Essence of Christianity: What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Posted on

soul winning evangelism

Mark 1 vs 17: “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

  1. The essence of Christianity is to primarily do the work of the Evangelist, every other thing becomes secondary.
  2. If you make yourself a follower of Christ, you should therefore be willing to trained by the Holy Spirit to bring others into following Christ.
  3. Following Jesus, without fishing for men is not an option, an act of disobedience, and may infact be a sin.
  4. Decide today not only to follow Jesus, but also to fish for men and women

I receive the grace to fish for the kingdom in Jesus name

Breakthrough prayers: O God of Israel, settle me now!

Posted on Updated on

1 Peter 5:10King James Version (KJV)

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

                                                  By Babatope Babalobi

1. There’s a reader of this message who wants God to settle him.

2. You may wish to be settled with a good husband or wife, the fruit of the womb, a good job, a befitting accommodation,  a house of your home,  visa for international travel, marital peace, good health, or deliverance from sin.

3. Perharps you have been crying for years, praying earnestly to God to seetle you.

4. The good news is that God does settle His children.

5. However, there’s a price to be paid,  a path to tread, a principle to be followed, and an exam to be passed before God can settle you

6. Let’s examine 1 Peter 5 vs 10 critically….You will discover that there are four things that must happen before God settles you. First, you must suffer. Second, you must be perfected. Third, you must be established. Fourth,  you must be strengthened.

7. You must suffer. Do you want God to settle you?  Then you must ready to suffer for a while. You must suffer in prayer and fasting. You must suffer in memorising the word of God. You must suffer in denying yourself the pleasures of sin. You must suffer in living a life of holiness. You must suffer in avoiding ill gotten treasures. You must suffer in being denied, ridiculed,  and mocked by the world. You must suffer in carrying the cross of Christ. Unfortunately,  most people want to be divinely blessed without going through the School of suffering, which accounts for there inability to advance forward in their christian life .

My prayer for you today is that you shall emerge victoruious in the School of divine suffering in Jesus name

8. You must be perfected.  Do you want God to settle you ? Then you must be ready to be perfected. You must be perfected to drop your old man. You must be perfected to produce the fruits of the spirit. You must be perfected to kill your flesh and die to self. You must be perfected to think of the word rather than the world. You must be perfected to start investing in heaven, rather than on worldly things.  You must be perfected  to cut off your old habits…anger, impatient, gossip,  lying, lust, envy, etc You must be perfected to become a saint. Unfortunately,  most Christians want to receive miracles and breakthroughs without going through the School of perfection. No wonder, they are yet to be settled by God.

I pray for you again that you shall become a lamb without blemish in Jesus name.

9. You must be established. Do you want God to settle you? Then you must be established as a Christian. Are you merely a church goer or a servant of God? Are you merely a follower of Jesus or a disciple of Jesus? What are you doing for God? Are you  merely a recruit soldier in the Army of Christ or a Combatant soldier? How many souls have you won for Christ this year? What are you doing for God that brings joy to the kingdom? Beloved, you must be established as a dependable, fruitful,  reliable servant of Christ before God can focus on you for divine settlement. Yet again unfortunately, most Christians are not willing to pass through the School of establishment; they remain feeding bottle, ice cream christians all there life not doing anything for the kingdom of God. Alas, God also refuses to settle them as they have no value to the kingdom.

I pray for you again,  that you shall be valuable in the sight of God in Jesus name.

10. You must be strengthened. Do you want God to seetle you? Then you must be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to receive divine settlement. The Bible says in that day the burden shall be lifted up and the yoke shall be broken because of the annoiting. It is the annoiting of God that strengthens you spiritually making you a candidate of divine settlement. How long do you pray in the Spirit daily? Five minutes, ten, thirty, one hour? How long can you do personal worship. Beloved, unless the power of God falls on you and strengthens you to break the evil bondages and cages, your divine settlement may not materialise. Unfortunately, most Christians are too lackadaisical,  too gentle for the devil , and too cold to face their adversary who is a roaring lion. You must pass through the School of spiritual strength before you can receive divine settlement.

