Reference Text:

2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version (KJV)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

What Is Discipline?

  1. Discipline is following the rules
  2. Discipline is obeying human laws and divine commandment
  3. Discipline is strictness
  4. Discipline is forsaking pleasure to achieve a goal
  5. Discipline is living a regimented life
  6. Discipline is focusing on your goal
  7. The Opposite of Discipline Is Indiscipline
  8. Discipline involves initial sacrifice and brings reward later
  9. Indiscipline brings “initial benefits” but ends with punishment, penalties.
  10. Discipline is initially bitter but finally sweet while discipline is initially sweet, but finally bitter

Discipline and Indiscipline In The Bible

  1. God Himself is the author and master of discipline; He created the world and dedicated the seventh day for rest
  2. God created order among human beings and animals
  3. In Genesis 1 verse 28, He gave men power, dominion, and authority over all creatures, even in marriage Genesis 2 verse 28 he made man the head, and woman the helper
  4. Noah was disciplined, he obeyed God’s commandment to the letter, he brought all kinds of creatures to the ark, male and female, by so doing he saved his family and all creatures from destruction.
  5. Joseph was disciplined, he knew his boss’s wife was not to be touched despite all temptations and potential rewards
  6. Joseph- the husband of Mary was discipline, the Bible says Mary was betrothed to him, but he did not come together with her. Compared to nowadays when people engaged in immorality before marriage
  7. Jesus was a disciplinarian, for instance, He chased out traders from the temple.Bible Verse about Love - 2 Timothy 1:7

Indiscipline People In The Bible

  1. Esau was indiscipline; he sold his birthright for pottage, he could not control his hunger
  2. Jonah was indiscipline, he disobeyed God. Rather than going on evangelism, he went on tourism
  3. Judas was indiscipline, he betrayed Jesus for 30 shekels of silver
  4. Moses was indiscipline, he didn’t follow Gods word strictly, thereby missing the promise land
  5. Samson was indiscipline, he followed strange women and was destroyed in the hands of his enemies
  6. Solomon was indiscipline, he could not control his lusts for women, he married thousands of strange woman
  7. Ananias and Sapphire were indiscipline, they were sleeping with women who came to worship at the temple

Types of Indiscipline

  1. Academic indiscipline: Un seriousness, cheating in exams, gossiping instead of facing your studies. The result of academic indiscipline is failure.
  2. Professional indiscipline: Coming late to work, indolence, laziness, untidiness, sloppiness, unpunctuality, discharging assignment with no sense of perfection, insubordination, and absence from duty without approvals are all cases of indiscipline at work that leads to stagnancy, job loss, and lack of promotion.
  3. Sexual indiscipline: Premarital and extra marital sex, illicit sex, and uncontrollable lusts are symptoms of academic discipline.
  4. Spiritual indiscipline: Spiritual adultery, consultations with idols, witchcraft consultations, inability to follow a bible study, prayerlessness, and church prostitution are all forms of spiritual indiscipline.
  5. Carnal indiscipline: Unproductive time wasting on social media, long hours on television and movies, drunkenness, gluttony, and appetite for worldliness are all symptoms of carnal indiscplines

  1. Fire of God crucify me in Jesus name
  2. My flesh be nailed on the cross of Calvary in Jesus name

Bible study: Qualities of Ruth

  1. Ruth was a Moabite. The Moabites were descendants of strange relationships and did not have a good story line in the Bible. Moabites and Ammonites are Lot’s sons, born of incest with his daughters (Genesis 19:37–38). But Ruth was different from his people. Stand out from the crowd and the rewrite the negative history of your father’s house vs. 4 ‘…and they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years…’
  2. Ruth became a widow at an early age. But she did not allow herself to become depressed. She summoned courage and rose above her affliction. . vs. 5. ‘…And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband…’
  1. Ruth had good relationship with her mother in law. Verse 14, ‘…and they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her…’ She was a loving daughter in law. She was a model daughter in law. These days, she would have accused her mother in law of witchcraft of killing her husband. If she was not of good character, her mother in law would not have loved her.
  2. Ruth believed in marriage and its sanctity. She loved her husband even at death. Vs. 16, ‘And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God…’ She knows marriage is for better for good. She was not ready to walk out of her marriage for a simple or strong excuse
  3. Ruth was a believer. Her sister in law went back to her gods vs. 15, ‘…and she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law…’ but she cleaved to the God of Naomi See vs. 16. Ruth refused to be polluted by the idolatrous background of her people.
  4. Ruth had a strong mind, focused and steadfast. Vs. 18, ‘…When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her…’She refused to be convinced to part with her mother in law once she took what, she believed to be a good decision
  5. Ruth was divinely connected. Chapter 2 vs. 1, ‘… And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz…’ She met Boaz a wealthy kinsman on her return to Bethlehem, her late husband’s country.
  • You shall be divinely connected in Jesus name
  1. Ruth was diligent and hard worker. She refused to be idle or mourn her window hood but looked for work immediately she returned to her husband’s country. Ruth 2 vs. 2, ‘…And Ruth the Moabites said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
  • I cast out the spirit of idleness spirit in Jesus name
  1. Ruth was a woman of prayers. See 2 vs 2. She prayed for grace as she went to work and found grace.
  2. Ruth was a workaholic. She worked from morning till evening without idling that even her master noticed her. Ruth 2 vs 7, ‘…And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house…’
  3. 1 Ruth was attractive, a good dresser, and beautiful. Even her master noticed her and asked, whose damsel is this? Ruth 2 vs 5, ‘…Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, whose damsel is this? 6. And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab…’ If she had been wearing mourning clothes because of her situation, widowhood or poverty maybe her master would not have noticed her and favoured her.
  • Holy Spirit give me a dress sense
  1. Ruth found favour and grace in the eyes of her master and he protected her from being molested, harassed or even raped by the young men who would have noticed her beauty. Ruth 2 vs 9 to 10 and verse 15
  • I receive favour, and grace in Jesus name
  1. Ruth endured and Boaz favoured and rewarded her because of her endurance and faithfulness. Ruth 2 vs 11, ‘…. And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore…’
  2. Ruth was obedient to her boss and her mother in law. She stayed with the young maidens and refused to walkabout around town and could have been possibly polluted or suffered the fate of Dinah (Jacob’s daughter) who was raped by young men when she was visiting friends Vs 22, ‘… And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter that thou go out with his maidens that they meet thee not in any other field…’
  • Rebellious spirit in me, be cast out in Jesus name
  1. 15. Ruth was not greedy for money and followed the instructions of her mum in picking her new marriage partner. Ruth 3 vs 11, ‘… And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman…’ These days young people do not listen to elderly counsel and advise in choosing marriage partner…once they are blinded by love.
  • Razor of God, cut my long throat in Jesus name
  1. Ruth was a virtuous woman. Even her boss called her such. Vs 11.
  • I receive the virtue of Ruth in Jesus name
  1. Ruth found favour in her master’s eyes. He refused to take advantage of her even when she came to lie at his feet and requested him to cover his shirt over her at midnight till morning. Ruth 3 vs 9 and 14
  • I receive divine favour in the order of Ruth in Jesus name
  1. God eventually blessed Ruth, He blessed her womb and her offspring. She was rewarded for loyalty, faithfulness, hard work, endurance, strength, character, godliness, purity and focus. Ruth gave birth to Obed the grandfather of David and ancestor of Jesus. Ruth 4 vs 13 & 17.
  • God of Ruth turn my shame to glory in Jesus name
  1. The days of affliction of Ruth was forgotten as she rewrote her history from that of a window to a virtuous woman.
  2. May God give us daughters and servants with the character of Ruth, mother in laws heart of Naomi, and bosses with the kindness and grace of Boaz in Jesus name.

