Prayers to overcome evil attacks

By Babatope Babalobi

Listen to the audio sermon here

Jeremiah 51

61And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, and shall see, and shall read all these words; 62Then shall you say, O LORD, you have spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

63And it shall be, when you have made an end of reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the middle of Euphrates: 64And you shall say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring on her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

I am looking at a message which is titled: ‘Understanding the Spirit of Babylon’.
There are two separate references to Babylon in the Bible. There was the ancient kingdom of Babylon and the prophetic kingdom of Babylon. Why the ancient Kingdom of Babylon was founded by Nimrod and was once ruled by Nebuchadnezzar, the prophetic or mystical kingdom of Babylon is going to be inhabited by Satan and his demons angels in the last days, before it is judged by God.
A remarkable similarity between the ancient kingdom of Babylon and the prophetic kingdom of Babylon is that both of them are full of evils.

The book of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and Genesis contained copious references to the ancient kingdom of Babylon while Revelation, chapters 17 and 18 has several references to the prophetic kingdom of Babylon.

Why do we need to understand the spirit of Babylon and pray towards overcoming it?
The Bible recalls various evils that were practiced in both ancient Babylon and the prophetic Babylon, unfortunately, most of these evil practices are still occurring in the modern day world.
What do we mean by the spirit of Babylon?
1. This is the spirit of sorcery that deceives all nations, Read Revelation 18 vs. 23. Babylon is the source of sorcery, divinations, talisman, and enchantments that deceives Kings, Rulers, and People in authority, celebrities, and even the common folk.
There is a reader of this message that is facing afflictions due to the power of sorcery working against him/her. Today I provoke the blood of Jesus Christ against every power of sorcery working against your destiny in the name of Jesus.

2. The spirit of Babylon stands for the spirit of idolatry that causes people and nations to create or construct graven images which they turn to their gods. It is that spirit that is prevalent in Asia where a country like India has over 33million gods. It was that spirit that inspired Nebuchadnezzar to construct an image and order every person to worship it. You can read that in Daniel 3 vs.1, Jeremiah 51 vs. 52.

In Africa, almost every family has a god with an altar or shrine dedicated to it. Unfortunately the gods are not dead, and wicked people are invoking their demonic powers to destroy destinies. Today, I silence every family idol crying against your salvation in Jesus name.

3. The spirit of Babylon is the power that is controlling political thrones in the world. It is that spirit that inspires people to have in ordinate ambition for political power, fame, and position. It is that spirit that decides who becomes what and where. It is that spirit that politicians make covenant with in order to assume powerful positions.

In Revelation 18 vs. 3, the Bible says that all Kings of the earth are committing fornication with the spirit of Babylon. It is that spirit of Babylon that causes political office holders to become selfish and seek only after their own good rather than the good of the people.

Several nations especially in Africa and Asia remain underdeveloped because the spirit of Babylon has ensnared its leaders. Europe and America is also facing crises because its leaders and people have abandoned God and embraced the spirit of Babylon.

God is looking for intercessors that will stand in gap for these nations and pull down all Babylon strongholds on all political thrones. I pray that you shall be one of such intercessors for Christ in Jesus. I pray that men after God’s heart shall rule the affairs of nations in Jesus name.

4. The spirit of Babylon is the spirit of the Anti-Christ; the Bible in Revelation describes the prophetic Babylon as a habitation of devil and the home of every foul spirit. The evil spirit and demons that afflict the children of God are usually sent from Babylon. Persecution of Christians is on the increase globally and this is a product of the spirit of Babylon.

Today, I arrest every evil power afflicting your spirit, soul and body. Your adversary shall be demoted and you shall be promoted in Jesus name.

5. The spirit of Babylon stands for the spirit of worldliness. The Bible says in revelation 17 vs. 4 that this is the spirit that influences people to commit various abominations. It is this spirit that causes people to chase after gadgets, obsessive fashion, ungodly movies, worldly music, reality shows, etc. It is that spirit that causes football to attract millions of followers and billions of viewership. When people  talk about the god of soccer, they are knowingly or unknowingly  referring to the spirit of Babylon.

Today, I pray for you and I cut off every habit in your life that does not glorify God and I pray that you shall receive a heart of holiness in Jesus name.

6. The spirit of Babylon is behind all the evils in the world such as sicknesses, anger, hunger, suffering accident, and poverty. At times, we ask why God allows evil to happen. It is the spirit of Babylon that influences temptations that leads to evil. Satan exists to tempt children of disobedience, and  evil results as a punishment for all forms of ungodliness. As long as the spirit of Babylon exists, evils will continue to occur in the lives of as many that makes them its satanic laboratory.

I pray that you shall receive a new heart and a new spirit today, and the spirit to go and sin no more will overshadow you in Jesus name.

7. The Spirit of Babylon is responsible for the satanic prosperity experienced by many of believers, many people make covenant with the devil and in turn he gives them riches that do not last. Heavenly prosperity is all round prosperity including financial prosperity, health prosperity, marital prosperity, and spiritual prosperity. See Revelation 18 vs.3.

If you see anyone that is rich but he is not born again Christian, the source of his money is definitely satanic, and you do not need to envy such sinners, but intercede that they retrace their steps in order not to end up in hell. The wealth of God does not add sorrow, so wait faithfully and patiently for it.

I pray against any Babylonian spirit limiting your breakthroughs and saying No to your progress; and I push you to the River Jordan of your breakthroughs in Jesus name

8. The Spirit of Babylon is that queen of heaven sponsoring mermaid spirits to torment and afflicts believers. Do you come from a riverine community, is there a river or stream in your community that is worshiped,  are you name after a river, or is your native town named after a river? You need to dethrone the queen of heaven, bind and cast out its water spirits, and command her/them to fall down and rise no more in Jesus name.

