Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect – Matthew 5 vs. 48

  1. Jesus listed various criteria for making heaven, and these include the poor in spirit- verse 5; pure in heart- verse 8; and those persecuted for righteousness- verse 10.
  2. Jesus also listed qualities of good Christian, which are meekness- verse 5; merciful- verse 7; and peacemakers- verse 9. How do you fit with these qualities?

  1. Jesus also symbolically describes Christians as the Salt of the earth- verse 13. Salt purifies, seasons, tastes, invaluable, cleanses, and heals. Are you a salt or one of the pollutants of the earth?

  1. Jesus also symbolically describes Christians as the Light of the world- verse 14. Light gives protection, peace, direction, clarification, dries wetness, provides energy, and clears our darkness. Are you a source of light to the world, or your work is reinforcing darkness in the world?

  1. Jesus also taught that he came not to abolish the mosaic old testament laws but to fulfil them. Verse 17. We need spiritual direction in interpreting the mosaic laws in the light of the new testament revelation that Jesus represents.

  1. You can’t make heaven by being religious. For instance, the Pharisees pay tithes religiously. You need to do pay more than tithes by faith not as a form of a tax, to fulfil rigorousness. Matthew 5 vs. 20 – For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

  1. Anger may deny some people a place in Heaven. Don’t be angry without a cause , and be quick to forgive.

Matthew 5 vs. 22 – But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

  1. Your prayers will not be answered unless you forgive those who have offended you- verse 23.

Vs 23-24: Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

  1. Abusive: Let no uncouth, insultive or abusive words come out of your mouth. Don’t curse, don’t abuse, don’t say you are a fool

  1. As much as possible, avoid issues that will take you to Police station or the Court of law. Resolve issues amicably as soon as possible- verse25

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

  1. Lust is adultery of the heart. If you lust in heart after a woman, you are in danger of losing heaven

Matthew 5 vs. 28 – But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

  1. Cut off from every ungodly relationships or friends-verse 29 and 30

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

  1. Divorce not allowed unless on the basis of Adultery: If you divorce a man or woman unless on the ground of adultery, you have committed adultery

Matthew 5 vs. 32 – But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

  1. Integrity: Be straightforward. Be a man of integrity, Be a simple man.

Matthew 5 vs. 37 – But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

  1. Vengeance: Don’t take revenge- Matthew 5 vs. 40 – And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

  1. Love your physical enemies- verse 44. We must understand the enemies Jesus is making reference to are physical enemies who offend you in day to day life rather than spiritual enemies described in Ephesians 6 vs 10. Love everyone, both friends and foes – Matthew 5 vs. 46 –

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

  1. The most important requirement for making heaven is perfection. Be perfect – Matthew 5 vs. 48 – Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

  1. Repent and be saved: Repent ye and be saved-Mathew 3 vs 2

Names of Jesus Christ-Wonderful, Counselor,The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of

Posted on Updated on

  By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters” (Exodus 15:10)

Read: Exodus 15:1-11

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

In the above verse, we are told of five names and titles of our Lord Jesus Christ and each of them is not only power-packed, but also significant for His church on earth. He is called ‘Wonderful’.

This means full of wonders. The fact that He is called Wonderful means that we should expect lots of wonder, surprise-causing events from Him. Exodus 15:11 lends credence to this special name saying, “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods?Image result

Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” Why is He called Wonderful? It is because He is the custodian of wonders – both pleasant and unpleasant, and gives them out to His friends, foes and demons as situation demands.

For instance at the Red Sea, He revealed Himself to both the Israelites and the Egyptians as the One full of wonders. He gave the former pleasant wonders by parting the Red Sea for them to escape from their enemies. It was in appreciation of this that the Israelites sang the song of Moses (Exodus 15:1-19).

On the other hand, the Egyptians got their dose of surprise – but a negative one this time. They saw the Red Sea open and they went after Israel. Their mouths were open as they saw what they never saw before, and were still looking when the sea covered them.

Unfortunately, many enemies of God never live to tell the story of their encounter with the Wonderful. Someone asked, What is a wonder? A wonder is an unexpected event that leaves your mouth wide open. The Yorubas call it Iyanu – (a wonder that leaves your mouth agape). When you encounter the Wonderful, you will not know when your mouth will open in surprise. If nothing has caused you to open your mouth without closing it, you are yet to know Him as the Wonderful.

Until He reveals Himself to you as the Wonderful, you cannot assess the surprise packages in His kitty that can truly overwhelm you. From today, ask Him to reveal Himself to you as the Wonderful. Situations in your life will only respond to Him as the Wonderful.

Ask that God would terminate the activities of false prophets and false churches in this nation.

WHAT PRAYER CAN CHANGE

Posted on Updated on

    By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19)

Read: Mark 4:35-41

matthgew-18Jesus encounter with Heaven in the Garden called Gethsemane reveals the immutability of God. He cannot be changed by our prayers since He maintains His essence eternally. If prayer cannot change God, why pray? If prayer cannot change God, it can change people. For instance, on Mount Carmel in 1 Kings 18:36-39, the same people who had equated the Almighty God with idols suddenly began to scream: “The Lord is God, the Lord is God” after prayer.

If people are undecided on who the true God to be worshipped is, it is because we believers have not prayed to the point of effecting a change. Many believers were prayed into the Kingdom. I am one of them. Are your loved ones, relatives and friends still living in sin? It is an evidence that you have not prayed enough for them. Back up your evangelism with serious intercession as you stand on scriptures that promise salvation for the lost. Many evangelistic outreaches and efforts are lost to prayerlessness.

With prayer, you can change the decisions of people on issues. Those who were opposed to you can become affectionately disposed to you if you can pay the price on your knees. Your prayer closet is a strong control room. Use it regularly from today or you will be held accountable for the changes you could have made which you failed to make.

