|“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” (Matthew 15:14).Is it possible to be heading for a distant destination with one’s eyes closed? Today’s reading says it is possible in leadership. The Lord Jesus Christ talks of blind leadership and blind leaders. Are you a leader? Are you blind or seeing? Is your leader blind or seeing? Who is a blind leader?A blind leader is an unsaved person who is leading others. If you are an unsaved pastor who cannot live a victorious Christian life, yet you are supposed to be watching over souls, you are a blind leader. Some people go into ministry or start a church because they were trained in the seminary to do this; not because God said they should.
A pastor headed a church for about 25 years. Then one day, he invited a man of God who taught the Word with conviction and he made an altar call for sinners to come forward. The host pastor was one of those who came out to be born again! This was after close to three decades of pastoring!
A blind leader is also someone put over God’s people but who fails to consult God and receive divine directions concerning those under him. A blind leader is one who is bereft of the gifts of the Spirit – particularly the revelational gifts, which should keep him abreast of events that would affect those under him.
Also, a blind leader is one who heavily depends on his physical sight to take spiritual decisions. He is one who has lost his spiritual eyes to birds of the air over past acts of disobedience and disrespect to parents. In addition, a blind leader is one who has no revelational knowledge of God’s Word, hence all he teaches is the letter but not the spirit of the Word.
A blind leader is one who is influenced by man’s gifts or bribes and therefore compromises the truth in decision making or judgement. He is also one who has no vision – he is not sure where he is going to. He is one who has no inkling about what the future holds for him or those under him. Are you a blind leader? The fate of blind leaders is damnation. If you do not even care for yourself as a blind leader, think of the fate of those you are leading!
|Ask God to open your spiritual eyes and destroy everything making you spiritually blind.