Lessons from the birth of Jesus

Read Mathew chapter 1

And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

  1. Jesus descendedfrom the adulterous relationship between David and Urias’s wife. Jesus ancestry was traced to Bathseba the woman David slept with and murdered her husband to cover up the sin. It shows we are serving a merciful God. No matter your past iniquities and sins, they are forgiven on confessions of sins and repentance

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

  1. The birth of Jesus was miraculous as she was conceived not biologically but of the Holy Ghost. Jesus was a miracle child. May the power of Holy Ghost conceive a miracle baby, contract, job, husband, and wife for you before the end of year in Jesus name

Holy Spirit that gave Mary a miracle baby, give me a miracle job in Jesus name

Holy Spirit that conceived a miracle baby for Mary, conceive a miracle husband for me in Jesus name

  1. Mary and Joseph were lovers but they refused to come together. These days, many Christians in courtships come together in sexual relationships. May God give you the grace to zip up before marriage in Jesus name

I hate sin in Jesus name

I  repent of my sins in Jesus name

Image result for birth of jesus

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife

I cut off from evil evil attached to my family name in Jesus name

I cut off from evil curses attached to my family name in Jesus name

I cut off from evil evil poverty and failure spirit attached  to my family name in Jesus name

  1. An Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph to give him direction. As many things that are causing you fear. Fear of debts, fear of school fees, fear of job loss, fear of accidents. May an angel of the Lord appear to you and direct you in Jesus name

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

  1. Jesus means Saviour, Jesus means God with us. What does your name mean? May your name not limit your destiny in Jesus name

24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

  1. Joseph obeyed divine instructions. Many Christians are rebellious and disobedient. May God give you the grace to obey divine instructions, even when it seems foolish

Holy Spirit help me to  follow you even when it seems foolish

Holy Spirit teach me to obey you even when it seems foolish

  1. The chapter discusses importance of spiritual gifts of prophesy and speaking in tongues in edifying the church.
  2. Verse 1: Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy
  3. Gift of prophesy is more important than gift of speaking in tongues.
  4. No matter your anointing or spiritual gift, if you don’t love your neighbour or practice/demonstrate love, you are empty.
  5. Practice love. Be loving first, before desiring spiritual gifts.
  6. Every Christian should desire spiritual gifts. It is not meant for Pastors alone.
  7. Verse 2: For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries
  8. When u are speaking in tongues, you are communicating with God not men.
  9. When you are praying in the spirit no man understands what you are saying.
  10. When you are praying in the spirit the enemy is confused.
  11. When you are praying in the spirit the enemy becomes deaf and dumb.
  12. When you are praying in the spirit is not your body that is praying it is the Holy spirit that is praying through you.Image result for 1 Corinthians 14
  13. Verse 3: But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
  14. When you speaking in tongues you are speaking the mind of Holy Spirit to God, but when you prophesy, you are speaking the mind of God to men.
  15. Verse 4: He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
  16. Speaking in tongues makes you a stronger Christian, prophesying helps the church rather than men.
  17. The gift of prophecy is a greater gift and edifies the church more than the gift of speaking in tongues.
  18. It is possible to interpret tongues, unfortunately most people can speak in tongues but very few people can interpret tongue. As such this gift does not edify the church.
  19. Verse 9: So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
  20. If anyone is speaking in tongues and is not interpreting or no one can interpret in the church; he is on his own as the church is not edified as no one understands what he us saying
  21. As many Christians that can speak in tongues should also pray for the gift of interpreting tongues, to understand the mysteries being uttered by the Holy spirit
  22. Verse 15: What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
  23. You can pray and sing both in tongues.
  24. Verse 18: I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all
  25. Apostle Paul was a master in speaking in tongues, and boosted no one else can match him in speaking in tongues.
  26. Verse 19: Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
  27. If you speak in tongues and cannot interpret it is better you speak in understanding that every can hear and interpret.
  28. Speaking is a sign of power and presence of God for unbelievers. Prophesying is a sign of the presence and power of God for believers.
  29. Verse 23: therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
  30. If the whole congregation is speaking in tongues in public and there is no interpretation, unbelievers may accuse them of madness
  31. Verse 25: And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth
  32. Prophesying reveals deep secrets of every man.
  33. It is better for two or three members of the church to speak in tongues and another person is interpreting than for the whole congregation to be speaking in tongues at the same time and no one to interpret.
  34. 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
  35. Manifestation of spiritual gifts must be done in orderliness.People should prophesy or announce revelation or interpret tongues one by one.
  36. Verse 32-33: And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
  37. Manifestation of spiritual gifts should not generate confusion and people should respect one another as the same spirit is in everyone with spirit gifts. And the Holy spirit can’t be speaking through two people at the same time or speaking contrary things through several people at same time
  38. 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
  39. Paul ends by saying he does not forbid .speaking in tongues in churches and no one should forbid it. But Christians should also desire the gift of prophesy.

Bible Commentary on 2 Samuel 23

Posted on

Babatope Babalobi: + 2348035897435

  1. This chapter are the words of David, a man after God’s heart and one of the greatest exemplary characters in the Bible.
  2. David was a man that lived by the Spirit, he was highly anointed and all his actions were guided by the Holy Spirit.
  3. May we learn to rely on the Holy Spirit for all our undertakings in Jesus nameImage result for 2 samuel 23
  4. Holy Spirit make me a man of the Spirit in Jesus name -vs. 1
  5. David also said the word of God was always on his tongue and this is one of the secrets of his numerous successes- vs. 2
  6. Is the word of God always on your tongue? As stated in Joshua 1 vs. 8, you cannot achieve success unless you meditate on the word day and night.
  7. The word made David successful. If you wish to achieve success, let the word, not gossips, always be on your tongue.
  8. Word of God stick to my tongue, mouth, brain, eyes and memory in Jesus name.
  9. David also stated a quality in leadership in vs. 3.
  10. According to him, those in leadership must be just and fear God.
  11. May the fear of God arrest our political leaders in Jesus name.
  12. Everyone is a leader in homes, offices, business and in every assignment we are undertaking.
  13. Holy Spirit make me a just leader today in Jesus name.
  14. Fear of God possess me, arrest me, consume me in Jesus name.
  15. Lastly we see that David constituted a team of highly skilled and mighty, courageous, bold and fearless mighty men. They were thirty in all but three of them, Eleazer son of Dodo the Ahonite, Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite and Adino the Eznite.
  16. The Exploits of the thirty mighty men including the chief three as stated in 2 Samuel 23 v 8-39
  17. What are the lessons here?
  • You cannot be great unless you do mighty acts.
  • You cannot be remembered unless you are mighty.
  • You cannot make history unless you are extraordinary. The people who followed David were more than thirty but thirty of them were recognized in the Bible.