9. The Spirit of Babylon is responsible for witchcraft and sorceries used to manipulate the destiny of men and waste opportunities. Read Revelation 18 vs.23. Witchcraft spirit is particularly common in Africa and has wasted a lot of destinies. The Bible says that great men of the earth have been deceived by their sorcery.

I command the power of witchcraft over your life to be destroyed in Jesus mighty name. Receive the power to oppress and kill household witchcraft in Jesus name.

10. The Spirit of Babylon is responsible for persecuting Christians. The Bible describes it as being full of the blood of prophets and of the saints. Revelation 18 vs.24. Anywhere you noticed the persecution of Christians or the church; you need to put down the Spirit of Babylon that is responsible for this before the work of God will thrive.

11. The Spirit of Babylon is responsible for selfishness, greed, disobedience; it was that Spirit that influenced the people of the earth to build the towel of Babel in disobedience to God. The spirit of Babylon causes dissensions and disloyalty in churches, it is the ‘I’ spirit always wanting to put self above others, and it is the rebellious spirit promoting human wisdom above God’s wisdom

Now that we have come to a fuller understanding of the spirit of Babylon, how do you overcome it? Ten simple steps.
1. You need to become born again, read the word of God, serve God, and have absolute faith and trust in God as the deliverer.
2. You need to fast and pray especially at midnights as the spirit of Babylon is stubborn.
3. Flee siN, live right, and give not cause for the devil to accuse you.
4. You need to execute judgement to the Spirit of Babylon.
5. You need to put down its strong hold.
6. You need to rebuke it, bind, and cast it out.
7. You need to command it to be buried alive.
8. You need to command it not to rise again.
9. You need to command is glory to sink inside the water.
10. You need to speak the word of God against it and claim your benefits

Marriage problems: Beware of the strange woman

Audio sermon: Beware of Strange Women

Esau

Genesis 26 vs. 34-35: When Esau was 40 years old, he married two Hittite women. One was Judith the daughter of Beeri. The other was Basemath the daughter of Elon. These marriages made Isaac and Rebekah very upset.

Samson

Judges 14 vs. 1-3: Samson went down to the city of Timah. He saw a young Philistine woman there.

David

2 Samuel 11: 2-5:   Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the King’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold…then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her…and the woman conceived…”s

Solomon

1 kings 11 vs. 1-3: But the King Solomon loved many strange women…of the nations concerning which the Lord had said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in unto them…..and he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines, and his wives turned away his heart

There are many strange women in the Bible as the passages quoted above reveal, and the unfortunate thing is that these strange women caused the down fall of Kings and Princes.

Esau, lost the favour of his parents because he chooses to marry three strange women. Joseph would have lost his divine placement if he had failed to flee from a strange woman. Samson was not that fortunate. He could tear a lion to pieces by the power of the spirit, but got kidnapped by a strange woman.. He was disgraced and suffered a humiliating death because he was entangled with a strange woman called Delilah.

David, the man after God’s heart who had won mighty victories against the Goliaths of this world, was captured by the Goliath of adultery. What do we say of Solomon, who was ensnared into idolatry by strange women thereby losing the favour of God and probably a place in heaven.. King Ahab was another victim of strange women, whom he married from the  Idolatrous tribe of Sidon, and he ended up in idolatry and wickedness.

Kings have been caged by her, many great men have been ensnared by her, Princes have become victims of her wanton destruction, and lowly placed men have their sorrows multiplied by her.

Strange women don’t have marital plans, but desire to deny the rightful wife the fruits of marriage. Some that have marital plans believe in what they can gain than what they can contribute to building  the marriage.

Strange women are in our midst. They are all around us- in the working places, at social gatherings, and even in the Church. God ordained the institution of marriage to be a union of a male and a female.

Your wife should be your greatest confidant, friend and companion. Any other woman that takes this role away from your wife is a strange woman. If you go a step further and become sexually involved with this woman, the strangeness becomes multiplied.

At the worst if this woman becomes another ‘wife’, then you are treading on the path of destruction earlier followed by Esau, Samson, and Solomon. What could have been David’s destruction was averted because he repented. May God deliver us from strange women.

Who is a strange woman?

A strange woman has the spirit of antichrist.

A strange woman is idolatrous, a goddess, and a heathen

A strange woman is adulterous, a seducer, and sexual pervert.

A strange woman has idolatrous family background.

A strange woman has loose morals, she may look outwardly beautiful, but her heart is full of seduction, her smiles are deceitful and her thoughts are wicked.

A strange woman is full of evil, greedy, a traitor and deadly

A strange woman is full of deceit. She pretends to love her husband, but she is actually conspiring with his enemies for his destruction

A strange woman is the enemy within, possessed with evil powers

A strange woman may have a sweet name, but her kiss is poison.

A strange woman is the path to destruction.

Strange woman are enchanters who are unrelenting until they succeed in ensnaring their pre

A strange woman is the alluring women we meet on the street, that end up displacing the legal wives within a short time.

A strange woman is a parasite, and once she sees nothing else to suck she takes off to look for another victim.

A strange woman is the daughter of Babylon, the emissary of Satan, and an ambassador for the destruction of men.

A strange woman is the path to hell.

How can a person avoid strange women?