Although prayer cannot change God, it can however change situations and circumstances for good. Every challenge, situation or circumstance that comes your way is waiting for the right prayer heat to change it. Through prayer, you rename problems. Whatever does not make you happy can suddenly be changed to deliver your greatest joy, if exposed to the appropriate change agent – effective and fervent prayer.

In 1 Samuel 16:11-13, a shepherd boy changed his job and became a most famous king through prayer. What is that unpleasant situation before you now? Confront it with your prayer fire and see it change before you. When the wind and waves arose against Jesus and His disciples in Mark 4:35-41, He said a prayer of decree and the tempest ceased. What is that contrary wind blowing against your family or business? Take it up in prayer and it shall cease.

Agree with your prayer partner over a certain matter you want to come to pass and pray about.

Should a Christian marry an unbeliever?

Memorise: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

Read: Genesis 24:1-6

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof” (Genesis 2:21).Image result

God is the author of marriage. Marriage was originally designed to be one of the most beautiful relationships that could exist. But the fall of man into sin has produced several versions of marriages.

Today, all kinds of things happen in marriage because we have left God out of an institution He established. Couples choose to go ahead into marriage without consulting Heaven’s manual for marriages. No wonder things are not as were originally designed. The good news is that no matter how bad the situation might have been with your marriage or family, it can be brought back on line as you return to the basics. This season, the Lord will intervene in your family and give you a true home in Jesus’ Name.

In Genesis 24, Abraham had advanced in age when he arranged for his son Isaac to be married. He was very concerned about where his son’s wife would come from. He warned his chief servant – Eliezer not to take any of the daughters of Canaan even though he lived there. In verse four, he says, “But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac”.

And he made him to swear that he would do as instructed. Beloved, just as Abraham was concerned about where his son would marry from, so also is the Lord concerned about where your spouse would come from. It is clear from Abraham’s experience that there are places believers can marry from and those we cannot marry from. Believers are forbidden marriage to Canaanites – unbelievers.

Are you single and searching for a partner? God your Father is very concerned about it. In 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, He warns that you should not consider an unbeliever as your partner. It is spiritually suicidal to do so. If you are genuinely born again but you are in a relationship with an unbeliever or an unsaved churchgoer, break that relationship or you may regret it later.

The least a believer can do is to marry any fellow believer, but this is not good enough. God does not want you to be married to just any believer but the right one for you. Every believer has a right partner. Prayerfully wait on God for the fellow. Besides, God cares about every other aspect of your life. If you can lay all your cares and worries on Him, He will prove to you that He cares.

A believer with God’s gifts who sins will continue to manifest the gifts. If he repents, the Holy Spirit will continue from where He stopped. But if he does not repent, demons will take over the use of his gifts.

BENEFITS OF HIS WITNESSES

Posted on Updated on

  By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead” (Acts 10:41)

Read: Acts 10:39-41

acts-10“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen. That ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me” (Isaiah 43:10).

God has called you to be His witness. To what extent are you His witness? There are several benefits accruing to those who are God’s faithful witnesses. God gives power to His witnesses. In Acts 1:8 , God promises to give the disciples power so that they can be His witnesses – true representatives.

After the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost in Acts chapter two, they spoke in tongues. That was just a sign and they were filled with power. Yet God waited for them to be witnesses of Jesus before they could walk in the miraculous. Today, so many believers are baptized in the Holy Ghost and speak in tongues. Nothing more. They feel as empty as ever.

They often wonder what happened to the power God promised, or whether it has stopped with the Early Church. The power has been deposited in you the day you were baptized in the Holy Spirit. But until you use the key of evangelism (witnessing) to open the door, you may never see signs, wonders and the miraculous which the early church experienced.

Many who claim to be spirit-filled cannot cure a headache or cast out a demon. Of what use is the Holy Ghost baptism then? God never has witnesses without empowering them (Rev 11:3). If you die without releasing the power of the Holy Spirit inside you, you will give account at the judgement seat of Christ.

Being a witness is the missing link in the level of obedience many believers have manifested. 2 Corinthians 13:1 says if two or three witnesses agree on a thing, it is settled. One reason some agreement prayers have defied all efforts is because the evangelism ingredient which should open the doorway to the supernatural so that the blessing of synergy can be released, is usually missing.

If you want the agreement prayers between you and your spouse or fellow members to be more effective, become His witness. Also, in Acts 10:41, we see that the witnesses are chosen by God and as a result qualify to be given special revelations. What God will not reveal to others, He will expose to His witnesses. Hebrews 12:1 says it is God’s witnesses that are in Heaven.

Heaven has no accommodation for non- witnesses. Are you His witness? You can start by being born again. Then declare Jesus to others and lead them to Christ.

Father, let all the benefits of being Christ’s witness manifest in my life.

Commentary on Mark 2-Jesus saves

Posted on Updated on

Mark 2 vs. 17-

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

  1. Several people live in self condemnation of their past sins and iniquities.
  2. Some people erroneously believe God will not forgive them because of the enormity of the sins they have committed in the past.
  3. The fact is that the whole essence of the ministry of Jesus is not to applaud /praise the righteous but to call sinners to repentance.
  4. Jesus upbraided the rich, condemned the Pharisees and Sadducees (who thought they are righteous) for practising legalistic righteousness, exposed the folly of the man that thought he had kept all the laws and commandments;  but associated with the poor, shielded the sinner (caught in the very act of adultery)  from being stoned, dined and wined with tax collectors, and sat with unbelievers.
  5. Jesus came to save to heal and to deliver.
  6. No matter the nature of your sins they will be washed away once you confess them, repent and plead for forgiveness by the blood of Jesus.
  7. Go ahead and call on the Lord Jesus to save you.
  8. As we start a new month, it is not enough to prophecy that this is a good month, heaven will be more pleased if you decide to walk with God this month and henceforth.