I pray once again for you that the fire of God shall fall on you today in Jesus name

David recovered all: How to overcome life challenges and crisis situations

Posted on

By Babatope Babalobi

Read 1 Samuel 30, This is the story of how Amalekites took the wives, children, and properties of David captive, and ran away with them; but David was able to recover all after God encouraged him to pursue them. There are several lessons from this epic story

  1. they slew not any’– verse 2. God still intervenes when the enemy attacks you. God did not allow the Amalekites to kill the wives and children of David. They merely took them captive. If the Amalekites have killed all the inhabitants of Ziklag when they attacked the city, David would have come and find all members of his household dead. David was able to rescue his household taken captive, because they were still alive, as God restrained the Amalekites from killing them.
  2. They David and the people that were with him wept……until they had no more power to weep’– verse 4. If you are in crisis situation, weeping or crying does not solve your problems, it can only increase your blood pressure making you depressed and hypertensive. David and his people almost wept themselves to death, but this did not bring back the people taken captives. Weeping glories Satan, not God
  3. David was distressed, grieved, and was about to be stoned to death’– verse 6. Are you presently grieved, depressed, and on the verge of committing suicide? David was in a similar situation, but he was able to overcome this. If you follow the steps of David, you shall surely overcome your present grief, depression, and anxieties in Jesus name.
  4. But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God’- verse 6. In whom are you encouraging yourself, when you are in crisis- false prophets, your riches, friends, wisdom, or power? David looked up to the God of heavens when he was in crisis. The first step you need to take to overcome your crisis, is to hand over the burden to the burden bearer and crisis solver.
  5. But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God’- verse 6. David could encouraged himself in the Lord because he had a relationship with God. He was a child of God, and ran to his father for help in trouble. If you are not a child of God, your father would not listen to you in trouble. Another step you need to take to overcome your afflictions and crisis situations is to become a born again Christian. When you surrender your life to God, it includes your burdens, yokes, challenges, crisis, and difficulties.
  6. And David enquired of the Lord’- verse 8. Another secret of overcoming crises is seeking the face of God. The Holy Spirit is the revealer of secrets and knows both the causes of your problems as well as the solutions. You need to enquire from the Lord the way out of your problems. David was able to overcome because, God told him the way out.
  7. And David enquired of the Lord’- verse 8. It goes without saying that before you can enquire of the Lord, you should have a relationship with God.  God would not respond to your prayers, unless  you are not walking in righteousness. God keeps silent when several people call to him in troubles, because their hands are full of sin and iniquities. The days of trouble shall surely come, from time to time, but you need to walk with God always to be able to overcome these evil days through divine guidance.
  8. ‘Pursue, for thou shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all’ verse 8. Another lesson form this story is that you must be willing to PURSUE if you wish to overcome your problems. Many of us are docile, lazy, fatalistic, and fearful. David pursued his enemies, fought them, overcame them, and recovered all. If he did not pursue, he would not have overtaken. If he did not overtake, he would not have recovered. Depending on your circumstances, the act of pursuing may be different from what David did. But you need to take steps to move forward. You need to challenge powers that are oppressing you. You need to fight to recover your lost fortunes. Restoration may not fall on your laps unless you engage in a divine fight.
  9. ‘Pursue, for thou shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all’- verse 8. God words are true. God is faithful. God does not lie, He does not fail, and He is sure. Just as God promised, God recovered all as stated later in verse 18 and 19 of this passage. If God has promised you, hold on to His promises in faith, they shall surely come to pass in Jesus name.david recovered all
  10. ‘But David pursued’ – verse 10. God told David to pursue. David obeyed and pursued. Therefore obedience to divine instruction, when it looks irrational is also another principle of divine restoration. What has the Holy Spirit told you to do that you have refused to do out of fear or procrastination? You miracle is in obedience.
  11. ‘And they found an Egyptian in the field, and they brought him to David’- verse 11. God has positioned someone to guide you out of your problems, as you take steps, your divine helpers will manifest in Jesus name. David never knew the way the Amalekites went. He never knew their route. He simply pursued out of blind obedience. Then help came from heaven. He met an abandoned slave from the camp of the enemy who showed him the way. Help is on your way as you take steps to come out of your crises. God shall show you the way, when there seems to be no way.
  12. ‘And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs’ – verse 12. Be nice to strangers, as your deliverance may be wrought through them. David’s camp never knew who the Egyptian abandoned in the field was, and yet they treated him nicely. Several other people might have passed by him, thinking he is an unnecessary distraction and nuisance. Alas, he held the key to the way forward in David pursuit of his enemies. Your love for your neighbors and strangers may determine your deliverance.
  13. ‘I am a young man of Egypt, servant of an Amalekite, and my master left me because there days agone I fell sick– verse 13. That was the mistake of the enemies of David, which turned to be their nemesis. As the abandoned stranger led David to the camp of his enemies. Your enemies will always make a mistake that will lead to their downfall. Stop weeping. Pray to God to open your eyes to see the mistakes of your enemies.
  14. ‘And David recovered all’ –verse 18. David recovered all the enemies stole from him. You can recover all if you follow the principles of David. You can recover your marital joy, your job, finances, health, and most importantly your salvation in Jesus name.