  1. Through self determination and self willed. Joseph firmly decided in his heart that he would not commit sexual sin and God helped him.
  2. Through violent resistant. Strange women are desperate; therefore you must also be desperate in your will to resist them. Joseph as a desperate Saint. He freed himself from the grip of a strange woman, left behind his clothing , and ran for his salvation.
  3. You must be able to pay a price and make sacrifices for your uncompromising holiness. At times these strange women may be your boss or a person placed in higher positions that you, who may be in a position to dispense favours. You must be able to shun the lucre of fornication and pay the sacrifices that may arise.
  4. Remained prayerful, seek the counsel of others and invite others to intercede for you in prayers. If Esau had sought the counsel of his parents, he would not have married the daughters of Hittites. If Samson had listened to the advice of his parent he would not have married from an idolatrous family of Sidonians. If David had been prayerful, he would have had divine strength to overcome the spirit of lust. Solomon forgot God and fell into sexual and other sins.
  5. Be attached to God and the spirit through fellowship with the brethren and reading the Bible. The Holy Spirit will always warn you if you are about to take a wrong step. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
  6. Avoid situations and environments that influence you to strange relationships. These include worldly parties, pubs, and ungodly social gatherings.
  7. Be choosy in the type of friends you maintain. Many have been influenced into bad habits under peer pressure. If all your friends are having an affair or a polygamist, then you are likely to end up being one.
  8. Don’t keep evil secrets. Expose and flee from any appearance of evil. Don’t encourage yourself in ungodly relationships. Immediately you notice undue favours from the opposite sex, inform people around. Strange women do not like their affairs to be known to people. If you also notice that you are being troubled by the spirit of lust, fast and pray and encourage the brethren to pray for you. Lastly, if you naturally develop an attraction for a strange woman, don’t keep it secret, otherwise it will become depend. Inform good counselors about this, and they will keep watch over you to ensure you are not consumed by passion. Evil thrives in secrecy.

Christian sermon on thanksgiving Day

Memorise: “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful” (Col 3:15)

Read: Luke 17:11-19

It is good to thank God for tangible material blessings – provision of a house, car, job, child, promotion, contract, answer to prayers, etc. But what gives God greater joy and provides you greater mileage in your faith record is when you thank God for unseen, intangible and seemingly negligible blessings such as sleeping and waking up, spiritual blessings, victory over unseen battles, etc.

How often do you thank God for these? Sometime ago, I read about a man who was attacked by armed robbers. He was robbed of his property and beaten. Yet, he came to thank God. Many who saw no reason for him to thank God, began to ask why he had come to thank God. To them, if he had escaped the armed robbers or his property were intact, those would be justifiable reasons to thank God; but not when he was beaten and robbed. The man saw what they did not see, and said he was thanking God that he was robbed but was not a robber himself; that he had something somebody considered valuable to steal, and because they took his property, not his life.

One lesson from this is that if you want to live a life of thanksgiving, you must considered what others take for granted and probe into the extreme possibilities of a negative event which did not take place. It calls for creativity!

The ten lepers had a divine appointment. They were going out while Jesus was coming in. May your path cross the Lord’s today. Even though they were some distance away, they were outcasts, moving corpses and destined to die sooner or later, they still had something – their voices for which to thank Him. God never leaves you without something to thank Him for.

As long as you have your mouth, you can call or thank Him and get out of trouble. The one who can speak out will always tell people where it is hurting. This is why I pity little children. An adage says, The inability to speak is the root of all ill-luck. As an undergraduate, I went to spend a week with my uncle. The pounded yam his wife served me was small. If I was going to spend just that day, I would have kept quiet. But since I had a week ahead of me, I did not want hunger to kill me, so I asked her if I was really welcome.

And she said ‘Yes’. With that, I requested for more food and she served me. Thank God you have a mouth. Use it to thank God from today. The more creative you are, the more the quality of your thanksgiving.

Go on a creative ride as you thank God for all He has done for you. Thank Him in a different way from how you have always done it.

Plan for success, become succesful

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest” (Prov 6:8)

Read: Ecclesiastes 11:1-4

“Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest” (Prov 6:8). Another lesson from the ants is that they know how to prepare for their desired harvests. Harvests do not just come: They are planned for.

Before the sky breaks forth as rain, you must first load it. Ecclesiastes 11:3 says, “If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be”.

The clouds cannot deliver the rain they have not conceived. Many times, believers expect the downpour of blessings without necessarily working towards it. It does not work like that. If you fail to load your clouds, you will continue to be in dryness. Famine is guaranteed for the one who fails to sow for the rainy day.

Some people around us are just spending their last reserves of God’s blessings. After this is exhausted, they will go through lack, want, and financial dryness because they failed to prepare for the future.

Are you preparing for your harvest? What plans do you have for yourself and family in 5, 10, 20, 30 years from now? To be like the ants, you must take decisive steps concerning your future. Not every blessing God gives to you is meant to be spent. Some believers have no bank accounts. They hardly save anything from their income. Usually, the excuse is that they earn far too little to save from. That is not true. Every provision comes with a seed and a fruit.

Never eat the seed with the fruit. Sow the seed to guarantee a future harvest in every blessing God gives to you. Your future depends on how you treat your seeds. If you eat them up, you will starve and surely beg tomorrow. If you invest them wisely, your harvest will be awaiting you. You can sow seeds into the Gospel, invest in landed property and shares and carefully monitor their activities. Save at least 10 percentage of your income in a fixed deposit account capable of attracting interest.

Reduce your expenses and cost of living and stabilize these even when your income increases: Channel the remainder into more meaningful investments. Cultivate an investment sense and mindset. Do not wait until you have millions. Start investing in shares with the N1,000 or N2,000 on you . Over a period of time, you will enter your harvest.

Draw up a 10, 20 or 30-year investment plan for yourself and every member of your immediate family in savings, stocks, bonds, shares, etc. Invest also in soul winning.

Christian Sermon On Time Management

PASTOR ADEBOYE

Memorise: “It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth” (Lam 3:27)

Read: Lamentation 3:25-27

In Proverbs 6:6-11, we are enjoined to go to the ants.

God refers every slothful, and indolent believer to learn hard work and industry from ants.

If ants can achieve so much without supervision, we should achieve much more with supervision. Proverbs 6:8 says, “Provideth her meat in summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest”.

One lesson from the ants is that they know when to work and when to rest.