Prayers

  1. This month shall open your mouth and vomit my miracles, vomit my blessings, vomit my healing, vomit my jobs, vomit my marriage, vomit my husband, vomit my children vomit my visa etc in Jesus name
  2. This month shall arise and favour me in Jesus name
  3. Blood of Jesus fight for me this month
  4. Blood of Jesus save and deliver me from economic, business, marital, and spiritual recession.

Commentary on Mark 1: How do I repent to God?

Posted on

  1. Jesus was a preacher, teacher, evangelist, and deliverer. His sermons were centred on repentance and salvation of course themes of his sermons touched on several other issues, but repentance and salvation was primary
  2. Unfortunately, the contemporary church has deviated from focusing on the centrality of repentance and salvation. Prosperity messages are now the main theme.
  3. The message of repentance preached by Jesus two thousand years ago is more relevant today.
  4. There is a reader of this message that needs to repent from sin of sexual perversion, adultery, fornication, pre-marital sex, and homo-sexuality; someone needs to repent from lying, from anger, from envy, from stealing, from witnesses, and from idolatry.
  5. Repent simply, regretting your past sins, and determining to live in holiness.
  6. Jesus gave to save you from your sins. Repent, accept him as the saviour, let his blood cleanse your sins, and save you.

Judas Iscariot: death of destiny

Commentary on Matthew 27: The reward of sin

By Babatope Babalobi +2348035897435 babalobi@yahoo.com

One of the main lessons of Matthew 27 is that the reward of sin is destruction.

  1. Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty shekels of silver but didn’t live to enjoy the thirty shekels.
  2. Judas returned the thirty shekels to the Chief priest when he saw that Jesus was crucified.
  3. When you commit a sin you will not have peace of mind.
  4. Judas betrayed Jesus by collecting thirty shekels of silver from the chief priest but the chief priest in turn betrayed him by refusing to collect back the money when Judas sought to return it.
  5. When you commit sin, your conspirators will eventually betray you. The money satan gives us for forsaking Christ really belongs to God. Judas did not cast the money to the chief priest but to the temple. All monies come from God.

Image result

  1. Any money you receive illegally is blood money. The chief priest refused to put the money into the treasury because it was blood money (Matthew 27 vs. 6) – The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.”
  2. Ill-gotten wealth ends in destruction. Judas eventually hanged himself (Matthew 27 vs.5) – So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.
  3. Judas like the other disciples should have ended up as an apostle, a saint, and the pillar of the church, but his destiny ended up on a tree because of the love of money. We now hear of Saint Peters Catholic Church, Saint James Anglican Church, Saint Mathews School, Saint Luke School..and several other monuments named after the disciples of Jesus. Have you ever heard of anything name after Saint Judas? Judas died a betrayer not a Saint, and his colorful destiny ended on a tree.

Commentary on Matthew 26: Love of money, root of all evil

Posted on Updated on

By Babatope Babalobi +2348035897435 babalobi@yahoo.com

Matthew 26 vs. 15 – and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty silver coins

 Image result

  1. Judas betrayed his master Jesus for thirty pieces of Silver.
  2. Judas covenanted with the enemies of Jesus because he was greedy for a monetary reward.
  3. Judas destroyed his destiny because of love for money.
  4. Several Christians are still falling to the error of Judas. They are asking the same question?
  • What will you give me, if I sleep with you?
  • What will you give me, if I give you that Job?
  • What will you give me, if I give you that contract?
  • What will you give me, if I help you to pass that examination?
  • What will you give me, if I approve your documents/papers?
  • What will you give me, if I give your child admission to college?
  • What will you give me, if I approve your promotion?
  • What will you give me, if I forge papers/documents for you?
  • What will you give me, if I enter into a contract marriage with you?
  • What will you give me, if I bear false witnesses/tell lies against your opponents?
  • What will you give, if I award underserved marks for you?
  • What will you give me if I will pray for you?
  • What will you give for bending rules to benefit you?

Charateristics of modern day Pharisees and Sadducees

Commentary on Matthew 23: Are you a Pharisee?

By Babatope Babalobi +2348035897435 babalobi@yahoo.com

Matt 23 vs. 2-32 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

  1. The Pharisees didn’t obey the laws they give. They gave the laws and broke the laws; Jesus came to teach people not only to believe the law, but practice the law.

Matt 23 vs. 4 – They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

  1. Pharisees increased the burdens of the people. But Jesus came as a burden bearer and yoke breaker.

Matthew 23 vs. 5: “Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;

  1. Pharisees played to the gallery, sought self-glory and dressed flamboyantly to gain public attention. Jesus lived a life of piety, humility, and meekness while on earth.

Image result

Matthew 23 vs. 6: they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;

  1. Pharisees were attention seekers and reserved grand and special seats for themselves; while Jesus lived a life of lowliness.

Matthew 23 vs. 7 – they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’

  1. Pharisees liked to be publicly addressed with double barrel and high sounding titles, while Christ was meek while on earth.

Matthew 23 vs. 13 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!

  1. Pharisees were hypocrites; as they hindered the spread of the gospel why pretending to be children of God.

Matthew 23 vs.3 – So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach,

  1. Pharisees worshiped God with their lips, not their hearts, whereas Jesus taught that worshippers must worship God in the spirit and truth.

Matthew 23 vs.8 –  “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers

  1. Pharisees liked to be introduced with flattering titles- great men of God, anointed men of God, God’s general, etc.. Whereas Jesus did not carry any title in front of his name.

Matthew 23 vs. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

  1. Pharisees encouraged people to look unto them rather than unto God, they took the glory that belonged to God by encouraging people to call and treat them as ‘father’. Whereas Jesus said there is only one father, which is God.

(Matthew 23 vs.14) – You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

  1. Pharisees oppressed, exploited and robbed the very people, including widows they are supposed to help.

Mathew 23 vs 14:  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

  1. Pharisees are pretentious, as they sought to be honored by saying long prayers in the streets.

Matthew 23 vs.17 – You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

  1. Pharisees are foolish for they honoured the gold that decorated the temple, more than the temple; they honoured the cover of the bible more than the word written.

