|Memorise: “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase” (1 Cor 3:6)
Read: Luke 8:1-3
|At the shore of the Red Sea, after the sea had parted and a way made through it, the Israelites remained where they were. But for their leader, they would have lost their miracle. We learn that God can make a way for you in unexpected quarters. To the average Israelite, the only possible way to cross that big sea was through a ship. Even a boat will be some great risk.Alternatively, if they could swim, that would help to some extent. However, not all swimmers can attempt a sea that large. These days, we would think of constructing a bridge across it. The Isrealites least expected a way through the sea.
As you walk with God this year, do not limit your faith. Expect just anything He is prepared to give you. He could make you the beneficiary of maiden miracles – one that nobody has ever experienced before. God can turn your problem into solution.
Another possible reason for not jumping at the toll free way the Holy Spirit had created in the midst of the Red Sea, was that they wanted somebody to go in first, to assure them it was not a death trap. In other words, they wanted someone to bell the cat. Someone must take the lead before they could follow.
For instance, in today’s reading, we are told of a group of women who became Jesus’ partners. They provided the needed support for His ministry. Jesus had a treasury because some rich women – some of whom were healed of sicknesses or demonic possession made it their duty to minister back to Him. They were ahead and then others followed with their support.
Matthew 27:57-60 says apart from women, some men including Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus were rich men who led in financing Jesus’ ministry. Joseph was so influential that he went to demand for the body of Jesus. According to John 19:13-40, Nicodemus teamed up with Joseph to organize Jesus’ burial.
God is still in need of those who will bell the cat in worship, giving, Christian service, tithing, evangelism, forgiveness, etc. so that others can follow. Will you be that fellow?
|Leading is not in words but in actions. If you always wait to be told to do something before you do it, your leadership abilities are in doubt.|