God’s Divine Visitation

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (Jn 10:10)

Read: Genesis 18:1- 2

There are two kinds of divine encounter: when someone meets with God and when God Himself comes visiting. The latter offers greater benefits for the visited.

When God visits an individual, that fellow cannot remain the same. Usually, such divine visits are attracted during critical periods in the life of the fellow visited.

According to our reading, God visited Abraham when the hope of becoming a father was lost.

After 25 years of waiting, God’s promise to him looked like a fairy tale. Has God promised you something and it seems He might have forgotten it? The Lord has not forgotten you.

He will visit you and every pending promise He has made will be fulfilled in Jesus’ Name.

“To whom God would make known what is the richest of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col 1:27).

When God visits you, lost hope will be restored. Have you lost hope of making it in life, finding a marriage partner, finding a good job, etc.?

Your hope is being restored now. In Genesis 19:1, destruction was imminent on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Their residents were about to be roasted alive by a landmark inferno that no national fire service could put out.

Just before the fiery judgement, Lot had visitors from the Heavenly planet and he and his immediate family were rescued.

Reasons for unanswered prayers

Memorise: “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Is 65:24). Read: John 5:2-14

“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24). Do you know that God can answer your unsaid prayers?

Articles on marriage: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands

Memorise: “Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, withersoever the governor listeth” (Jas 3:4 )

Read: Ephesians 5:22-24

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22).

The Bible gives the blueprint for success in marriage. If you want Heaven in your home, follow the marriage manual – the Bible. It is not enough to identify your God-given partner, even though this is very important.

SPIRITUAL RESTORATION

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you” (Joel 2:25)

Read: Mark 5:25-34

When Doctor Jesus performs an operation on you, there will be no blood, or scar, and your healing will be permanent. Are you a candidate for an operation? Ask for the visit of Doctor Jesus today.

He is the Restorer. In Mark 5:25-34, when the woman with the issue of blood encountered Him, not only did the blood dry up instantly, she never had to spend her money on sickness for the rest of her life. Are you experiencing unusual flow? It shall stop today in Jesus’ Name. Are your cells malfunctioning?

Whatever is responsible shall be uprooted today. I command every cancerous cell in your body to die now. I decree total restoration of health to your body now. The woman with the issue of blood recovered physically and financially.

In Daniel 4:28-37, king Nebuchadnezzar who once ruled the world suffered major losses due to arrogance and disobedience. He became insane, lost his throne and became a wild beast in the forest.

But when the Great Restorer decided to remember him, He restored him physically, mentally, and socially. God washed him clean and returned him to his throne. Have you lost anything to stubbornness, disobedience or a sinful lifestyle? As you repent, make your ways right and rededicate yourself to serve and follow God with all your heart from today, my God shall restore you in all areas you have suffered a loss.

A young man went to the United Kingdom in search of greener pastures. Little did he know that a doctor can get there and become an ice-cream hawker. When his friends who invited him had welcomed him and fed him for a day, they told him he was on his own.

When winter came, he almost froze to death before a good samaritan picked him from the streets to the hospital. From there, he was deported to Nigeria. Because of all he suffered, he had fits of insanity for a while before he became normal again. When God would restore him, he attended a Nigerian university and became a graduate.

Today, he is the pastor of one of our largest churches. God restored him mentally, physically, and socially. This year, the Lord will restore you on every side. What you thought was lost will soon return to you. Only draw nearer to God and please Him daily. Flee totally from sin. Obey Him in every area of your life. Live a life of thanksgiving, and you can be the next beneficiary of unlimited restoration.

Father, totally restore all my family has lost to spiritual and physical thieves.

Service offerings: You cannot outgive God

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering” (Gen 4:4)

Read: Genesis 18:8-15

When God smiles on your offering, He leaves you with a blank cheque. A woman once gave God an offering and He smiled on her. As at this time, she was heavily indebted. Today, she is a director in one of the big banks in Nigeria. She sat at home one day when somebody came and invited her to be a director in the bank. She had no money. She had no shares in the bank.

By every standard she never deserved this. But when God wants to demonstrate His love for you, He opens a way where nobody has seen one. When God loves you in a special way, He will order your steps and make circumstances favour you. This year, the Lord will cause you to hear the good news that will change your status for good.

Another lesson learnt from Genesis 18:1-15 is that when God deliberately requests an offering from you, you can be assured that it is a disguised avenue of blessing. When the All Sufficient God asks you for something, begin to celebrate because pending prophecies of several years could be fulfilled in one day.

His visit to Abraham was deliberate. It was an opportunity to effect His promise of several years. Is God asking you for something? Have you yielded or are you still struggling? Beloved, it is only an opportunity to fulfil what He has promised you. Obey Him today and enter into your joy!

Sometimes, God ignores your doubts. When God paid Abraham a visit, Sarah laughed because He said she would have a child. That was sheer unbelief! That was enough to stop God from fulfilling His promise to the couple. But God ignored her unbelief because He was the One who came to ask for food. He absorbed her doubts!

In the mighty Name of Jesus, the Lord will ignore your doubts and fears and manifest His promises and prophecies in your life. Has God requested you to do something for Him?

Go ahead and do it. It may be unknown to your spouse or spiritual leader. Obey Him with dispatch.

Whenever God asks you for something, it could be that He wants to use that avenue to restore something or some opportunity you once lost. Many times, when God is about to do something, He starts at the reverse side. It will take only discerning eyes and hearts to see God at work in such situations.

Meeting God’s demands is a sure way of meeting your needs.

Knowing God’s will for christian marriage

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come” (Job 14:14)

Read: 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

Some years ago, a young man came to tell us he had found someone to marry. But after our counselling session, it was obvious the lady was not his wife.

Yet he insisted that he had prayed and God had spoken to him. So he went ahead and married the ‘sister.’