Matthew 23 vs.23 –  “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices — mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law — justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

  1. Pharisees were religious but not merciful. They faithfully paid tithes, but failed to practice the acts of faith, mercy, holiness, and righteousness. Jesus preached that we must not only pay tithes, but also practice the spirit of the law.

Matthew 23 vs.25 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

  1. Pharisees were full of iniquity and sin. They were physically beautiful but spiritually ugly.

Matthew 23 vs.10 – Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ

  1. Pharisees made themselves lord and master over their congregation. Whereas Jesus preached that the leader should serve the followers.

Matthew 23 vs.1) – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

  1. Pharisees were great evangelists, but they ended up converting people into hell rather than heaven.

Matthew 23 vs.25 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

  1. Pharisees were materialistic, greedy, and fattened themselves through spiritual exploitation and manipulation.

(Matthew 23 vs.33) – “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell.

  1. Pharisees were cunny, deceitful, crafty, and dishonest. Jesus described them as vipers and serpents.

Matthew 23 vs.13-15 – 13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. 15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

  1. Pharisees gathered members not souls. They gathered a crowd not a kingdom. They doubled the hurdles, sinner needed to overcome to enter heaven.

I cast out the Pharisee spirit in me in Jesus name

Qualifications to enter heaven

Posted on Updated on

Romans 3 vs. 23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Revelation 21 vs. 27 – And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

  1. The Lord showed me vision of heaven few days ago.
  2. I saw people queuing at the gate of heaven desiring to enter heaven, and I also saw angelic gate keepers screening people into heaven.
  3. I noticed people on the queue were being asked just a simple question. I noticed people on the queue were being interrogated one by one. The answer to the question and response to the interrogation determines whether the person would be allowed to enter heaven or not.
  4. The simple question people were being asked is: Did you commit any sin on earth before you died that you did not confess or repent of? The issue the gatekeepers of heaven were interested in knowing is unconfessed sins the person committed while on earth.
  5. I was surprised people were not being asked how long they have been Christians, the denomination of church they attended, their role in the church, their race or parentage.
  6. The only question being asked by the gatekeepers is: What sins did you commit on earth that you did not confess before you died?
  7. I woke up and the Holy Spirit gave me a simple message that the qualification to heaven is not your denomination or church but righteousness and holiness. The only disqualification to heaven is unconfessed sin.

Sermon: Love of money root of all evils

Posted on

1 Timothy 6 vs 6-11

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

What lessons can we learn from this scriptures?

  1. Success is knowing Christ. A successful man is the one that lives in holiness and is contended with what he has. (vs 6)
  2. Life without Christ is vain. All the wealth, status, positions, and money you are struggling to acquire, you will leave all behind the day you die. (vs7)
  3. Human needs are few. Once you have food to eat, clothes to wear, and a house to stay you should be happy and contended. (vs8)
  4. Love of money leads to sin. The desire to become rich leads people into sin (vs9).
  5. Love of money is a trap. Many fall into it as they struggle to possess it (vs9)
  6. Fools love money, Wiseman love Jesus (vs9).
  7. The love for money ends in bitterness of the soul, body and spirit (vs9)
  8. The love for money leads to destruction. (vs9)
  9. The love of money is the spirit of anti-Christ (vs9).
  10. All evils are caused by the love of money (vs10).
  11. Greed for money causes Christians to backslide. (vs10).
  12. The love for money ends in sorrows.
  13. Flee from greed, flee from the love for money.
  14. Run after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness.

Bible sermon on:Signs of rapture and second coming of Jesus

Revelation 22 vs 12:  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work.

The Holy Spirit showed me a revelation this morning. I was in the company of some colleagues and we reached the bank of a river.

The water was very black, dirty, and a muddy; a few of us including me said we can’t swim in the river because its dirty.

To my surprise, before I know what was happening, some of my colleagues jumped into the dirty river without caring its dirtiness, and started swimming.

I watched in amazement.

download (1)

Suddenly I looked up and saw the clouds gathering and I ran away from the river side in order not to be beaten by rain.

It soon started to rain and I looked back at my colleagues who were swimming, and was afraid they will be drown.

I managed to escape to a building, and was ushered to a banquet Hall. And I woke up.

The interpretation the Holy Spirit gave me about the dream is this…. people swimming in dirty river… Are people willingly indulging in sin despite knowing its consequences against the prosperity of their soul, spirit, and body.

The banquet hall I saw is the marriage supper of the lamb. (He brought me to the banqueting hall and his banner over me was love – Song of Solomon 2 vs 4)

download

I pray that we shall all hate and overcome sin, and be ushered into the marriage supper of the lamb at the last day, in Jesus name.

Bible commentary on Strange woman: My encounter with a ‘strange woman’

Posted on

‘Strangers shall submit unto me’: My encounter with a strange woman

By Babatope Babalobi

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger’– Proverbs 5 vs 20

I never like hotels, unfortunately the nature of my job forces me to sleep in hotels often. Over the past years I have seen misdeeds and evils happening in several hotels- drinking spree, drunkenness, smoking, revelling, wild partying, and various forms of sexual perversion. I have come to regard hotels, largely as the hotbed and melting pot of sin. The class or rating of the hotel does not really matter, acts of unrighteousness do occur in almost all hotels.

As a man, it takes the grace of God to resist the sinful temptations that hotels exhibit, allow, and accommodate. My strategy has always been to stay in my hotel room as much as possible, and cut off from the worldliness that often take place within the premises.

I am presently domiciled in an hotel, and had an encounter with a lady that fits the Biblical description of a ‘strange woman’ See Proverbs chapter 5., few days ago. The hotel is not a brothel, and on a 1-5 rating qualifies as a three-star hotel.

