1. Proverbs 1 outlines the laws of divine success and the repercussions of disobedience to these laws
2. Proverbs 1 contains two memorable verses- 7 and 10:

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

¹⁰ My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

 

3. The proverbs of Solomon according verse 2-5 are aimed at achieving the following:

• To have wisdom
• Receive instruction
• Have understanding
• Increase humility
• Patience and avoid undue haste
• Ability to interpret and analyse situations
• To live in safety – vs33
• To be free from fear of evil- vs 33

4. The key messages of Solomon in this chapter are:

• Fear God if you want to be wise, otherwise you are a fool – vs 7
• Obey the instructions of your parents to receive grace and honour– vs 8
• Avoid evil peer pressure. Reject incentives to commit sin by those who do not fear God- vs 10
• Do not murder or commit evil to amass wealth -vs 11-18
• Cut off from greed and love of money, do not be friends that encourage greedy gain- vs 15
• Greed leads to destruction and premature death- vs 22

5. The chapter also outlines the consequences of rejecting the commandments of God

• Calamity with come – vs 26
• Such people will live in fear – vs 27
• Desolation and destruction will overtake such people -vs 28
• Distress and anguish shall overcome such people- vs 27
• God will laugh when such people experience calamity – vs 26
• God will mock such people when they experience calamity -vs 26
• God will ignore the prayers of such people- vs 28
• Such people will rise up early to seek God but God will hide himself from them- vs 28
• The prosperity they acquire by evil means will destroy them- vs 33

 

Prayers

I refuse to be enticed to hell in JESUS name

I accept the wisdom of Solomon and reject the foolishness of Solomon in Jesus name

May sin not cause your  prayers to God  to enter voice mail in Jesus name

I shall not despise wisdom in Jesus name