The first night after their marriage, the brother invited her for prayer. She agreed but he observed that whenever he said, “In Jesus’ Name”, his wife refused to say ‘Amen’.

When he took her up on this, she told him she was not a Christian but that she wanted him as husband and her mission was accomplished! What was supposed to be the beginning of his joy became the beginning of his nightmare! Just because he could not pay the price in prayer!

Any choice you make without divine guidance will surely leave you with regrets, sorrow and lots of losses.

If you base your decision to marry that man or woman purely on physical beauty, material possessions, status or academic achievements, you may spend the rest of your life in regret.

That relationship in which you refuse to fully involve God, must be broken. Involve God at the fulcrum of every decision so that He can prevent you from painful errors.

In Genesis 17:1-3, God told Abraham that if he wanted to be in partnership with Him, he must be willing to pay the price.

“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Mal 3:6).

God told Abraham that He is the Lord, the Almighty God who changes not. The fellow who has to change is you. Change can be a painful experience.

Today, many who claim to be children of God – even pastors, are bereft of a commensurate change. They still talk and behave like the world, cheat God and fellow men, etc. Some female ministers are a shame to behold.

They are so full of gutter language and strife-prone that you cannot differentiate them from an average market woman on the street.

Take a look at your self: how have you lived your Christian life? Are you condoning what the Master cannot condone?

This year, the Lord is calling you into a closer relationship with Him. He wants to cut a covenant with you, your family, and church. But you must be ready to pay the price. Your consecration must produce a definite change in your dressing, talking, eating and sleeping.

You must be ready to be cheated and at the instance of the El-Shaddai, ignore it. Until you change, your change will not come. The greater your change, the higher you go. Pay the price. It’s worth the sacrifice!

Every Heavenly blessing has a price. If you cannot pay the price, you will end up with an earthly version or alternative.

Dressing: How should christian dress up?

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself” (Proverbs 14:14)

Read: Hosea 4:15-17

There are several baits a believer should be wary of or else that fellow would fall into Satan’s trap.

They are; love of money, lust of the flesh, shunning godly counsel, harboring an unforgiving spirit and seeking for power outside God. Another bait is spiritual lukewarmness. It is very dangerous.

Will God forgive my past sexual sins?

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise” (Heb 11:39)

Read: Matthew 1:1-6

Ruth is an example of someone who entered a new level of breakthrough. Her background and antecedents were nothing to write home about. She hailed from Moab – a nation of idol worshippers. Her nation was under divine condemnation yet she was singled out to become a great grand mother of Jesus Christ.

If you look at the genealogy of the Jews recorded in Matthew 1:1-17, Ruth was listed as one of the two female gentiles that made it into the list. This tells us that in God’s book of records, there is no discrimination on basis of gender or nationality.

As long as you stand out wherever you are for the good of the Kingdom, you will be listed. Another thing is that your past cannot prevent you from being listed in Heaven’s hall of fame except you fail to deal with it. In this genealogy were four women – Ruth and Rahab, Tamar and Bathsheba.

The first two were gentiles while the last two were Israelites. Ruth was an idolater while Rahab was a notorious harlot. Tamar was a victim of incest while Bathsheba was an adulteress, yet they never allowed the sins of the past to hinder their future.

If your past has not been brought under the cover and cleansing power of Calvary’s fountain, it may stop you from entering your next level, especially your ultimate level of breakthrough.

Are you still hiding the sins of your past ungodly life-style? Confess them to God, ask for forgiveness and bring them under the blood of Jesus. Make restitution where necessary and thereafter ask God to use your past to facilitate the good of your future.

Although an unbeliever, Ruth’s contact with her husband as well as Naomi her mother-in-law transformed her into a woman of virtue within 10 years (Ruth 3:11).

It was her encounter with the Jehovah they served, that so impacted her that she refused to return to idolatry and her idolatrous relations. Even after returning to Israel with her mother-in-law, she kept herself pure. Several rich young men came to her but she turned them down, until her purity and virtuous life-style became common knowledge to all in Bethlehem.

Ruth had a public testimony of being consistently virtuous: Do you? In the lives of most Christians today, there is a gradual return to old sinful habits. Have you been making progress on a regular basis concerning your character? Is anger, lust, complaining or intolerance not returning to your life?

Can your neighbors or community attest to your exemplary Christian life? Have you influenced others for good like Naomi?

Like the heroes of faith catalogued in Hebrews 11, do you have a good report before believers and unbelievers?

Does God really heal?

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “Beloved, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” (Jer 32:27)

Read: Judges 16:22-28

Some years ago, we had a Holy Ghost service at the National Stadium, in Lagos, Nigeria. The place was packed full. A particular man who had had some problems was in attendance. One of his kidneys had been removed.

On the day of its removal, there were all kinds of complications. It took 18 hours for the operation to be carried out. During the service, a Word of Knowledge came saying, there was somebody there, one of whose kidneys had been removed while the second one was giving him fresh problems.

Should christians use candles, annoiting oil and water to pray?

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure” (Heb 10:6)

Read: Hebrews 10:4-9

From Naaman’s experience, we observe that anger, pride and having a preconceived idea of how a miracle should come, are factors capable of preventing miracles from taking place. Another hindrance to miracles is the reliance on the physical – on something you can see and touch.

A barren woman once came to us for prayers some years ago. When I confirmed that she was not born again, I led her to Christ, gave her two tracts and prayed for her. By the time she returned to testify, she said she was disappointed that day because I only prayed for her and gave her two tracts, but did not give her what she really expected – any oil, water or candle.

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Read: Lamentation 3:31-37

There are categories of breakthroughs. Some are delayed, while others are not. If your breakthrough in a particular area has been delayed, find out from God what is causing it. As soon as it is taken care of, the breakthrough will be delivered.