Deliverance prayers against evil dedication

Posted on Updated on

I Samuel 1 vs 24-28

24 And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh: and the child was young.

25 And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord.

27 For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

28 Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to theLord. And he worshipped the Lord there.

dedication

In this passage, Hannah dedicated Samuel to God.

Why do we need to dedicate our lives and properties to God?

  1. Dedication means we have recognized God as the creator.
  2. Dedication means we have recognized God as the person that gives the power to make wealth. Recognizing Him as our source of wealth and riches.
  3. Dedication means recognizing that we are just caretakers of any earthly possessions, that God is the real owner.
  4. Dedication shows we accept that we dont have the power to protect ourselves, it is a symbolic act of bringing our selves and possessions under divine protection.
  5. Dedication is an act of faith, giving back to God what he has given us, knowing fully well that we cant out give God, and He shall always supply our needs.
  6. Dedication is recognizing God as the Lord and Master.
  7. Dedication is thanking God for what he has provided.
  8. Dedication is separating ourselves for  the service to God.
  9. Dedication means enlisting ourselves and possession in the army and armoury of God.
  10. Dedication is another way of saying I AM FOR JESUS, SATAN KEEP OFF!

What do we need to dedicate?

  1. We need to dedicate every new thing living or non living to God.
  2. We need to dedicate ourselves, families, and children to God.
  3. We need to dedicate our time to God.
  4. We need to dedicate our business to God.
  5. We need to dedicate our talent, wisdom, and skills to God.
  6. We need to dedicate our material possessions- cars, houses, etc to God.
  7. We need to dedicate our lives to God.

What is evil dedication?

  1. If you have ever make a covenant with any power outside Christ, they you have made any evil dedication.
  2. If you are carrying any material or items given to you by any dark power (any power outside the body of Christ), then you have been involved in evil dedication.
  3. Have you ever consulted a witch, occult, herbalist, face Prophet, sorcerer, magician, etc then you have been consciously or unconsciously involved in evil dedication.
  4. Does you name, first or surname glory an idol or god? Then you are still dedicated to Satan.
  5. Are you in possession of any object that has been previously dedicated to Satan? Then, you need to get rid of the object fast.
  6. Have you ever made a vow to worship Satan? Then you have made an evil dedication
  7. Did you ancestors ever worshiped idols? Do you come from a family of idol worshipers? Most likely, your ancestors had dedicated all his descendants to idols

Consequences of evil dedication

  1. Evil dedication provokes the anger of God.
  2. Evil dedication provokes the jealousy of God.
  3. Evil dedication hinders prayers.
  4. Evil dedication limits divine intervention and progress.
  5. Evil dedication is the visa to hell.
  6. Evil dedication attracts demonic oppression.
  7. Evil dedication reinforces satanic bondage.
  8. Evil dedication legitimatizes the authority of the enemy.
  9. Evil dedication delays miracles.
  10. Evil dedication is a waster of glory and killer of destiny.