Specifically, last Thursday evening, as I stepped out of my hotel room around 8pm, I was accosted less than 10 metres away by a scantily dressed lady who said she wanted to talk to me. I waited to hear what she had to say. She told me her story, saying she had come to the hotel to meet her boyfriend, but found another lady with him and he didn’t give her attention; as such she was stranded and needed some money to transport herself home.  She wanted me to help her with some money to transport herself.

As she narrated her story, I could see almost all her breasts, popping out of her loose dress. I guessed immediately that there is no truth in her fairy tale. From her enticing and sexy composure, I knew this was a lady of easy virtue looking for a sex partner, in return for a financial reward. My immediate reaction was to walk away.

However, it occurred to me that this lady was offering me with what she has, which is her body, I should also offer her what I have- which is Jesus of Nazareth. One of the principles of life is that if you don’t confess the word, the world will win you over. It occurred to me that this was an opportunity to evangelise and I ceased it by His grace.

I told her that I wish to talk to her, arguing that since I had allowed her to talk to me, she should also allow me to talk to her. She consented and suggested following me to my room which was metres away from where we stood. Of course, I declined knowing fully well – that was a trap and very risky. She them suggested we should go to the Bar, I declined and told her I didn’t mind talking to her, right there on the spot.

To cut a long story short, I told her about the love of Christ. Referring to her story in which she said her boyfriend disappointed her, I told her if she made Jesus Christ her boyfriend, she would never be disappointed. I informed her that I knew she was looking for a sex partner, and counselled her that going out to hotels looking for a sexual partner, in return for financial reward is sinful and an unsustainable source of livelihood. She should also be mindful of the medical risks and dangers involved.

She became crest fallen as I shared the gospel, and was almost crying. She never expected to hear a sermon. To the glory of God, the Holy Spirit arrested her.  She told me she is an orphan with financial challenges. I further told her the wages of sin is death, but Jesus came to carry her burdens, including financial burdens in exchange for abundant life. Finally, I encouraged her to surrender her life to Christ, and to the glory of God she agreed.

I led her through the confessional prayer, but she stopped at the point I asked her to say: ‘I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour’.

She is most likely a Muslim, as she bears the name -Amirat. From experience, I know it takes the grace of God to convert a Muslim. I knew it was the devil that was at work, and explained to her this was the most important confession she had to say in her life.                                                                                 After persuading her to no avail, I warned her that the Holy Spirit was giving her what might be a last opportunity to decide where she would spend eternity, and she just needed to confess the Lord Jesus to be saved.

I told her what is written in Romans 10 vs 9: That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. To the glory of God, she finally said the most important words: I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour.

The story did not end there. I thought I should pray with her. As I raised my voice and covered her with the blood of Jesus, she felled to the ground, and started shouting ‘Leave me alone, Leave me alone’. I knew it was the demon spirits inside her that were speaking.                                                                                               I stood on 2 Samuel 22 vs 45 that says: Strangers shall submit themselves unto me, as soon as they hear me they shall be obedient to me. Strangers shall fade away, they shall be afraid out of their closes places’ and commanded the demons’ spirits to shut up and be silenced in Jesus name.

Of course they did, for there is power in Jesus name and at the mention of his name every knee must bow- Philippians 2vs 10. Next the lady started throwing up as if she wanted to vomit. I cast out the evil spirits inside her in Jesus name. She stopped throwing up and slept off. I called the attention of an hotel staff to take her away. We discovered she was fast asleep on the ground, and had to be sprinkled with water before she woke up. She was later led away.

What lessons can we learn from this story?

  1. The devil is a roaring life looking for who to devour- 1 Peter 5 vs 8. Every Christian has a duty to resist the devil. I believe this lady who accosted me by my hotel room, was programmed from the pit of hell, but God turned it to a testimony.
  2. The Bible says when sinners entice thee, consent thee not- Proverbs 1 vs 10. Let no one say I committed sin by mistake. You have the mind and power to say No to sin.
  3. If you don’t have the word of God, the world will win you over. The Holy Spirit helped me to overcome this sexual temptation because He gave me the grace to preach the word.
  4. Most afflictions are self-inflicted. The lady was evidently demonised. I guessed if I had succumbed to her sexual advances, she would have passed demons into my life in the course of enjoying the pleasures of sin… I may not even be alive to tell the story. When I recounted the story to my wife, she said any lady that manifested in such a manner under prayer, could even turn to a snake on bed. Many people have put themselves into bondages through sins and misdeeds.
  5. Every opportunity is an opportunity to evangelise. She offered me her body, but I countered by offering her Christ. The Bible says the Light shinnneth in darkness, but darkness comprehended it not– John 1vs 4. Darkness will always bow to light.
  6. The harvest is real but the labourers are few. Who would have thought that a sex worker would surrender her life to Christ?
  7. Finally, women need to pray for your husbands not to fall into evil temptations that would not only destroy their lives but their households. Men need to beware. Strange women are on prowl. May God give us the grace to overcome temptations, and may God give us the heart to be soul winners in Jesus name.
  8. In your quiet time, remember to pray for Amirat, lady I met in the city of Yola, Nigeria on April 1, 2016. She must not go back to the world. Heaven is her portion in Jesus name. Our children, wives, and husbands shall be delivered from strange women and men in Jesus name.

Why do Christians still sin?

Posted on

1 John 3 vs. 9 – Whosoever is born of God do not commit sin for his seed remaineth in him and he cannot sin because he is born of God.

1. Does a believer commit sin and/or are born again Christians sinless? Is it possible for a Christian to continue to sin or not?
2. The answer to this question is Yes and No
3. Yes, a born again Christian is sinless because the spirit of God dwelleth in him
4. No, because the reality is that many Christians including born again Christians still commit various kinds of sin everyday
5. Sin has a very broad scope including lying, anger, malice, envy, bitterness, covetousness, lust of the heart, and material idolatry
6. A born again Christian may not be committing adultery through fornication but he may be committing adultery through lust of the heart. A born again may not be worshipping false idols or gods or oracles but may have several idols in his heart such as excessive indulgence to telephones, television, social media, food, etc. The truth is that anything that has become your habit and takes you away from the presence of God is an idol.
7. The scripture says our righteousness is like a filthy rag and we need to fight race to heaven with fear and trembling.
8. We need to continue to pray for mercy and forgiveness of known and unknown sins instead of claiming any sanctimonious righteousness.