Financial breakthrough principles

PASTOR ADEBOYE

Memorise: “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matt 6:8)

Read: Matthew 6:7-8

“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (Genesis 2:18).

Another benefit of partnering with God is that it unveils the unspoken needs of the partner. Philippians 4:19 assures us of divine supplies of our needs.

Annoiting oil: Should christians use annoiting oil?

PASTOR ADEBOYE

Memorise: “And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith” (Lk 17:5)

Read: Hebrews 11:1-6

Reliance on physical objects such as ‘holy’ water, candles, oil etc. will not only hinder but also destroy your miracle. It is not the oil but the anointing on God’s anointed that delivers the miracle, whether oil is used or not. Focus on God’s Word, not the physical symbols which can be very limited.

Another closely related hindrance to miracles is desire for special attention. In 2 Kings 5:11-13, Naaman expected Elisha to come out and specially attend to him, after all, he was a general in the Syrian army. There are some people who, whenever they are sick and are attended to by the health practitioner, never believe they are well until they are given some pills to swallow, or are injected.

Convenants in the Bible

Memorise: “As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations” (Genesis 17:4)

Read: Genesis 17:1-8

After 24 years of following God, the Lord visited Abraham one day and told him He had never truly introduced Himself to him. On this occasion, He introduced Himself as the Almighty God – Jehovah El-Shaddai , the God who can do anything, bring children out of stones and reverse the irreversible.

He did not give Abraham the opportunity to introduce himself because He knew Abraham more than he knew himself.

To this magnificent God, Abraham was not more than the dust of the earth or a worm. He was like a flower which blossoms by day and withers by night. God knew all his limitations. He knew his barrenness.

Yet God offered to partner with him. He said He would provide him divine support and turn his nothingness into something:; his childlessness into his fathering nations, his foolishness into wisdom, etc.

Sermon: Praying to God

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory”( Ps 24:10)

Read: Genesis 8:20-22

In Genesis 18:1-5, Abraham had a divine visitation. Three strangers came near his tent but did not come in even though they were on an assignment to bless him. Until he made the first move, they stayed out. One lesson from this story is that nothing moves without a mover.

No car moves without an engine. Behind the engine of a car is a driver. If the driver refuses to start the engine, the car which has the potential of taking him to distant destinations by road, remains on the same spot. It is the duty of the driver to constantly supply fuel for the car to work. If the fuel tank is full today but spent by the next day, to move that car, the driver must refuel.

This is a lesson in prosperity. The fact that you gave an offering yesterday should not prevent you from giving another day. Yesterday’s offering only succeeded in moving you forward for that day. Today’s offering will further move you forward from where you were yesterday.

Bible scriptures on walking with God

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: ” The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way” (Ps 25:9)

Read: Isaiah 57:1-2

In Genesis 2:15-23, we see that divine partnership relocates God’s partners into their prepared place. Another benefit of partnership with God found in Genesis 2:15 is that God assigns tasks, or duties to His partners. He took Adam into Eden to dress or maintain it. No true divine partner lacks heavenly assignments.

Are you currently without a definite heavenly assignment? Check out your partnership status with God. One evidence of being a divine partner is that you will not lack divine assignment or task.

“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat” (Genesis 2:16). Another benefit of partnering with God in today’s reading is that God reserves instructions for His partners. Jeremiah 10:23 says: “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps”. If you are in partnership with God, He will warn you of the danger zones on your way.

He will tell you of the ‘blessings’ that will bring you into trouble. He will guide you on the job to take out of several options. He will warn you of foods that can kill, and when to leave a particular job or start another. This year, as you become God’s partner, He will open your eyes to the true nature of opportunities that come your way in Jesus’ Name.

Christian sermon: Are you backsliding?

PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE

Memorise: “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together; and made themselves aprons” (Gen 3:7)

Read: 2 Chronicles 9:13-16

While building and equipping the temple, a huge chunk of gold was kept in the storehouse of the temple. A few years later, after king Solomon’s successor, Rehoboam had sinned, and his heart turned from God, God allowed his enemies to invade the land. At the warning of Shemaiah the prophet, all the leaders of the nation together with the king humbled themselves.

Although this secured for them a measure of protection and deliverance, they suffered some huge losses. Worse hit were the golden treasures in both the temple and the king’s palace (2 Chron 12:1-12). One lesson here is that late obedience to God’s instruction might attract some consequences.

Read: Isaiah 43:18-21

Thanking God for great things He has done could be easy, but thanking Him when things seem not to work out can be difficult. Yet, that is what separates the thankful from the unthankful. In one year, a sister lost her job, lost her car to thieves and her flat to fire.

Christian sermon on essence of salvation

Memorise: “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col 1:27).

Read: Luke 24:13-17

“And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?” (Luke 24:17). After Jesus died, He was buried. A few days later, two of His disciples on their way to Emmaus village began a conversation. The news of His resurrection was heralded by some of their women.

Peter went to the sepulchre where He was buried but did not find His body; only that His clothes were neatly wrapped and arranged. As they reflected over their loss of Jesus Christ, the two were in sorrow. Not long after, Jesus joined them in the discourse but they did not recognize Him. The lesson here is that when a man loses Jesus, he loses everything.

Success tips: Bible scriptures on how to succeed

Memorise: “The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets” (Prov 26:13)

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Read: Proverbs 24:30-31

“By their fruits you shall know them”. A sluggard is recognized by his fruits.

One of such is having several untreated files pending on his table. Proverbs 24:30-31 says the field of the sluggard is overtaken by weeds, thorns and nettles because of long neglect.

If visitors come to your church and you keep heaping their cards but hardly follow them up, that church is full of sluggards.

If the Lord has given you different assignments which you have not done, it is because you are a sluggard. In the same vein, if you always want others to do your work for you, your fruit shows you are a sluggard.

