Memorise: “A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies” (Prov 14:5)

Read: Revelation 1:4-6

“And from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, and the first-begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood” (Rev 1:5).

From the above scripture, Jesus Christ is not calling us to be what He is not. He is calling us to be His witnesses because He is the Faithful Witness. God does not want you to be just a witness but a faithful one at that. Being a witness means you are sitting on the fence: you are capable of being influenced either way.

Many witnesses have become false witnesses. When some witnesses are offered incentives, they change their story and switch over to the opposing camp. Around us today are many false witnesses. Who is a false witness? Proverbs 6:19 says a false witness is a liar. If you claim to be born again but still engage in lies, you are a false witness.

A liar is a child of Satan, his or her ministerial position notwithstanding. If you are still telling lies you are no longer representing the One who chose you to be His witness. You have moved camp.

“A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies” (Prov 14:5 ). One thing that amazes me today is the ease with which leaders tell lies and engage in deceit.

Those days, after we were born again, we were afraid to lie. When someone lies in a delicate or volatile situation, one would understand even though the situation cannot turn a lie from being what it is. But you would see leaders lying about things that do not threaten them. They do not take care to ensure whatever comes out of their mouth is the truth. There is little or no commitment to truth.

To worsen this, believers lie and call it ‘wisdom’. No, a lie is not wisdom but foolishness. One reason many will find themselves in eternal hell is because of lies (Rev 21:8; 22:15). No liar will make it to Heaven. Do you love making up stories? You are on a hell-bound bus. In John 14:6, Jesus says He is the Truth. In other words, He is Truth personified. How can Jesus be the epitome of truth and you want to represent Him through lies? Repent. Stop lying. Restitute over the lies you have told and make your ways right before God. You can be a true witness.

Every lie you tell makes eternal reservations for you in hell.