Prayers
• Dominion of sin over my life be destroyed in Jesus name
• Powers drawing me to sin, be cut off in Jesus name
• My flesh, die to sin in Jesus name
• Blood of Jesus, clean my filthy heart in Jesus name
• Fire of God, burn my filthy rags in Jesus name.

Reasons for unanswered prayers: Secret and hidden sins

Posted on

There are many reasons for unanswered prayers, one of these is secret sin. There is a sin only known to you. Repent of it, otherwise it may cause afflictions in your life in future..The story of Rachel’s secret sin is a case in reference

Image result for secret sins

Read Genesis 31 vs 19: And Laban has gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel has stolen the images that are his father’s.

  1. There was a secret sin in the life of Rachel that was only known to her.
  2. She stole her father’s idol, and when her father searched for it, she sat on the idol and refused to get up, and said she was experiencing her menstrual cycle. (Genesis 31 vs 35)
  3. Rachel’s sin was three in One. She committed stealing by taking images that were not hers; she committed idolatry by having in her possession idols; and she committed lying by claiming she was undergoing her menses, actually she was not.
  4. What is the effect of secret sins? Rachel brought a curse upon herself. Her husband-Jacob who was totally unaware that Rachel her wife had stolen Laban’s idols, pronounced a curse of death on anyone found in possession of the idols: ‘With whosoever that findeth thy gods, let him not live’ –Genesis 31 vs 32.
  5. The curse waited for Rachel in the future, as she died prematurely, in pain, and hard labour as she gave birth to Benjamin-Genesis 35 vs 16-19.
  6. What are the secrets sins in your life that you have refused to confess to anybody? Is it adultery, stealing, masturbation, fornication, idolatry, or pornography?
  7. Rachel was a victim of her husband’s innocent curse. Of course God rubber stamp Jacob’s curse because He is a jealous God and had warned the Israelites against idolatry. If she had confessed her sin to at least her husband, maybe the story of Rachel would have been different. May God not become your enemy in Jesus name.
  8. Would you confess your sins to Jesus today, so that He can save you? And also save yourself the future repercussions of your sin?

Prayers:

  • Power of God, deliver me from my secret sins in Jesus name
  • Blood of Jesus, save me from my secret sins

Sermon: Return to God in repentance

Posted on

Mathew 26 vs 56: Then all the disciples left him….

Just as in the days of old, many believers have abandoned the gospel for the world.

1. Christians have left the Bible for Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram and other social media.

2. Christians have stopped fellowship with God in prayers, they are not fellowshipping with Television and Movies.

3. Christians especially our children have left the Bible and embraced the mobile phone with all its distractions.

4.  Christians have left the altar of prayer for the altar of gisting and gossips.

5. We have left the word of God  for the word of men, as we no longer abide by the scriptures.

6. The church has left soul winning for members winning.

7. The Church has left God worship for Pastor worship

8.  The Church has left preaching about holiness and salvation, to preaching about how members can turn to millionaires and billionaires overnight.

9. The Church has left demonstrating God’s love to building business empires.

10. The Church has left the word for the money.

The spirit of God is calling for repentance.  Pray that the Holy Spirit draws you to Him again.

Overcome fear, resist the devil, he is afraid of you

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.- James 4 vs 7

  1. You need to overcome fear of failure, fear of darkness, fear of the unknown, and fear of the devil.
  2. The truth is that the devil you fear, is the one really afraid of you as a child of God.
  3. The devil is afraid of you that is why he distracts you from reading the Bible, because he knows once you start reading the word of God, you shall know the truth that will set you free.
  4. The devil is afraid of you, thats is why he causes you to sleep off, anytime you plan to pray at night. He knows once you start praying, the power of God will destroy his works and set you free into breakthroughs.
  5. The devil is afraid of you, thats why he makes you very hungry anytime you decide to fast. He knows once you start waiting on the Lord, your deliverance shall manifest.
  6. The devil is afraid of you, that is why he distracts you from spending more time in the presence of God. He fully knows once you start work shipping God, He will intervene in your situation.overcome fear
  7. The devil is afraid of God, that is why he entices you to sin. He knows, once you live a Holy life, you shall spend your days and years in prosperity and pleasures.
  8. James 4 vs 7- Submit to God (Give your life to Christ); resist the devil (in prayer, by the word, by holiness, and service) ; He will flee from you (and this will mark your breakthroughs.

How to overcome temptations: If sinners entice thee..

Posted on

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent- Proverbs 1 vs 10

  1. The commonest form of enticement is money, getting money illegally. Money that you are not legitimately entitled. Bribery and Corruption are twin sisters in this regard.
  2. You can be enticed by a woman to fulfill a sexual lust. This may ultimately need to various forms of sexual perversion.
  3. You can be enticed by naked photographs of strange women- pornography.
  4. You can be enticed by greed, getting more than you require, more than you are entitled, more than you need, or more than is fair to you.
  5. You can be enticed by jealousy and envy to commit sins in order to live ‘big’ like  your friends and peers.
  6. You can be enticed by evil friends, unbelievers, and sinners. Watch your friends. If you move with sinners, you will likely end up being enticed.
  7. You can be enticed by an adventurous spirit.  You just want to try smoking, and try drinking strong wine to have an idea of how it feels. Sins are to be avoided, not to be experimented.