Pastor Adeboye-God heals

Pastor Adeboye

Memorise: “And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him” (Mk 1:34)

Read: Mark 1:40-45

Just as people get involved in matters whether it concerns them or not, so also does God.

Whenever He does, it is called divine involvement. When people want to find out if you are involved in a matter, they will ask if you have a hand in it. Divine involvement is about God having a hand in something.

In Mark 1:40-45, a leper met Jesus and asked if He was willing to heal him. He could have just said ‘Yes, be healed’ and the leper would have received his healing; However, He touched him with compassion before healing him.

Evagelism:christians and evangelism

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Memorise: “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matt 5:13).

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matthew 5:13).

Believers are compared to salt. Salt has multiple uses, some of which have not been explored. In this sense, salt is seen as something of great value.

Bible story of Joshua and Caleb

Memorise: “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Gen 12:3)
Read: Joshua 14:6-14

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

The 12 spies Moses sent to the promised land returned with two sets of reports. Ten of them said they had seen the next level and that it was beautiful, but the problems to encounter before getting there were too many, hence it was preferable for them to remain at their present level.

The other two differed as they said as long as God was with them, they would not only see or have a foretaste of the next level, but also possess it. After 45 years, the only survivors of that generation – Caleb and Joshua were still alive. While Joshua was now the national leader, Caleb was still strong enough to take on mountains.

The average runs from mountains while the outstanding dares them. A mountain could refer to a problem. When Caleb said, “Give me this mountain”, he was praying to God to make him a problem-solver. It means he was asking the Lord for wisdom, ability and necessary gifts and endowment to enable him solve the problem of others.

The only people of value on earth today are those who can solve the problems of others. A mechanic is valuable when a car breaks down. A doctor is valuable when somebody gets sick. I have heard my children make selfish prayers concerning me. They would say, ”Father, preserve him for us”. Of what value are you to your family, church, community, nation or the world at large?

Some years ago, a pastor told me that whenever he woke up in the morning, he would cry unto God to send all the sick, barren and problem-laden people in the town to him. He believed if they came and God solved their problems, the church would grow automatically. The sinner has a problem. When you witness to him, and he responds, you have solved the problem. The sick has a problem. When you lay hands on the sick and he recovers, you have solved that problem.

The captive has a problem. When you use the anointing of God on you to liberate the captive, you have solved the problem. “Give me this mountain” therefore is a request for one to be made a channel of blessing. Are you a channel of blessing? True channels of blessings do not just sit down doing nothing, but they search for opportunities to be a blessing to someone.

They pay a price to be a blessing to others. Are you afraid of mountains or you pray for them? When was the last time you were a blessing to someone?

Father, make my life and family a channel of blessing. Let all who come in contact with me glorify your Name.

Tips for Business success and achievement

Memorise: “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows” (Heb 1:9)

Read: Acts 6:1-8

“The summary of Deuteronomy 28:1-13 is that you shall be outstanding. 1 Corinthians 2:12 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God”.

There is no way you can be outstanding without standing out. If you are not prepared to be different, there is no way you can be outstanding. You have to stand out from the crowd.

One of my sons says when others are sitting down, you should be standing; when others are standing you should be standing out; when others are standing out, you should be outstanding.

You cannot be in the crowd, remain with the crowd, be like the crowd and do things like them and expect to be outstanding. In Acts 6:1-8, there were seven deacons who were full of the Holy Spirit, had good report and were specially chosen for an assignment.

Essence of spiritual warfare

Memorise: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (1 Tim 6:12)

Read: 1 Timothy 6:11-12

Your ability to withstand Satan’s tricks, attacks and schemes depends on how much of God’s armour you wear, how often you wear it, and how well you wear it (Eph 6:11).

Anytime a child of God is hit by the enemy’s bullet, the individual should quickly ask himself or herself: ‘Is my armour on?’ Why? This is because this armour is not like earthly armour you would have to remove before going for a shower. It should always be on you except you decide to drop it.

Another question a believer who is hit by enemy’s bullet should ask is, ‘Is the whole armour on?’ Why? Many times we put on this armour, we leave one or more parts unworn. Even when we know how to cast out devils, some of us refuse to put on the Gospel shoes ; soul-winning. If you have all others on but refuse to win souls for Jesus, you stand the risk of being hit by Satan’s bullets. For instance, it takes wearing the Gospel boots to activate the promise in Luke 10:19.

You can confess it everyday if you like, but if you fail to evangelize and you dare demons, you will be disappointed, if not put into serious problems! The challenges some believers face with demons- physically and in dreams, could be as a result of the loophole created by not putting on Gospel boots. Why will serpents not bite you if you are not wearing evangelism boots?

1 Timothy 6:12 says we should fight the good fight of faith. The first fellow Jesus contended with before starting His ministry was the devil. This makes him a prominent adversary that must be fought.

Believers should neither glorify the devil nor ignore him. The greatest mistake anyone can make in life is to ignore the devil. If you ignore the devil, you may not survive to tell the rest of the story.

If you entered the house and you found an armed robber hiding under your bed, what will you do? Will you ignore him and go to sleep? No. If you do, by the time you wake up, you will not be happy with what you will see. If you see traces of the enemy in your dream, arise and fight.

If you notice any symptom of sickness in your body, arise and fight. When you notice a negative trend in your children, don’t ignore it; arise and fight. 1 Peter 5:8 says the devil is always on the move looking for opportunity to attack people. Any armour you fail to wear gives him the pleasure to attack you. Put on the whole armour! Which of the armour are you neglecting today? Immediately put it on now.

Those who ignore the devil live in self-deception. Those who recognize t

he devil live in fear. Don’t be caught in any of these!

Are you backsliding from God

Memorise: “And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him” (2 Chron 12:1).