How to receive deliverance from evil dedications

  1. Become genuinely born again, a word addict, a prayer warrior, and a champion in fasting.
  2. Receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and speak in tongues for long hours.
  3. Undertake a research to understand the history of your family, village, ethnic group, and office premises..
  4. Ask deep questions about ancestral activities and dedications in your extended family.
  5. Conduct a spiritual survey of your household and office.
  6. Draw a battle line with the evil powers in your fathers house, and announce loud and clear that you are for Jesus.
  7. Engage in spiritual warfare especially at midnight.
  8. Renounce the devil and cancel every way you have been associated with him.
  9. Destroy every satanic item in your possession.
  10. Change your family name if it presently glorifies Satan.
  11. Rededicate every of your possession to Jesus. Mark them with the blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Ghost.
  12. Rededicate every member of your household to Jesus.
  13. Pray deep and revealing prayers.
  14. Walk with God.

Prayer: My star, receive the mark of Jesus.=

Bible sermon: Obedience to Authority, Obedience in workplace

Posted on

  1. One cause of disobedience in work place is that people have a wrong notion, a misunderstanding of whom they are serving.
  2. The Bible says clearly that wherever you are working, whatever you are doing, you are not serving man but Christ.
  3. Colosians 3 vs 23 says..whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.
  4. God is the owner of that office, the owner of that company, the owner of that business….you will be making a mistake by thinking your boss or government is the owner.
  5. God is going to rate you by your diligence, hard work, sincerity, and honestly at your workplace; and reward you accordingly because ‘ye serve the Lord Christ’ (Vs 24) anywhere you work.
  6. Decide to work in a way pleasing to God whenever you work from today.

Colossians 3 vs 22-24 KJV

22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;oobedience

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Psalm 6 King James Version (KJV)

O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?

Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

What is morning devotion? What are its benefits?

Psalm 5 vs 3: In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly.

  1. Morning devotions is a way of saying ‘Good morning’ to God your father and creator.
  2. God wants to hear your voice, He wants you to fellowship with Him.Doing so early in the morning shows how much you love Him.
  3. Morning is the beginning of the day, its good to commit the day to God, He who knows all things, where you should go and who you should see.
  4. Fellowship with God in the morning is another way of saying, ‘Jesus, you are my Lord’, without you I cant achieve anything today!
  5. The Day is full of evils, morning devotions empowers you to overcome the evils of the day.
  6. It is better to commit your plans for the day to God before you implement them, than to invite God to solve your challenges after your plans run into troubled waters because you did not seek divine direction.
  7. Just like a child presents his requests for the day before his father in the morning, God also wants you to present your requests for the day before him early in the morning

Sunday sermon: How to worship God in spirit and in truth

Posted on

          By  Revd. (Dr) Mike Obiora

Reference texts: John 16 vs 32-33; 1 John 5 vs 4; John 3 vs 4-6

What is truth?
1. God told Abraham there are two nations in the womb of Sarah. Abraham heard this and became to prepare for his future. If you know the spirit of truth, if you know the truth about your future, it helps you to prepare for the future.

2. There is a difference between the fact and the truth. A fact is the present state of a thing, the truth is the real state of a thing. Truth makes you think beyond the fact, beyond the immediate, beyond the present state of things.

3. The fact is that you are barren, the truth is that there are twins, triplets, two nation in your loins.

4. The fact is that you are sick, the truth is that by His stripes you are healed. mike2

5. The fact now is that at the minimum, the truth is that you are destined for the maximum.

6. The fact now maybe you are failing, the truth is that you are the head and not the tail; you are above and not below; you are the first and not the last.

7. The things that are seen are temporal, and can change; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

8. Truth is a universal phenomenon, it can work anywhere and produce the same results.

9. Truth causes you to know how to treat people well. Angels were bowing down to Baby Jesus, because they knew is the Kings of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. A strong church is not a church of God, but a church that has revelational knowledge of Christ.

10. The spirit of truth will cause you to avoid sin and live in holiness. If you know you are going to meet Jesus one day, then you will live a holy life.

11. You need to be born of the spirit to receive the things of the spirit, and also things of the truth. The Holy Ghost and the Word of God gave birth to Jesus, you were given birth by that same power of the Holy Ghost and Word of God.

12. The purpose of God’s word is to fill you with the spirit of truth. You are meant to be a custodian of truth. I encourage you to stick to the truth than the fact.

Confessions
1. I have the capacity to overcome anything that the devil throws against me.

2. The spirit of God will guide me to all truths in Jesus name.

3. I am not destined to trek forever. I am not destined to be barren forever. I am not destined to be jobless forever in Jesus name.