  • Most importantly, your success and greatness is determined by the quality of your assistants.
  • If you have poor quality footballers you may not win the match. You need quality players to win a trophy.
  1. Holy Spirit gives me quality assistants, workers, helpers and church members in Jesus name.

Bible study and Commentary : 2 Timothy 1

Posted on Updated on

By Babatope Babalobi

  1. The Second Epistle of Paul to Timothy has four chapters
  2. We shall study chapter 1Image result for Bible study: 2 Timothy1
  3. This book was written by Paul to Timothy who he described in Chapter 1 vs 2 as his beloved son. The contemporary practice of having spiritual fathers and sons is therefore biblical.
  4. May God give you a Spiritual father in the order and spirit of Paul in Jesus name
  5. May God give you spiritual sons or children in the order and spirit of Timothy in Jesus name
  6. May your spiritual father not lead you astray in Jesus name
  7. Chapter 1 also hints qualities of spiritual fathers. Apart from counselling, and guiding their spiritual children, a good spiritual father always intercedes for his spiritual children.
  8. Paul said he is constantly interceding in prayers – verse 3, for his spiritual son- Timothy. These days spiritual father are more interested in what they can gain financially from their spiritual children, rather than building them up spiritually and standing in gap for them in prayers
  9. May the Holy Spirit dissociate you from every fake spiritual father in Jesus name
  10. I dissociate myself from every wrong spiritual father in Jesus name
  11. Holy Spirit lead me to a spiritual father you desire for me in Jesus name
  12. In verse 5, we see that one of the ways we can receive the Holy Spirit is by the laying of hands. Timothy received the Holy Spirit when Paul laid hands on him
  13. May God lay his invisible hands on you, receive the Holy Spirit in Jesus name
  14. Verse 7 is a memory verse..God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-control
  15. Christians should be filled with the Holy Spirit, manifest the supernatural power of God, be bold and courageous, confident of who they are in God, love their neighbours, and have self-control of worldly lusts
  16. I cast out the spirit of fear in you in Jesus name
  17. I cast out the spirit of greed in you in Jesus name
  18. Receive the faith of Joshua in Jesus name
  19. Receive the power of Samson and Paul in Jesus name
  20. In verse 8 Paul encourages Christians to be willing to suffer for the spread of the gospel. Christianity is not just about attending church services, `entertainment, dancing, but also taking the cross of Jesus and suffering its shame and glory.
  21. In verse 10, we were reminded of one of the missions of Jesus Christ, to pay for the Adamic sin, and abolish death.
  22. I shall not die prematurely in Jesus name
  23. I shall live and reign for ever with Christ in heaven in Jesus name
  24. In verse 11, Paul describes himself as an Apostle, Teacher, and Preacher.
  25. Holy Spirit train me and make me an Apostle, Teacher, and Preacher of the gospel in Jesus name
  26. In verse 16, we heard of the household of Onesiphorus who was always refreshing, supporting, identifying, and partnering with Paul’s ministry.
  27. May your household refresh men of God in Jesus name
  28. May God bless every household refreshing Save the World ministry and May God raise more Onesiphorus for Save the World ministry in Jesus name
  29. Holy Spirit give me the vision and ministry of the household of Onesiphorus in Jesus name#

Marriage partner: Knowing Gods will

Posted on

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (Jas 3:17)

Read: James 3:17-18

When God guides you regarding His choice in marriage, even if you could not recognize your partner at first sight, He will use other ways to get you to know the fellow. He can speak to you through the inner voice or witness (1 Kings 19:12). If you are too noisy or too busy to listen inwards, you may not hear this voice. He can also use the audible voice (1 Sam 3:4-7). This voice is loud enough to arrest your attention, or get you thinking somebody was around the corner talking to you. God can also use dreams and visions.

Ensure you subject whatever you hear or see to the written Word of God. If it goes contrary to the Bible, then there is no light in it (Isaiah 8:20). God cannot contradict His Word.

Another way God guides is through the peace test (Jas 3:17). If you think of taking the person in question as your wife or husband, how do you feel deep inside you? If you feel disturbed, then it’s most likely the wrong choice. But if you feel an inner peace concerning the fellow, he or she might just be the right partner.

One most reliable way God can lead you to your partner is by giving you specific scriptures, or using scriptures to answer you. While praying on the issue, a verse or two could drop in your spirit. Write them down and check them up to know what they are saying.

Each of these ways could be manipulated by Satan, hence you must judge them by the Bible and prayer. Another way God guides is by using others to confirm what He has already told you. In this way, He can use different people – known and unknown to confirm the choice. When several unrelated people are saying the same thing, God could be behind the message.

In addition, He can use children, whole families or prayer partners to confirm the fellow. Usually, these people will only be confirming what God has already told you. Similarly, never allow anybody to decide for you. God can also guide you through a word of prophecy. How sensitive are you to God’s leading? As you submit to Him today, He will lead you to your rightful partner in Jesus’ Name. If you desire God’s will, you will surely get it. Pray for it.

Ask God to liberate homosexuals and lesbians from spiritual bondage so that they can embrace His salvation.

Prayer: How to hear from God

Posted on Updated on

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “And now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in thee” (Ps 39:7)

Read: Psalm 42:3-5

Prayer cannot change God but it can change people, circumstances and turn doubt into trust, fear into faith. Prayer can also move obstacles and turn weakness into strength. As you pray this season, may these possibilities of prayer be your personal experience. Another thing prayer can do is change hopelessness to hope. When you enter God’s presence and pray, if your hope was lost, it would suddenly be replaced.

How is this possible? Each time you pray, you also have the opportunity to hear from God. Many of us see prayer as a one-way traffic, hence we hardly receive what we should in His presence. When you pray, always create time to listen for feedback. Have you ever visited your bosom friend, and you did all the talking without the fellow contributing?

As soon as some say Amen, they are off. They do not even give God the opportunity to respond. He might want to tell you that the problem is not with your wife, or staff but with you.

“And now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in thee” (Ps 39:7). God is the source of hope. Whenever you lose hope on any issue, go to Him for restoration. Prayer is the channel through which hope is restored to you. A brother was involved in a particular business.

Although he earned a living through it, he was however unhappy doing it. He could not tell many people exactly what he was doing. When he met customers and told them that he was a believer, they would ask: ‘If you are a Christian, why are you into the sale of this particular product?’ He was disturbed but remembered he got God’s approval as well as sought counsel from his pastor before entering into it some years before.

At some point, he began to seek God’s face for a change. He took his hopeless situation to God in the place of prayer and told God to bring about a change. He said, “Lord, just as it is a thing of shame to tell people what I do for a living today, give me something to do that I can be proud to tell everyone about”. He kept praying.

Today, what God gave Him to do is so special and appreciated all over the world, that he finds himself hiding it from people so that they do not hero worship him. God moved him from one extreme to another. There is a user of this Devotional who is ashamed of what he or she is doing but feels hopeless about it. Your change has come. Something honorable is replacing the former job. Remember to thank God and testify of it.

