saved or to make it to Heaven. That means, if any part of the equation is missing, there may be no Heaven. Some believers have refused to submit to baptism by immersion because they thought it was not important. No, it is. You may not make it to Heaven if you are not baptized.

Similarly, if you are baptized but not saved, there is no Heaven for you. If your baptism is invalid, enrol in the believers’ or young converts’ class today and have one that is recognized by Heaven.

God has a purpose for commanding saved souls to be baptized. Water baptism is very important. Find time to do it if you have been born again.

Memorise: “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom” (2 Timothy 4:1)

Read: Romans 1:29-31

wisemenThe wise men immediately responded to the revelation of the unusual star they saw announcing the birth of Jesus (Matthew 2:1-12). These were nobles, highly respected and feared, but when the unusual star revealed that Jesus was more than any noble they had seen, they decided to seek Him. They did not worship Herod because he was just an ordinary king. All nobles have just One person they must bow to: His Name is Jesus Christ.

Any noble, president, governor, captain of industry or highly placed individual who feels too big to bow to Jesus now, will bow to Him later – when He seats to judge all men (2 Timothy 4:1). The difference is, if you bow now to Him, He will be on your side and make you a king under His everlasting Kingdom. That Kingdom has no end (Daniel 2:44). But if you fail to bow to Him now, it will be too late for the fellow if he or she dies in that state.

Have you bowed to Jesus Christ of Nazareth? If you can bow to Him, He will make sure your enemies bow to you. It is great wisdom to bow to the King of kings. Any king in your life or circumstance who refuses to bow to His will shall be uprooted this season in Jesus’ Name.

On the other hand, before the wise men departed, king Herod entered into an agreement with them that they must bring him feedback on the city, address and details on this child born king. After they traced the star to the location of the King of kings and had worshipped and offered Him gifts, they had a dream. In it, God warned them not to return to king Herod.

In fact, they were not to take the path they came by. By this, they were to break their covenant or agreement with Herod. But why would a God who is against covenant breaking encourage breaking of certain covenants at the same time (Romans 1:29-32)? Any covenant that God does not uphold is null and void. Any covenant that goes against God’s Word or will is voidable. If before you were born again, you had a certain covenant or agreement with the kingdom of darkness, now that you are born again, you are under no obligation to stick with it.

You can and should void it. Break it. Renounce it. You are now under a new government. You must not adhere to the agreements of the secret societies, lodges, cults or covens you once belonged after you have received Christ. Also, you should not fear them because you are now operating a far higher authority than any satanic group. Submit yourself for deliverance prayers and destroy all their symbols, regalia, books and property. You have no agreement with hell. Break away from all sin partners.

List negative covenants you have been involved in. Break them one by one using the authority in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Memorise: “And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Exodus 32:33)

Read: Revelation 20:11-15

blotted-8-728“On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king” (Esther 6:1).

The story of Mordecai is an interesting one with several lessons for us today. The first thing that comes to mind is that every organized kingdom keeps records. Just as king Ahasuerus kept records of events, so does the King of kings. Heaven has lots of books out of which are some registers for human beings. Revelation 20:11-15 tells us of two sets of books – the book of life and the books of death. Everyone that is born into this world has his or her name in one of the books.

Wherever your name falls is where all your deeds will be recorded. Everyone who is born again and is still living right until time of death can be assured that his or her name is in the book of life. The moment you are washed in the blood of Jesus and become a new creature in Christ, your name enters the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27).

It takes your daily living to please Him to sustain your name there. If you return to sin, God has no choice but to erase the name of that fellow from this book. Also, what will happen to anyone and where the fellow will spend eternity will be determined by which book the fellow’s name is. Every sinner’s name is in one of the books of death, hence, they will be doomed in eternal hell.

“And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Exodus 32:33). Even from the time of Moses, it was common knowledge that God had a book where all righteous souls are listed. Are you born again? If yes, congratulations! It is not enough to have your name in the most important book in the universe. Keeping it there is the challenge.