4. I know the truth of God’s word and sickness shall not be able to rest upon me.

5. God shall give me the capacity to receive God’s promises.

6. I shall be a custodian of truth in Jesus name.

7. Holy Spirit shall help me to prepare for the future.

8. God will confirm the truth of His words in my life with signs and miracles.
Prayers
1. Angels of God will celebrate my destiny in Jesus name.
2. My miracles – husbands, babies, jobs, shall connect to me in Jesus name.
3. There shall be no end to signs and wonders in my life Jesus name.

1. Dont allow anything to keep your from the Word of God.

2. Dont allow anything to keep you from the altar of prayer.kosmi

3. Always be joyous in Christ. Have a personal joy pattern. Sometimes just rejoice without musical instruments. Dont depend on musical instruments before you rejoice.Always dance for joy with or without musical instruments.

4. Always pray in the Holy Ghost. When you are filled to the spirit it is easy to submit, but when you are full of the flesh, you wouldn’t be submissive.

5. Avoid lusts and rebellion- Lust is love for which is forbidden. Rebellion is resistant to lawful authority and refusal to accept authority. Prayers and the Word of God are two things that will keep you from the state of lusts and state of rebellion. Lust is watching English Premiership League, when you are supposed to be in Church. The Bible warns you to flee from youthful lusts!

6. Always declare God’s goodness and Wonderful works

7. Set your affections on things above.

I am not unlawful, I am not rebellious, I stay under authority in Jesus name.

Psalm 1

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

  1. A tree planted by streams of water could never go hungry, could never be thirsty, would grow to become a big tree while other trees are dying of drought, would be a blessing for birds that perch on it,  could never be cut off by saw millers because they ground would be muddy and inaccessible, would always look fresh, robust, and well fed, it would provide shade to human beings and animals, and it would be strong as its roots will go deep into the soil.tree
  2. Anyone who forsake sin and walk by the word of God would never be thirsty or go hungry even in economic recession, while others are managing debts the person would manage credits, its business shall grow bigger and bigger and provide succor for many mouths, the person would not be afraid of sudden or premature death as no around of the enemy would be able to affect him, and he shall live in good health, peace, and joy.

  1. Bad dreams are from the devil not from Goddreams
  2. Demons are responsible for bad dreams, when they visit people at night on evil assignments.
  3. You can stop bad dreams by living in complete holiness, avoiding evil communication, filling up yourself in the holy Ghost, memorising and meditating on the word of God, sleeping less at night, waking up at mid night to pray, and fasting more regularly.
  4. Demons are able to visit you because you are spiritually cold, you can reverse this trend by becoming spiritual hot.

Prayers for New month: Sword of God fall on my oppressors

Posted on

Genesis 27 vs 39- 40

39 His father Isaac answered him,“Your dwelling will be away from the earth’s richness, away from the dew of heaven above. You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck.”

  1. Esau asked for a blessing, but he ended up receiving what looks looks like a curse from his father.
  2. His father pronounced that he would  him to dwell away from the earth riches, away from the dew of the heaven, and …the most depressing…that Esau would serve his younger brother- Jacobsword of God
  3. However, within these ‘curses’ there is a hidden blessing. If only Esau could grow restless, he could break the dominion of Jacob and receive his liberty.
  4. The Holy Spirit is asking someone under oppression to become restless today in order to receive deliverance in Jesus name
  • I refused to be comfortable with my problems in Jesus name
  • I refuse to negotiate with the enemies of my life
  • I break every evil dominion over my life in Jesus name
  • Yokes of oppression, break in my life in Jesus name
  • Sword of God fall on my oppressors in Jesus name

What is the biblical basis for the doctrine of purgatory?

Posted on

Is there life after life or is their life after death? Can sins be forgiven after death? Is there an opportunity for repentance after death? What is the biblical basis of the doctrine of purgatory widely believed by the Catholic Church?

Babatope Babalobi  babalobi@yahoo.com    +2348035897435

Is doctrine of purgatory biblical?

Hebrew 9 vs. 27: 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

  1. No one dies twice or resurrects after dying.purgatory
  2. God’s order is that every man dies once
  3. Death is a state of physical unconsciousness and no bodily activity happens after death
  4. The next activity after death is judgment
  5. There is no activity between death and judgment.