Ask God to address the root cause of your secret tears and regrets.

Is it right to be angry with God

Posted on

 By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherd of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?” (Is 45:9)

Read: 2 Kings 2:13-14

“Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherd of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?” (Is 45:9).

In 2 Kings 5:11-12, when Elisha did not meet any of Naaman’s expectations, Naaman blew his top. In his rage, he set out to return to his home country, but for the timely intervention of his servant. Anyone who is angry with God is merely wasting his time. It is very dangerous to be angry with God or His servant.

Some people are angry with God because He has not answered some of their prayers. It is only a fool who will be angry with the Almighty God. It is possible you have been tempted to be angry with God at one time or the other. Whenever this temptation comes, know that your miracle is at your door step.

The devil has seen the miracle being released from Heaven, and so he tries to prevent you by sowing seeds of doubts and anger in your heart. No matter how bad things appear, never get angry at the only One who can help you.

Naaman compared the rivers in Syria with river Jordan. Due to the operations of false prophets, several rivers where their victims are washed, have become demon transferring locations. Anyone who asks you to bathe by the river before your problem would be solved is a false prophet. They will end up turning that single problem into a hydra-headed monster. God had a reason for choosing river Jordan. This is one river that had witnessed several miraculous encounters.

In Joshua 3:14-17, this river parted for Joshua when it contacted the anointing of Moses that was transferred to Joshua. Also, it parted for Elijah (2 Kings 2:6-8) and Elisha (2 Kings 2:13-14). Much later, it was in this same river that the Lord Jesus Christ was baptized and as He came out, the Heavens opened unto Him (Matt 3:13-17).

Whenever God asks you to do something in a particular way, even when you do not understand, do it as long as you are sure it is God. His choice may not always be popular, but you can never get something better. Today, you do not need to go to river Jordan but to the fountain filled with the blood of Jesus.

In which areas have you been angry with God or holding a grudge against Him? Repent and settle with Him now. He who fight God is a loser.

How to please God

Posted on Updated on

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Heb 11:5).

Believers can be categorized according to their attitude towards God and His work into three broad groups: God-pleasers, men-pleasers and self-pleasers. Heaven issues testimonials to God-pleasers. Every God-pleaser gets a certificate but there are different grades.

Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”. You exist to please Him. The sole purpose for which God created you is to please Him. Anytime you displease Him, you negate your purpose of existence. You cannot live without pleasing God. Those who are not pleasing God daily are barely existing, not living. They cannot access the abundant life He has made available to us (Jn 10:10).

If you have been born again, it is for you to please Him. Your life should revolve around Him. Some believers try to separate business from the Christian faith. You will hear them say, ‘Business is business. Leave God out of this matter. When we get back to church, we will put on our moral garb’. The day you received Jesus into your heart, you lost the right to live for yourself or to please yourself. “For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me” (Rom 15:3).

Today’s reading clearly says believers should not focus on pleasing themselves. When the Lord Jesus Christ was here on earth, He too lost His right to please Himself. His focus was God. He set God at His right hand and daily strove to please Him. What matters is not what you think, your opinions, convenience or personal goals, but that of the One who has called, saved and commissioned you as His soldier (2 Tim 2:4). If you seek personal convenience and ambition to the detriment of the Kingdom, you cannot please God.

Self-pleasers idolize themselves. They are number one. God and anyone else can come after. If you find it difficult to pay your tithes regularly, or to obey God on matters that appear to take much from you, it is because you are serving yourself. You are your god. Repent and release everything to the King of kings today.

If you live for yourself, you will have no future beyond earth. If you live for Christ, you will end up with Him.

My tomorrow is greater than today

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament” (Heb 7:22)

Read: Haggai 2:3-9

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

“The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts” (Hag 2:9).

Whatever you are today, thank God: but the best is yet to come. As long as you remain in the Lord, your tomorrow will be better than today, because it is His nature to reserve the best for the last. At the marriage in Cana, Galilee, the Lord made this evident to everyone especially the chairman of the gathering.

The man said it is usual for people to give their best wine at the beginning and bring out the worst afterwards; but he was shocked that the best wine was brought after the worst (Jn 2:1-11). Whatever people think they have seen in you, they have seen nothing yet. Your best is yet to be revealed. Your best is coming out and there is nothing any body or demon can do about it, as long as you cooperate with the Lord Jesus Christ.

A look through scriptures confirms this nature of God. For instance, concerning covenants, the New Covenant was released as a better version of the old. Hebrews 8:6 says, “But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises”. Hebrews 8:6-7 says the first covenant was faulty hence the need for the second. God always keeps the best for the end.

One lesson here is that if God has found you to do a particular assignment for Him, do it with all your heart and make maximum profit for Him. Never give Him an opportunity to replace you because if you do, He will equip your replacement better than He equipped you, and the job will be better done than how you did it. Judas Iscariot had the opportunity of being an apostle of Jesus.

When he messed up, his replacement – Paul, achieved so much more. Although Judas was educated, Paul was far more; he even had a doctorate in law. He was mightily used of God to turn the world upside down for Jesus – a feat that none of the other apostles could achieve. Ask God not to replace you. Ask for grace to be faithful to the end. It is a dangerous thing to be dumped by the Most High. The Lord will not dump you. You will fulfil His purpose for your life in Jesus’ Name.

Father, let me never do what would make You to replace me.

Jesus as wonderful counselor

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Where no counsel is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Prov 11:14)

Read: Proverbs 19:20-21

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus the Wonderful. Another reason He is so named is because there are certain situations or events that ordinary strength, understanding or ability cannot contain. At such a time, He can bring to bear His infinite supernatural strength, wisdom and ability. In that situation which appears above your understanding or ability, the Wonderful will enter in and give you beyond your heart’s desire in Jesus’ Name.

In Daniel 6 , the whole world thought an end had come for Daniel. That night, those behind the plot were celebrating their feat in getting the king to do what he never wanted done. To them, Daniel’s relevance had ended that night. But unknown to them, Daniel communicated with the Wonderful.

By the following morning, the world awoke with open mouths to see Daniel alive. Not only that, those who plotted against Daniel became food for the lions. Anyone who is plotting your fall shall encounter the Wonderful today and end up in the belly of lions.

Another name the Lord is called in Isaiah 9:6 is Counsellor. A counsellor is the one you go to when you do not know what to do next. Counselling is very important in the life of every believer. Counselling may be required before every crucial decision is made. The quality of decisions you make will be determined by the strength of advice received.

The quality of the advice you receive is a function of the experience and training of your adviser. There are good and bad counsels. Psalm 1:1-3 forbids believers from receiving counsel from unbelievers. If you make an unbeliever your adviser, he may cause you to go astray in the name of advising you. Psalm 106:43 says whenever you take advice contrary to God’s Word, you provoke God to work against you.

For instance, when you are advised to go into premarital sex with your partner in order to test her ability to bear children and you take it, you violate God’s Word that says, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery’. As a consequence of this, you will be humbled by God’s judgement. Yet, Proverbs 20:18 says good counsels are the building blocks of any successful plan.