How to overcome the devil

Memorise: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” ( Lk 10:19)Read: Titus 2:11-12
As a believer, you are recreated in Christ. The victory on the cross of calvary has fully absolved you of defeat. This means, you should go through life’s battles as a conqueror not a victim. Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.Every believer in Christ is empowered over satanic forces.

However, it is still possible to remain under Satan’s manipulation due to lack of knowledge or refusal to exercise one’s authority. In Genesis 1:26-27, God created man to dominate. Adam lost this to Satan when he chose to live without God’s control. But through Jesus Christ, we are fully restored to dominate.

Today, God expects you to be a moving symbol of power and authority. When the Godhead resides in you, you become an embodiment of power. That is when signs and wonders will freely flow through you from the power base within you (Mark 16:17-18).

God expects you to exercise His power in your life over sin, Satan and his cohorts, situations, circumstances and challenges that confront you. Any bonafide believer who does this cannot be enslaved to enemies. How are you exercising your dominion today?

One way to exercise your dominion is on your knees. Daniel was faced with death yet he knelt down and prayed. On his knees, power was released to frustrate the plans of his enemies (Dan 6:10). If you can kneel before God, you will stand tall among men. You will rule the world. It is on your knees God expects you to rename problems or challenges confronting you. You cannot effect any change if all you do is dash in and out of God’s presence.

Spend quality time praying. Combine your prayers with fasting. Another secret of dominion is purity of life. If you fast and pray but live like the devil, you cannot release your controlling power over man, Satan and circumstances. Purity is a very powerful weapon. In Daniel 6:4 , his examiners found him faultless. God expects you to live soberly, righteously and godly in your life time.

Find out what God says about you, what those around you say about you and compare with what you say about yourself (2 Cor 13:5). Also regularly feed on God’s Word. Grow your faith. Are you ready to dominate from today?

Ask God for grace to dominate Satan, demons, the flesh, and the world.

Prayers to kill and crucify the flesh

Memorise: “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence” (Ps 91:3)Read: Psalm 91:1-8
The eagle takes the highest flight route hence it is very difficult to catch, unlike other birds. It takes an exceptional hunter to catch an eagle. Anyone who rides on eagles’ wings will not be an easy catch for the fowler. Psalm 91:3 says, “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence”.This year, the Lord will frustrate every evil hunter sent against you in Jesus’ Name. Under normal circumstances, a divine eaglet who is born of God, sanctified and baptized in the Holy Spirit should not require deliverance because demons and the devil are under his feet.

However, for one reason or the other either due to carelessness or on divine permission as in a trial of faith, an eagle can be caught by the snares of the hunter. The fowler is good at setting traps for anybody to fall into. In those days in the village, we could virtually catch just any animal of our desire. We would set traps in places animals may never suspect danger awaited them. Besides the trap, the skilled fowler prepares a bait ahead of the trap. At such a time, the eaglet requires the Almighty God to intervene or else it will be caught.

A trap without a bait may not perform its purpose. A bait is something which looks good, great, very attractive and almost irresistible to the potential hunter’s victim. If you want someone to steal but you do not position him where he will access money, he may never steal. A thief will only steal when there is something to steal. As long as there is nothing to steal, there will be no thief.

Quite a number of people condemning public servants who stole during their tenor are playing saints today because they never had the opportunity to steal. You would be surprised if given the same opportunity, they would do far worse. If some people are in positions of power, they would abuse that office in a far greater way. Are you a victim of satanic booby traps? The Lord will deliver you today. Check your life. What are you doing wrong?

In which area(s) have you been disobedient to God? What is that bait luring you into sin? Separate from it today! Ask the Lord to help you mortify your members. You need to die to your flesh. As long as your flesh is alive and well, it will keep luring you to evil.

Pray these Pauline prayers asking God to generate progressive Christian growth in you using Ephesians 1:16-21; 3:16-19; and Colossians 1:9-12

How to overcome lusts of the eyes and the flesh

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father” (Gal 1:4)Read: 2 Chronicles 20:1-2
In Exodus 8:1, the Lord asked Moses to tell Pharaoh ‘Let my people go’. This is a command and commands must be obeyed. This command borders on deliverance. When you talk about deliverance, there are some brethren who are non-challant to it. They will say it does not concern them because they are not in bondage. They fail to recognize that there are levels of bondages. There are some who are bound like the demoniac of Mark 5:1-15. There are those who are not bound but are imprisoned. These, unlike those that are bound are free to move about but their freedom is highly restricted by walls or gates. In 2 Kings 6:24-29, we see another type of bondage in the city of Samaria. Their hands and feet were not chained, but the enemies besieged them to the extent that some began to eat their children. Many who think they are free are actually in one prison or the other.A woman took the picture of her husband to a herbalist and he tucked it into a charm container. Whenever the container was opened, her husband would be absolutely normal and be a good husband, but the moment he began to take charge of the home as the head, the woman would immediately notify the herbalist and the lid of the container would be shut.

As soon as this was done, the man would lose his sanity. Some people are free, yet they have a ‘but’ in their lives. 2 Kings 5:1 talks of Naaman who had everything but was a leper. The ‘but’ in his life made nonsense of all his wonderful credentials. There are those who are free but the enemies have gathered together to launch an offensive against them like it happened to king Jehoshaphat (2 Chron 20:1-2).

On the other hand, some people who claim to be free are their own enemy. That means their enemy is not outside but within. Samson overcame his external enemies but almost died of thirst – an internal enemy (Judges 15:18). Some people need to be delivered from themselves – their flesh.

A brother once confessed that anytime he was about to have a breakthrough, something would push him into adultery and he would lose the breakthrough. He realized his problem lay within. Are you in such a fix? The Lord is setting you free today. Every overriding control the flesh has over you is broken today. Check yourself and locate any area in which you have remained bound and call upon the Lord in sincerity, faith and persistence. You will be free.

Victory over internal enemies is the platform you need to overcome all external enemies. Ask God for this victory today.