Why should we fear God?

Posted on

Several scriptures in the Bible extol Christians to fear God not the gods. Why should we fear God? How should we fear God? And why does Christians need to fear a loving God?

Fearing God; what does it entail? Simply it means obedience to God’s statutes, Laws and commandments.

Eccl 12:13-14: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Just like a father is pleased with a child that obeys and follows his instructions, Jehovah loves His sons who are willing to do His will and bidding.

The Bible says in Isaiah 1 vs. 19: If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land” (NIV). Just like the way a football team Coach scolds his players for not playing to instructions during a lost game, God punishes those that flouts and ignores His instructions.

Isaiah 1vs. 20 (NIV) – ‘but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it”         fear of God

It is recorded in Dake’s Bible that King Saul made 21 unsuccessful attempts to assassinate David. Yet, when David had the opportunity of killing Saul his archenemy, he restrained himself out of the fear of God. Compare David’s attitude to that of a former Military ruler in Nigeria in the 80’s, who ordered the execution of his close friend for allegedly plotting a military coup. If the Military ruler had the heart of David, maybe the alleged coup plotter, a literary genius would not have been wasted.

What are the benefits of fearing God?

First, a God fearing person will be able to lead a righteous life free from sin. Second, the person will gain knowledge; possess divine wisdom, and good understanding, to cope with the crises of life.

“The fear of LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”    -Proverbs 1 vs. 7   ¨

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of the wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.      Psalm111 vs. 10

Third, the person will possess the spirit of God helping him/her in all things. “The spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of the knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of his eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;”      -Isaiah11 vs. 2-3 ¨

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one another” –John13 vs. 35

Bible on walking with God: How do I walk with God?

There are very few people recorded as having Walked with God in the Bible.  How do we walk with God, and how did Enoch walked with God? Genesis 5 vs. 22 – And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters Genesis 6 vs.9 …

  1. Pharoahs of breakthrough- Exodus 5vs 2: “Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go.”
  2. Diviners such as Balaam – Numbers 22 vs. 5-7 :sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the Euphrates River, in his native land. Balak said:“A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. ; Deut 23 vs 5: However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.
  3. Evil champions such as Goliath defying the armies of your Israel: 1 Samuel 17 vs. 10: Then the Philistine said, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.”
  4. Sanballat and Tobiah sad about your progress- Nehemiah 2 vs 10: 10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.

And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
  6. Accusers and conspirators- Daniel 6 vs 24: 24 At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.
  7. Prince of Peersia- Daniel 10 vs 13: . – But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days;
  8. Emptiers and wasters- Nahum 2 vs 2:  For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
  9. Mistress of witchcrafts- Nahum 3 vs 4: Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
  10. Herods seeking to destroy life- Mathew 2 vs 13: And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Tips for Church growth: the early church

Posted on Updated on

Acts 2 vs. 42 – 47 – 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

1.     The early Christians were happy and excited to receive the word of God, but the present generation of Christians do not want to be rebuked with the word of God.

2.     The early Christians were avid readers of the Bible, but contemporary Christians use the Bible to decorate their offices and cars instead of reading its contents.

3.     The first generation of Christians were always in the presence of God to fellowship, by the present generation of Christians are too busy to seek God.

4.     The early church was a communal church, but there is no love among members of the present church.

5.     The early Christians have things in common, but everyone is on its own in the present generation, while every man of God also wishes to have his own empire where he is the Lord of the manor.

6.     The early Christians never lacked because they supplied each others needs, but there is poverty in the present church because of selfishness of the members and greed of the Pastors/Church.

7.     The early church was a prayerful church, but the present generation of Christians see prayer as an unnecessary burden.

8.     The early Christians were God fearing, but the present generation of Christians fear job loss more than the God of heaven.