In fact, without it you may not succeed in that plan, project or assignment ( Prov 11:14). Do you know you require counselling to succeed in business, academics, ministry, family, career, etc.? This is why you need to know Jesus as The Counsellor. To what extent has He revealed Himself to you as the Counsellor?

Until you cut off from ungodly counsels and counsellors, you may never experience Jesus as the Counsellor.

What is spiritual covering and authority?

Memorise: “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy” (1 Cor 7:14)

Read: Genesis 8:1-2

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

When one’s day of remembrance comes, several benefits follow. In Acts 9:36-42, the good deeds of Dorcas caused her to be remembered after a particular sickness snuffed out the life in her. But when Heaven remembered her good deeds, life returned to her lifeless body. Do you know that you can sow into God’s Kingdom and members of that Kingdom and thereby prevent death or authorize your resurrection after death?

Keep sowing into the lives of fellow believers. Meet their needs. Put laughter in their mouths. Such deeds are for yourself because someday, they will speak for you. Apart from resurrection, when you are remembered, floods dry up and the beauty that was covered is revealed. This was Noah’s experience in Genesis 8:1-2. When God remembers you, the flood that swept you off your feet will dry up.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, every flood that is working against your stability will dry up now. Your glory, beauty and star that have been covered for so long shall suddenly, come to lime light from today. It is your day of remembrance.

In Genesis 19:27-29 when God remembered Abraham, He organized Lot’s deliverance from an inferno that would have roasted him alive. When God remembers you, your distant relatives will benefit from divine covering and protection. If members of your immediate or extended family are falling victims of armed robbers, fire, death and destruction, it could be because God has not remembered you. As long as God remembers you, your loved ones will surely benefit from it.

This goes to show that a believer’s cover can extend far and wide. If you live right before God and He remembers you, if your relative in the USA or Europe or any part of the world is about to become a victim of satanic destructive plans, God will intervene. A believer’s spiritual cover is something very powerful. If the wife is a believer but the husband is not, the wife’s cover will shelter her husband and children and vice versa (1 Cor 7:14).

By extension, as a pastor, your spiritual cover can affect distant relatives of members of your church. Ensure you keep away from sin so that that cover is retained. How are your relatives benefiting from divine coverage?

Father, as You remember me today, intervene in the lives of all my loved ones at home and abroad.

Knowing Gods will in marriage

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them” (Is 42:16)

Read: Isaiah 42:16-2

One question that a single believer who has agreed to let God choose his or her marriage partner would ask is, How do you recognize God’s choice in marriage? How do you know the will of God concerning marriage? If we return to the first marriage that took place in the Garden of Eden, recorded in Genesis 2:18-25, you will observe that Adam had no difficulty recognizing his wife.

It was recognition at first sight! Even now, God still deals with His children in this way. You could recognize your Heaven-sent partner the first time you sight him/her. What negates the effectiveness of this is spiritual insensitivity. If your spirit man is highly developed to be in sensitivity to the things of the Spirit, it will be very easy. Psalm 25:9 says, “The meek will he guide in judgement and the meek will he teach his way”. If you are meek and totally submitted to His will and have no idol in your heart, God will easily guide you.

When God was to give Adam his wife, He did not have to struggle with Adam. He put him to sleep and allowed him to see what He was doing through his spiritual eyes.

One reason many fail to receive God’s will is because they have set up an idol in their hearts. Any one who shows up is compared with that idol. As long as you have an idol of the ideal partner in your heart, God may find it difficult leading you. If you truly want Him to guide you, eradicate all idols -the ideal height, complexion, figure, size, tribe, educational level, social status, etc.

Trust His decision like Adam. Adam went to sleep and allowed God to make the choice. The brother or sister you are seriously hoping or praying is Heaven’s choice may actually be the one hindering you from Heaven’s choice. Even if you were totally blind, if you can completely yield to His will, He promises to lead you in ways you have not known and bring you into your desired rest (Is 42:16). God’s will in marriage is for those who can trust His judgment In making decisions, you need information.

The quality of the decision made is dependent on the quality of information used. Every man possesses limited information but God is infinite. After He looks throughout the whole world and tells you a particular brother or sister is His best for you, be rest-assured you would never find an alternative as good. Go ahead and accept His choice.

God can lead you in very clear, sure and definite ways. Humbly submit to His leading.

Blessings of waiting on God

Posted on Updated on

Memorise: “Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured” (Prov 27:18)

Read: Isaiah 40:29-31

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Is 40:31). Although prayer cannot change God, it can however change weakness to strength. The above verse says there is exchange of strength by waiting on the Lord in prayer.

This means, whenever you access God’s presence, go with all your frailties, weaknesses and failings. Go in as an empty vessel that is ready to be filled. Never enter His presence with the notion that you have it all, that you have arrived or that you do not really need Him: You may lose what you think you have and return empty! How do we wait on the Lord?

When you visit a five star hotel, a waiter or waitress waits on you to take your orders and make you comfortable. It is the duty of the waiter to wait on you. He or she is paid to do so. If you complain about what was served, it is his duty to see that it is changed. Even if you are a small boy, the waiter will put up his best and say: ‘Yes sir’ to your orders and smile because he knows you are going to pay for it.

When you wait on the Lord, you are to be the waiter and He your guest. Serve Him only what He likes and not what you like. Unfortunately, because many of us do not understand what it means to wait on Him, we turn Him into the waiter and we the guest. We would barrage Him with orders: “God, I want this, I want that.

Don’t forget what I asked for yesterday and the previous day. Ensure my provision is ready for today. Lest I forget, do not allow any evil to cross my path today – that is, be a good security guard to me. I hope you heard all I have said?” At the end of the day, the Lord will ask, “Who’s the waiter here?” When you wait on the Lord, give Him water to drink, food to eat. Give Him praise.

God is the One that should be flattered yet you cannot flatter Him because He is more than what you say He is. He is more than how best you can describe Him. However, tell Him He is good, wonderful and kind. Call Him by His names. If you can do this very well, you will get a tip. A tip from the Almighty is enough to settle you for life. Are you weak? You ought to be in God’s presence.

How you treat God is how you will be treated. If you can wait on God, men will wait on you. If you ignore God, you will be ignored by men.

How to hear from God

Memorise: “And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).

Read: 1 Kings 19:9-12

Whenever God sends a message, always remember that the message is greater and more important than the messenger or courier. According to Psalm 119:89 , God’s Word is forever settled in Heaven. What has been settled in Heaven cannot be dismantled on earth. When Elisha sent a message through his servant to Naaman who waited outside his house, the captain of the Syrian army was disappointed (2 Kings 5:9-12).

He expected that the man of God would come to him but he did not. He expected that he would lay hands on him but he did not. He also expected him to perform some acrobatic display, at least to convince everyone that he was making attempt to cure the leper, but he did not do this. He argued that even if he had to go to wash in some river, was it not better to go to the neatest which were outside Israel?

God’s solutions do not always follow conventional methods. That God solved a particular problem in a particular way does not suggest that is the only way He would solve such problems. The bottom line is when you give God a problem to solve, also give Him the freedom to choose the mode of solving it. If you expect God to solve that problem through the method you deem best, it will be a surprise if He does not disappoint you.