Causes of unanswered christian prayers

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:” ( Zech 7:13)Read: Zechariah 7:8-14
praiseThe Lord Jesus is a super Eagle who rides on the topmost height. You are seated together with Him in heavenly places ( Eph 2:5-6 ). In Deuteronomy 32:13, we read that God made the Israelites to ride on the high places. There is a route for you in the high places. Habakkuk 3:17-19 says even though things may be unpleasant and not as you expect presently, yet a route is awaiting you in the high places. You shall still walk on your high places. This year, you will ride with the Lord in your high places. There is increase (profit) in the high places. Oil and honey ooze out of the rock in the high places. As the Lord takes you to your high place of promotion, prosperity, progress and enlargement, you will receive blessings never thought possible in Jesus’ Name. You are a divine eaglet. Because the eagle takes the highest air route, it becomes difficult for it to be caught. As long as you are on the same flight with the King of Glory – always praising, worshipping and giving thanks in His presence, it becomes difficult for you to be ensnared by the hunter’s traps.

Why? You are taking a far higher route. Praise and worship are higher routes that when taken, you cannot be caught by the bullets of the enemy. Two parallel lines they say, never meet. All satanic attacks follow a particular route – attack route. Praise or worship is a higher route and therefore cannot intersect. If you are regularly hit by enemy fire, check the route you are taking. If you are travelling in disobedience, self-will, or trust in man, they are on the same low routes with attack route.

Anything on the same low route will be within the reach of enemies. Believers who are supposed to be seated in Christ Jesus in heavenly places find themselves vulnerable to the powers of darkness that are supposedly under them when they violate the code of conduct for operating in the heavenly plane – the Bible. Anytime you break the Word of God, you lose your position in the spiritual realm and begin an earth-ward descent.

At that point, the powers that were under you like the animals under Adam after the fall, will rebel against your government. Even animals want their independence. What route are you plying? Are you descending from the place of power and glory? Repent and ask God for a restoration today.

Ask for the spirit of worship to come upon today’s believers. Ask for grace to be a worshipper, not a complainer.

What does it mean to become a born again christian?

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (Jn 4:24 )Read: Matthew 13:5-6
born againBlessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3). The beatitudes present powerful foundational truths every Heaven-bound believer must not toy with. To be ‘poor’ suggests a lack or deficiency in something. The one who is impoverished in health is sick. The financially impoverished is one who needs money to make ends meet. The fellow who is poor in health will be in pursuit of healing. The one who is financially poor will most likely be found in a prosperity -preaching church because he needs money. A man who is poor in spirit will be in pursuit of spiritual things. In the above passage, our Lord Jesus Christ blessed those who are seeking spiritual things. It is what you seek you are likely to find, especially when you seek it correctly. If you seek spiritual things you will most likely find it.Why did Jesus say those seeking spiritual things are blessed? It is because God Himself is a spirit. John 4:24 says, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”. Also, Hebrews 12:9 says God is the Father of spirits. Jesus said the Kingdom of God belongs to seekers of spiritual things. This means that the Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of spirits. In John 18:36, Jesus said His Kingdom is not of this world. To enter His Kingdom, you must be born of the Spirit (Jn 3:5-6 ).

Today, the term ‘Born Again’ has almost lost its meaning. Just anything can now be born again. We now have born again gangsters, prostitutes, rebels and even politicians. An evil genius once called himself a born again democrat. Whether the term is misapplied or not, God’s Word is clear on the subject.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says to be born again, you must make Jesus Christ your dwelling place and become a brand new creature. Your old sinful life-style must go and a life-style of holiness must replace it. Without this, there is no true born again experience. John 3:5-6 says if you are still seeking the things of the flesh, you are yet in the flesh.

Those in the flesh will be preoccupied with how they dress – what they will wear and how to make dressy impressions. But those in the spirit want to please God. If you are remembered by your dressing, you have lost God’s glory. When God’s glory is upon you, nobody will notice what you wear because your face will radiate His glory. Are you born again? How are you known?

Ask God to create a hunger in you for spiritual things. Ask that you be known by the character of Christ.

Qualities and attributes of a fake ad true born again christian

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit” (Jn 3:6)Read: John 3:5-6
fakeIf you are born again, it will show in various compartments of your life. It will affect your desires, priorities, goals and association. In John 3:6, Jesus says, ” That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit”.Every human being experiences a fleshly birth. Even if it were possible to enter your mother’s womb and be reborn, it is still a fleshly biological birth. But there is a spiritual birth. It is when you take a trip to the womb of the Spirit and you are born a new creation. That is the new birth. Without this, man is lost. One thing about this spiritual birth is that it will stir up intense hunger for spiritual things.A young secondary school student was in form four when he became born again during the holidays. Thereafter, he returned to his former church but it was no longer fun. The religious activities he used to enjoy now became a drab. He began to thirst after righteousness but was not satisfied. He felt like someone being starved. He soon saw himself like a stranger in a church he attended from his childhood. At some point, he went to counsel with his spiritual parents and was asked to move to a gospel church. That was where his spiritual needs were met.

The day you are born again something dies. You claim to be born again yet you still keep girl friends, smoke, steal, cheat, or fornicate. That claim is highly questionable. You claim to be born again yet you do not pant after spiritual things – to study God’s Word, pray, fast , read Christian books, fellowship within a living church, etc.

It is either you are born again or you are not. There is nothing like partially saved. Ask some people why they claim to be born again and they will tell you, ‘I used to chain-smoke but now I take just one cigarette daily’. ‘ Or, I used to have several girl friends but now I have one’. Or, “I used to demand bribes before but now I only receive the one I am given: afterall, I did not ask for it’.

Congratulations. You are getting close to the Kingdom of God. But the day you truly realize you are a sinner, confess and forsake your sins and receive Jesus into your heart, you will be saved. That day you will begin to notice some changes taking place from within .There is no New Birth without commensurate change.

Where are the fruits of repentance in your life and character?