9.     Miracles were a common occurrence in the early church, but the present church fake and manufacture miracles, and advertise it to attract new members. Read the rest of this entry »

Sermon: Relationship between Saint Peter the Apostles and Jesus Christ

Posted on Updated on

Apostles+Peter+and+Paul-1024x768-10605

1.     He was personally called by Jesus Christ into the ministry, to become fishers of men. –  Mathew 4 vs. 18-1918 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.  19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

2.     He initially obeyed Jesus immediately and followed him. – Mathew 4 vs. 20And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

3.     He is regarded as the first of the Apostles of Jesus – Mathew 10 vs. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

4.     Jesus anointed him and the other disciples giving them power over unclean spirits, and to do miracles- Mathew 10 vs. 1And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

5.     Jesus appointed him and other disciples as Evangelists and commissioned them as soul winners- Mathew 10 vs. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

6.      He tried to perform the miracle of walking on the Sea like Jesus, but his faith failed him. – Mathew 14 vs. 29- 31 – 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

7.     Jesus blessed him. – Mathew 16 vs. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

8.      Jesus changed his name from Simon Barjona to Simon Peter. Peter means rock. – Mathew 16 vs. 17- 1817 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

9.      Jesus prophesized that Peter will be the leader of the new Church of Christ-  Mathew 16 vs. 18 – 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

10.  Jesus further anointed Peter, giving him powers to bind and lose anything on earth and in heaven. – Mathew 16 vs. 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

11.  He was one of the closest disciples to Jesus, he was one of the three that witnessed the transfiguration of Jesus on a high mountain- Mathew 17 vs. 1And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

12.  Jesus prophesized that Peter will deny him. – Mathew 26 vs. 34Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

13.  He vowed never to deny Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 35 –  Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples, even at the risk or point of death.

14.  He was sleeping when he should be watching and praying. – Mathew 26 vs. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

15.  He could not intercede for Jesus for one hour. – Mathew 26 vs. 40And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

16.  He could not stand up and pray at night. –Mathew 26 vs. 43And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

17.  He was resting when he and other disciples should stand up and pray. – Mathew 26 vs. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

18.  Jesus became disappointed by his prayerlessness and that of the other disciples; mocking them to sleep on. – Mathew 26 vs. 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

19.  He denied being disciple of Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 70  But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest

20.  He denied on oath ever knowing Jesus. – Mathew 26 vs. 72And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

21.  He denied ever following Jesus, and placed a curse on himself if it was so. – Mathew 26 vs. 74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

Sermon: Meaning of my kingdom is not of this world

Posted on Updated on

John 18 vs 36 – Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Jesus meant:

  1. He did not get his authority and power from the earth, but from Heaven
  2. He was not a King or President of the earth, who were elected into office by votes or inheritance.
  3. His security is not provided by human guards by Hosts of Heaven.
  4. His tenure cannot end like earthly Political leaders, neither can he be removed from office like Kings or monarchs.
  5. His territory is all creation, both the heavens and the earth, rather than earthy Kings that have a limited territory.
  6. He does not fight his enemies with physical weapons like earthly kings. His instruments of warfare are spiritual.

Marriage principles- Wives submit to your husband

Posted on Updated on

By

Pastor E.A Adeboye

“Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake” (Rom. 13:5)

READ: Romans 13:1-5

Wives are commanded to submit to their husbands in all things (Eph 5:22-24).

Some wives find if difficult to submit to their husbands just because they are taller, richer, better placed, or more educated. Even if you were the president of a nation, God still expects that wife to submit to her husband in all things.

Submission is an act of faith. That means if you can submit to your husband in spite of contrary opinions and situations, it will be counted to you as righteousness. Similarly, the woman is expected to submit to her husband as if she was submitting to Christ (Eph. 5:22).

This means that it is not the man that the really submitting to, but the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. It also means the extent to which a wife can submit to her husband s the extent to which she can submit to Jesus Christ. A woman who cannot submit to her husband will not also submit to Jesus. MEMORIZE : Take therefore no thought for the morrow :

For the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the evil day thereof” (Matt 6: 34)

Read: Matthew 6 : 31 -34

One day, the Lord asked me, of all fundamental issues in your life, how many of them did you choose by yourself?” I told Him, ‘Lord, I don’t understand. I think I have done a lot of choosing.’ Then He asked, ‘who chose your dad, mum, place of birth, height, complexion, etc.?

Suddenly, you feel you have become grown up and want to choose all by yourself.’ Then I realized I was charting the course of independence from the Most High God! The one who had laid the foundation of your life and has taken you this far, says He wants to complete what He started but you, ‘I know you are God but step aside and let me handle my affairs myself’.