“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). When Elijah ran from Jezebel, he sought to meet with God in a cave on mount Horeb. God passed by and a great strong wind tore the mountains into pieces, then an earthquake and a fire: but God was not in any of them.

Today, many believers still feel that until they fall under the anointing or are slain in the Spirit, nothing has happened to them. They want to see some religious gymnastics! It is the presence of God and His Word that make the difference, not the gymnastics. Even some preachers do not know better. While praying for people, some of them deliberately push down those they are praying for whereas by merely speaking the Word, the anointing that will bring about the change is released.

Although laying on of hands is good and biblical, there are many blessings that will come to you through other media. All that is required is for you to release your faith. Faith is key to receiving all your blessings.

Some people fake the anointing, some its effects and others its testimonies. Don’t get caught up in any form of manipulation in the Name of the Lord.

How to please God

Posted on

Memorise: “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Heb 11:5)

Read: Genesis 5:21-24

When Heaven opens, you will begin to hear from above. Your spirit man will easily pick heavenly signals from that moment. The ability to hear God’s voice is so crucial to the average believer that we cannot do without it. If you can hear God’s voice, it becomes difficult for you to miss God’s guidance. One of the blessings I received when I newly became born again was the ability to hear from God.

He told me several things ahead of time, but when I made a mistake one day, He cut off the communication link. I pleaded with Him to a point of making a covenant that He should take me home today if I would backslide tomorrow. One thing you should desire and strongly seek God for this year, is the ability to hear Him.

“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matt 3:17). When God said this, it went beyond a mere statement. This conveyed divine approval. When Heaven opens to you, you enjoy divine approval. In times past, I used to strive to satisfy men.

Today I know better. The moment you make up your mind to satisfy God, you will have peace. You will no longer fear the criticism of men. And Heaven, not the sky will be your limit. Before Jesus got God’s approval and public proclamation, He totally pleased Him. In Hebrews 11:5 and Genesis 5:24, Enoch pleased God so much that God took him. From this we learn that pleasing God brings about divine translation. Enoch pleased God and he overcame the greatest dread of men – death.

He scaled over death. If only you can please God, you will scale over the greatest, toughest and biggest problems, challenges and difficulties. Pleasing God relocates you from the realm of men to that of God. Show me a believer who is endued with power from on high and reigning over the devil, demons, the flesh and the world, and I will show you a believer who goes the extra mile to please God.

One testimony you must have is that you pleased God. There is a heavenly certificate for pleasing God. Enoch and Jesus have it. You too must. To what extent have you pleased God? If you will please God, you will care about everything He cares about. You will know His dos and don’ts. You will obey Him totally. Everyone who pleases God gets a divine upliftment. One is coming your way.

If you live this earth without Heaven’s testimonial that you pleased God, you have lived for yourself. You were created solely to please Him.

Dealing with your secret sins

 Pastor Enoch Adeboye
Memorise: “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another” (Rom 14:19)

Read: Romans 14:16-19

Adam was the king of the earth. His government was blissful, peaceful, glorious and prosperous, but one day, he sinned and lost that government to Satan. Then everything turned upside down. Satan’s government turned men into slaves.

Poverty, isolation, sicknesses, curses, sorrow and death became the norm. One day, God looked down and said, “We have heard of man’s government. We have seen Satan’s government: Let us have God’s government”. To effect this, He sent Jesus Christ to earth (Matt 1:20-21). The first thing Jesus did was to save people from sin, the sin that was transferred from Satan’s government, so that a new government could be established.

The government of Jesus is one of holiness. You cannot be deriving pleasure from sin and remain a part of this Kingdom. It is also a government of restoration. In Genesis 3, immediately Satan took over from Adam, the latter lost everything good and beautiful, including the Garden of Eden. But Luke 19:10 says Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Have you lost joy, peace and righteousness while under the government of Satan? You can have all restored under the Kingdom of Jesus (Rom 14:17).

When the government changed from men to Satan, communion with God was destroyed (Gen 3:9-10). Adam ran from God because he was in sin. A sinner keeps running until he deals with sin and enters the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (Proverbs 28:1).

If you want the communion which existed between you and God to be restored, examine yourself and locate areas of disobedience against God. Repent and make necessary corrections and have a divine restoration. As long as you are sweeping sins under carpet, God may not communicate with you. As long as you retain what He forbids, God can blank out on you like He did to Abraham for about 13 years because he retained Lot. Have you experienced a broken communion with God?

Today, it can be restored. Have you stopped hearing God’s voice? As you deal with its cause today, the Lord will resume Heaven – earth communication with you. Christ’s government is a government of life (Jn 10:10). Are you facing a situation of death? Is something good in your life, family, business or ministry about to die? I speak forth life into it. I stop every intrusion of death. Receive life now in Jesus’ Name. Ask God to restore what you have lost today!

Is any sin under the carpet? Expose and deal with every secret sin.

Jesus the Wonderful Counsellor

Memorise: “Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms” (Jer 51:20)

Read: Jeremiah 51:19-24

Jesus Christ is the Wonderful. The implication of this is that He is capable of introducing changes into situations and circumstances in order to obtain a different but desired result.

As the Wonderful, the limits of men is the beginning of His abilities. Have you come to the end of the road on a particular matter? Go to the Wonderful, praise and sufficiently worship Him, and invite Him to give you a pleasant surprise package. You will suddenly discover a way in your wilderness.

“Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms” (Jer 51:20). One of the reasons Jesus Christ is called the Wonderful is so that by the time He reveals Himself to us as the Wonderful, not only would our lives be full of wonders, but that He can use us as agents of His wonders. You can become the Lord’s battle axe. You can become a divine weapon in addition to the ones listed in Ephesians 6:11-18.

A brother was seeking God’s face over a period of time. One day, he dreamt that some people (angels) came to him and began to perform an operation on him. They were trying to take off his physical hand while he resisted vehemently. He thought they were enemies but he was powerless compared with their strength.

Thereafter, they replaced his hand with an iron hand before leaving. He woke up and began to examine his right hand which did not look any different from its physical form but spiritually, it was now made of iron. He was afraid but then the Holy Spirit calmed his fears and explained to Him that a transformation had just taken place to equip him for higher assignments and battles ahead.

In Mark16:17-18, Jesus says if you know Him as the Wonderful, you too will become full of signs and wonders. There is a spiritual kitting taking place. Although you may never have seen yourself wearing shoes, breastplate, belt, helmet, taking a sword, etc., yet that is how you are dressed when you completely obey Jesus and know Him as the Wonderful.

The apostles knew the Wonderful to the point that signs and wonders freely flowed from them (Acts 5:12). To what extent do you know the Wonderful? Not knowing Him as Wonderful amounts to wasting God’s graces.

Lord Jesus, reveal yourself to me as the Wonderful to the extent of making me a wonder to my generation.

Sermon: Remember me O God!

Memorise: In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good” (Eccl 11:6)

Read: Esther 6:1-10

Mordecai heard of a plan to assassinate king Ahasuerus and he exposed it. That was how the life of the king was spared. The good deed was entered into their book of record but no reward was given. One day, after his arch enemy, Haman, had concluded plans to hang him, the king became disturbed.

