One of the reasons why we must run away from the spirit of lying is because of its after effects. Lies multiply themselves and you have to tell a greater lie in used to telling lies order to cover up the former.
In most cases, the subsequently lies you tell are more grievous than the first. If you are, there is no sin you cannot commit.
A liar will eventually become an adulterer, a murderer, and a Satanist.
The long passage quoted above tells an interesting story of how Jacob deceitfully collected the blessings of his brother through lies and deceit. But the important lessons I wish to bring out from this passage is the series of lies Jacob had to tell in order to cover up his first lie of impersonation.