Satan is out to delist your name from that book. That colleague that is mounting pressure on you to compromise with sin, is actually Satan’s vehicle to delist you. Some powerful names have been delisted from that book. Judas Iscariot and Demas once had their names in that book but were delisted. It is only when your name is there, that you will be entitled to your portion from God’s Kingdom. Do everything in your power to retain your name in this glorious book. Has your name been delisted? Re-enrol today!

Father, frustrate every known or unknown move of the enemy to delist my name from the Lamb’s Book of Life. Lord, fill this year’s Convention with your presence, power, and miracles. Grant us journey mercies during the Convention.

Memorise: “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24)

Read: Matthew 16:21-28

john-16God took some foundational decisions concerning you without seeking your opinion. For instance, your father, mother, siblings, place of birth, height, complexion, etc. were decided by God. If He could take such crucial decisions concerning you, why not allow Him to decide your tomorrow? According to Isaiah 3:10, it shall be well with the righteous.

This is why I know that my tomorrow shall be great. My main concern is how to make it to Heaven. Do you share my sentiment? 2 Timothy 1:12 says if you can commit yourself to God, you need not worry. When the rapture comes, because your spirit is in good hands, you will make it. Jude 24 -25 says God is able to keep you from falling. If you think you are standing, it is only by the power of God. It is because the Advocate is interceding for you even though you are not paying for His legal services. He cares for you.

I once preached a message titled ‘Joy cometh’. God told me that He is overseeing His church, and asked why I was carrying the burdens. ‘Who owns this church – you or me?’, He asked. So I replied, ‘But I thought you put me there to look after things for you?’ ‘I can take care of my own’ was His reply.

From that moment, I stopped worrying. In the past, whenever I returned from a trip, my wife would be waiting with a list of problems that should be tackled. But after this encounter with the caring owner of the church, after she had reeled out all the issues on the list, I would ask for my food. She would think I just needed strength from the food so that I could tackle the problems. But after the meal, we would pray then I would go and sleep. Sometimes, she thought I was crazy.

One day she asked why I was behaving that way and I told her it is because it is written that weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. If joy is coming tomorrow morning, why waste time worrying tonight? Somehow by the following morning, the problems would have been solved. It is also possible to borrow from the future joy. In today’s reading, a woman came to meet Jesus for the healing of her daughter. She was turned down but refused to accept defeat. She said even if the time of the Gentiles had not come, yet she must get her miracle that day. And it was so. You can enter your joy before its time. Stop worrying. God cares for you. How surrendered are you?

Father, let whatever is limiting my joy be taken out of my way and let my joy be full.

Memorise: “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed” (Ecclesiastes 5:4)

Read: Ecclesiastes 5:4-6

vowBut be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). To satisfy the deep longings of the King of kings, you must be a man of action. God is looking for doers, not hearers. During my early years as a believer, after hearing a sermon, I immediately practiced it.

When we were told in church that worldly music was not good for our spiritual growth, that very day we destroyed record albums of Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and others in our apartment. If after hearing God’s Word with conviction and you agreed to do it but failed to do it that day, you will observe that by the following day, your commitment to doing it would have reduced. And as each day passes without doing it, so goes your resolve. If you leave it for one week without doing it, you may never do it.

Many of us have made some pledges at some point in time without fulfilling it because we have forgotten. If you forget, God does not. “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed” (Ecc 5:4). Heaven takes record of all your vows. It is dangerous to be a vow debtor. God classes vow debtors and those who say there is no God as the same – fools. Pay your vows today. The way out is to pay your vow as soon as you can. No delays.

Another quality of those who would satisfy the deepest longing of the King of kings is that they must be single-minded. They must be people who know exactly what they want and make up their minds about it. Once a vow is made, there is no going back (Luke 9:62). This is why you must count the cost before taking any decision.

One thing however is that if you have taken the decision in favour of God’s Kingdom, He will help you through. You must not pursue several things at the same time. Be focused. Are you owing God? Think. If you are, immediately pay up. By paying your vows, you are telling God you are not a fool. Tell God you are not a fool by paying your vows.

As long as you fail to pay that vow debt, Heaven may withhold your blessings. One reason some believers are experiencing delays in certain areas of their lives is because they have failed to pay their debts. If you have forgotten, ask God to remind you.

Take stock of pending restitutions. Repent and go ahead and comply