He could not sleep at night until he searched through their record book and discovered that he was indebted to Mordecai. He did not rest until he paid his debt. One lesson here is that every good seed, sown on good soil has an appointed date to speak. If you do good, it will speak for you. If you do evil, it will speak against you.

But why did the king forget to reward Mordecai at the appropriate time? It is because God knew that his good seed would be needed to spare his life sometime in the future. Some seeds you sow today may not give you an immediate harvest. In fact, some harvests may be divinely connected with your deliverance, salvation or even breakthrough much later in life.

This is why you need to continue to sow. You cannot tell when each sowing effort will deliver its harvest (Eccl 11:1-6). Always ask God to cause your seed to speak for you both now and in the future. Also ask God to use your seeds to avert evil from your path.

There is a day of remembrance. Every child of God is destined for greatness. Heaven has provided for everyone in God’s Kingdom to be blessed. But every- one has his or her time. There is a day of visitation. There is a day of divine remembrance. The day you are remembered for a good deed done, is when your reward for years of unpaid labour will be released.

Unfortunately, some people do not have any good thing they can be remembered for. If Dorcas had not brought joy to the widows around her, she might not have been brought back to life. Her good deeds spoke after her death (Acts 9:36-42). Good seeds are so powerful that they can become your mouth piece or advocate when you are not there. This year, ensure you touch lives meaningfully.

Sow seeds that will speak for you today. Also sow seeds that will speak for you in future. On that crucial day of need, may Heaven remember you. Have you sown a powerful seed which has not yielded any result? Don’t take offence. Mordecai was not offended that no immediate reward came to him for rescuing the king.

It is possible your seed has gone ahead of you to deliver its harvest on a day you will need it most. Just thank God.

Ask God to cause your past and present seeds to trigger for you divine remembrance.

Choosing a life partner according to Bible

Memorise: “I will bless the LORD, who has given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons” (Psalm 16:7)

Read: Psalm 16:7-10

“O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jer 10:23). The right choice of a marriage partner is not in the one taking the decision, but in God. One very challenging choice a believer has to make is who will be his or her marriage partner.

When five brothers propose to a sister, how would she know whom to pick? What if only one brother proposes in a long time: Does that mean she should say ‘yes’ to him? This is why you should not choose by yourself, or by your senses but let God do it for you. Over the years, God has been choosing for several Christians. One thing is that when God chooses for you, you will have no regrets.

Do not expect the person chosen to be perfect. If you are not perfect, why do you want a perfect partner? It is okay to spell out conditions or qualities you desire in your partner. But God may not necessarily meet all those conditions. When God chooses for you, it is entirely in your best interest.

“For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness” (Heb 12:10). God will not give you a partner that will take you out of His presence. One way of knowing God’s choice is that after marriage, the couple draws closer to God, and walks more uprightly. But anyone who marries and afterwards backslides or grows cold on God, fellowship, or His Word, has most likely missed God’s choice.

In the same vein, when God chooses for you, it is because He wants you to end well. After all, He sees the end from the beginning. Before you say, ‘I do’ at the altar, God knows exactly how that marriage will end. When God chooses for you, He gives you a partner who truly fits you – the bone of your bone, like He did to Adam (Gen 2:23).

The truth is, not every believer can be your partner. God is the God of perfection. If you seek His face and He gives you a partner, receive the fellow with thanksgiving. Some partners prevent their spouses from fulfilling God’s plan for their lives. God will not give you a partner that will hinder you from getting to where He is taking you. When God chooses for you, He will personally be there to back you up until you succeed. Let Him choose for you today.

The state of your heart is very important to God when you ask Him to choose for you. If you are not sincere, He may remain detached.

Book of Life: I must make heaven

Memorise: “And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Ex 32:33)

Read: Revelation 20:11-15

“On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king” (Est 6:1).

The story of Mordecai is an interesting one with several lessons for us today. The first thing that comes to mind is that every organized kingdom keeps records. Just as king Ahasuerus kept records of events, so does the King of kings. Heaven has lots of books out of which are some registers for human beings. Revelation 20:11-15 tells us of two sets of books – the book of life and the books of death. Everyone that is born into this world has his or her name in one of the books.

Wherever your name falls is where all your deeds will be recorded. Everyone who is born again and is still living right until time of death can be assured that his or her name is in the book of life. The moment you are washed in the blood of Jesus and become a new creature in Christ, your name enters the Lamb’s book of life (Rev 21:27). It takes your daily living to please Him to sustain your name there. If you return to sin, God has no choice but to erase the name of that fellow from this book.

Also, what will happen to anyone and where the fellow will spend eternity will be determined by which book the fellow’s name is. Every sinner’s name is in one of the books of death, hence, they will be doomed in eternal hell.

“And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Ex 32:33). Even from the time of Moses, it was common knowledge that God had a book where all righteous souls are listed. Are you born again? If yes, congratulations!

It is not enough to have your name in the most important book in the universe. Keeping it there is the challenge. Satan is out to delist your name from that book. That colleague that is mounting pressure on you to compromise with sin, is actually Satan’s vehicle to delist you. Some powerful names have been delisted from that book.

Judas Iscariot and Demas once had their names in that book but were delisted. It is only when your name is there, that you will be entitled to your portion from God’s Kingdom. Do everything in your power to retain your name in this glorious book. Has your name been delisted? Re-enrol today!

Father, frustrate every known or unknown move of the enemy to delist my name from the Lamb’s Book of Life. Lord, fill this year’s Convention with Your presence, power, and miracles. Grant us journey mercies during the Convention.

How to turn your fears into faith

Memorise: “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mk 11:24)

Read: Mark 11:23-24

Apart from changing people and turning negative circumstances around, prayer can also change doubt to trust, fear into faith. You are either a doubter or a believer. You either operate by faith or fear. Every doubter is a potential believer. If you can pray, the worst doubter can become the strongest believer. Doubting Thomas is a case in point (Jn 20:24-29). He doubted the resurrection of Christ.

Even after the other disciples confirmed that the Lord truly visited them in his absence, he told them: ‘Except I see His nail pierced hands and sword pierced side, and put my finger through them, I will not believe!’ Later, Jesus visited them again and addressed his unbelief. From that time he resolved to show the world that he was a believer.

Years later, Thomas went to India and was used mightily in signs and wonders. He had turned into a believing Thomas! Is there someone who is doubting your ability to perform? Is someone finding it hard to trust you? You can turn it around by tarrying on your knees in prayer. If you can pay that price in your prayer closet, the same doubter will become your staunchest fan, supporter and heralder.

According to our reading today, prayer can change the place and power of obstacles in our way. God does not change but mountains do, when brought in contact with the appropriate change agent – prayer. In moving any mountain, you must be specific, or else its either all mountains will respond to your call, or none will.

Also, before you take on a mountain standing in your way, you must believe that its time is up, and that it has to move. Repeating the same prayer each day may be an evidence of lack of faith. If you believe that obstacles will move, all you need do is to package the prayer request, and deliver it backed with relevant scriptures only once. That is the prayer seed.

Thereafter, water the seed regularly with thanksgiving. Each time you water that seed with praises and thanksgiving, you make God a debtor. The more you do so, the more God is compelled to grant your request. You can be sure that the One who says ‘Owe no man’ will by no means break His Word. If you follow this principle and it is like it is not working, persist. It could be that you are going through a wilderness experience.

Ask God to turn every doubting Thomas in your family and church into great believers. Also ask that persecutors of the church become the Pauls of our generation.

Good Friday message: Jesus wept

John 11 vs. 35 – Jesus wept, Jesus is weeping.

  1. “Jesus Wept”, is the shortest verse of the Holy Bible, and it describes the feeling of Jesus when he saw two of his disciples-Martha and Mary weeping over the death of their brother-Lazarus. Several Jews were also gathered weeping and mourning over Lazarus’s death..
  2. Jesus wept and He is still weeping because Christians have abandoned the word for the world.
  3. May His blood cut you off from the world today in Jesus name
  4. Jesus wept on the road to Calvary and He is still weeping because the church He left behind is winning members rather than winning souls.
  5. May the Spirit of God turn you into a soul winner in Jesus name
  6. Jesus wept and He is still weeping because the only message He is hearing from the churches is about money, money, money and money rather than heaven, heaven, heaven and heaven

  1. May you become heaven focussed from today in Jesus name
  2. May the god of mammon not rejoice over your soul in Jesus name
  3. Jesus wept and He is still weeping because His followers who call themselves Christians are coming to Him more because of breakthroughs and miracles rather than the salvation of their souls.
  4. May the cares of this world not cause you to miss the road to heaven in Jesus name
  5. Jesus wept
  6. Jesus wept because the messages of sin, holiness, righteousness, and purity has disappeared from the pulpit, replaced by the message of grace, prosperity, and breakthroughs
  7. May your earthly breakthroughs not prevent you from breakthroughs to heaven in Jesus name

  1. In the last day, may you breakthrough to heaven in Jesus name
  2. May sin not blot your name from the book of life in Jesus name
  3. Jesus wept and He is still weeping because Christians have ignored his last commandment to preach the gospel to all the ends of the earth, whereas the last wish of even dead human beings are respected
  4. May the fire of evangelism consume you in Jesus name
  5. Jesus wept and He is still weeping because many Christians are not interested in missionary or evangelical work, instead of collecting souls for the kingdom they are interested only in collecting miracles from Him.
  6. May the fire of revival consumer you in Jesus name
  7. Jesus wept and still weeping because most Christians are not willing to make any sacrifice for the Kingdom, whether in terms of time, energy, service, or money. The harvest is full but the harvesters are few
  8. May you become a harvester of souls in Jesus name

  • For ages, believers and unbelievers have heard that Jesus is Lord, what they are now demanding is signs and wonders to prove this assertion for them to belief. The power of the Holy Ghost as manifested by the Apostles is only bestowed on serious Christians, who are willing to put on the full armour of God.

Crush the Serpent: Genesis 3 vs 15

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall Bruise His heel. Genesis 3 vs 15-19 KJV

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years” -Revelation 20:2 KJVImage result for Genesis 3 vs 15

  • What are the lessons for this scripture?
  • Lucifer is the Ancient Serpent
  • First whether you like it or not you have an enemy. God said I will put enmity.. between the serpent and the woman.
  • The serpent represents Satan, and the woman are descendants of Adam and Eve
  • Second, God gave the seed of Abraham and Eve, which is human beings the power to bruise the head of the serpent
  • Third, God also gave the Serpent the power to bruise the heel of man
  • Most of the afflictions we face as individuals or those faced by nation states are manifestations of various ‘bruises’ inflicted on the heels of individuals or nations by the Ancient Serpent.
  • Those familiar with the traits of the animal called the Serpent know that its strength lies in its head. Once the head of a Serpent is broken, it becomes powerless and dies instantly. By granting mankind the power to ‘bruise’ the head of the Serpent, God really gave us power to overcome the Serpent and stop all its evils in our daily life.
  • Unfortunately whereas the Serpent fully uses its power  to ‘bruise’ the heel of  mankind, the human race, particularly Christians seldom uses their divine power to ‘bruise’ the head of the Serpent. It has therefore been a one sided battle between man and the Serpent with the latter always having the upper hand. It is therefore not surprising that most Christians including those who profess to be born again still suffer under the yoke of various attacks of the devil- hunger, sickness, untimely death, crime, poverty, joblessness, marriage failures, business stagnancy, and the like.

Revelation 12: 7- 9 (KJV) gives more revelation on the fall of the serpent:

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angel is cast out with him”

  • Every follower of Jesus Christ is a member of a Spiritual army against the Kingdom of Satan. Before a believer could inherit his divine blessings, he must successfully overcome the dragon and his angels here on earth, even as Michael and his angels did in Heaven. Whether you like to believe it or not, the Serpent hates you simply because you are a follower of the Way, the Truth and the Life.

And the Serpent is determined to frustrate and thwart the plan and purpose of God for all His children.

The Serpent is the Believers’ one and only archenemy, and toils day and night in opposition to God and his Children. Satan is stubbornly and unrepentantly opposed to the children of God, and manifests this hatred through various acts of wickedness

Your conversion to Christianity did not automatically immune you from Satanic attacks; it only redeemed you from your sins, and saved your soul from eternal damnation. You have to wage a spiritual war against the dragon and his angels here on earth, and overcome just like Michael and his angels did in Heaven, before you can manifest your divine destiny.

How to overcome the serpent

  • Be born again
  • Compile Deliverance scriptures and memorise them
  • Fast and pray especially at midnight
  • Speak in tongues extensively
  • Engage in spiritual warfare
  • Sing Praises to God

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”- Matt 28:18-19

James 4:7 reads: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.

Isaiah 27 vs.1: In that day, the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

Luke 10 vs 19 – Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

  • I challenge by fire every human agent in my household bowing down to Satan.
  • You dragon spirit bruising my leg, I break your head in Jesus name
  • I rescue my glory from the spirit of dragon, in the name of Jesus.
  • I cut off the heads of the Leviathan attacking my glory

  • Every serpentine spirits delegated against my life, release me now and die in the name of Jesus
  • Every Serpent pursuing my glory, be swallowed up by the Serpent of the Lord
  • Let the terror of the Lord fall upon the army of serpents attacking me in Jesus name I pray
  • O Rock of ages, fall upon the Ancient serpent attacking my destiny.
  • Every poison of the dragon in my life, be neutralized by the blood of Jesus
  • Every wound inflicted against me by the dragon, be healed by the blood of Jesus
  • Serpentine spirits crawling in my body, come out and roast to death in Jesus name
  • Serpentine spirits afflicting me, I behead you in Jesus name

  • Every dragon spirit tied around my body, soul, and spirit, released me now and die in Jesus name
  • Dragon spirits attacking me through my dreams, be consumed by the fire of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus
  • Every power standing as a Goliath in my Life, I bury you today in Jesus name
  • Rod of oppressor over my life, break in Jesus name
  • Evil implantation in my life, die from the roots in Jesus name
  • Every strongman seating upon my blessings, be unseated by fire in Jesus name.