Read: 2 Chronicles 12:1-10

Pastor Enoch  Adeboye

“And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him” (2 Chronicles 12:1). The most crucial moment in the lives of men is the time of success. Many believers continue to be on fire for God as long as challenges persist in their lives. The moment some come out of trouble, want, poverty or failure, that is the end of their relationship with God.

King Solomon had prospered and was established by God before he began to multiply wives contrary to the law. His wives turned his heart from God and he fell (1 Kings 11:1-10). May you not forget God after He establishes you in Jesus’ Name.

Christian sermon: Starting a family business

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Memorise: “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase”. (Job 8:7)

Read: Joshua 1:1-9

One implication of Jesus as Alpha is that you can have a new beginning in any area you failed or lost hope. Another implication of this Name is that being the Beginning, you can have the power to start anything He wants you to. Many fail or remain where they have always been, not because they do not know what to do, but because they lack the power to start.

Some have brilliant ideas that could turn around their lives; but they cannot go beyond that point. Some are afraid to leave where they are for the new place or assignment God has sent them. You need to be introduced to the Beginning. He will give you the power to start. That power is stronger than fear. It is stronger than any weaknesses or limitation.

Have you faced severe challenges in taking a new appointment, assignment or starting a new business? You are not alone. When a messenger is promoted to become the Managing Director, the fellow will face challenges. After the death of Moses, God told Joshua, Moses’ messenger , that he was now to take on the mantle of leadership for millions of Israelites.

Even though Moses had earlier prayed for him, he did not receive the news in good faith. How can a messenger suddenly become the father of a nation? What of the 70 elders and all the other leaders under Moses? Joshua was afraid. Some promotions can cause fear. In fact, some people have refused to accept certain promotions because they are afraid. Some think they cannot cope. Some think envious colleagues could kill them on that seat. But all they need is The Beginning. When you see yourself in such a situation, call on the Beginning to reveal Himself to you and see you through.

The time to turn down big openings from God has passed. The Beginning is with you. Fear not to go into that marriage partnership with that brother or sister. It is the Lord, not your flesh, friend or relative has led you. He will give you the courage and make all provisions available for you to succeed. Ask the Alpha to reveal Himself as the Beginning to you from today. Whatever you do this new year, let The Beginning guide you.

. Pray, “Lord Jesus, reveal Yourself to me as the Alpha throughout this year.

Bible study on forgiveness

HOW FORGIVING ARE YOU?

Pastor Adeboye
Memorise: “But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared” (Ps 130:4)

Read: Ephesians 4:24-32

Unforgiveness makes a believer to be rebranded as a wicked fellow by the Lord (Matt 18:23-34). The one who was once justified and declared righteous is now classed as wicked. May you never be so branded! The wicked is a believer who has dumped the works of righteousness for the works of the flesh, while still attempting to run the Christian race.

Another lesson from the above passage is that God forgives us because we asked Him. Until you ask for forgiveness, your sins are retained. This spiritual principle negates the error of some teachings that the blood of Jesus Christ continues to wash away your sins after you are born again, even without confessing them. This is a misinterpretation of 1 John 1:7.

Divine connection

By pastor Adeboye

Memorise: “If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine” (Lk 4:7)

Read: Jonah 1:1-4

I was in the United States of America for a programme in the month of June some years ago. God’s presence was so strong and we were all very excited. We were chatting as we drove back to the hotel where we lodged after the church service. One of my sons sat in the front passenger seat of the jeep, while I sat behind.

On arrival, he opened his door so as to come out and open mine. Somehow, my hand got into the front door. When my son opened the back door, he jammed the front door and cut my hand. I screamed in pain as everyone was confused on what to do. As we made for the room, the pain was unbearable. At that moment, I paused to ask God, Why? His reply was: ‘I visited you and you did not even say ‘Thank you”. I immediately told Him how sorry I was.

Bible sermon- Wives submit to your husbands

By Pastor Adeboye

Memorise: “Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, withersoever the governor listeth” (Jas 3:4 )

Read: Ephesians 5:22-24

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22).

The Bible gives the blueprint for success in marriage. If you want Heaven in your home, follow the marriage manual – the Bible. It is not enough to identify your God-given partner, even though this is very important. If you know God’s will in marriage but fail to adhere to His instructions, your marriage cannot be as pleasurable as God planned it to be. Wives are commanded to submit to their husbands.

Sermons on open doors

Memorise: “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion’ (Proverbs 28: 1)

Read: Exodus 2:11-15

The one who has an appointment with God is on the verge of rapid changes. One divine appointment successfully kept triggers off series of greater ones. The morning Moses took the sheep to graze in the desert and encountered the burning bush, was a regular day just like today.

He woke up a fugitive having fled for his life the past 40 years. The threat of Pharaoh haunted him that long. Some of us are fugitives within our nation. Like Jacob, the ills of the past has kept you from returning home.

Why does God allow suffering, pains, and problems?

Memorise: “Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me” (Proverbs 30:8).

Pastor Adeboye

Read: Proverbs 30:7-9

Never ask God to give you the wealth you cannot control. What you cannot control will control you. What you cannot control, will dominate you.

What you cannot be lord over will become your master. If you let the gifts take over the place of the Giver in your heart, you will provoke God to jealousy and before long, He will demand for your Isaac. Be wise.

David was one young man who had seen troubles and battles. He fought battles to the point that one of his greatest heart’s desire which was to build for the Lord was denied him. Reason? His hands had shed so much blood. His son Solomon had to do it in his place (1 Chr 22:6-11).

But as you will see from his life’s history, those battles and troubles he went through only succeeded in making him spiritually alert, prayerful, more reliant on God and victorious. The enemy could not catch up with him. Flagrant sins too were kept at bay. The situation of lack, persistent joblessness or fruitlessness you have been going through is not meant to destroy you.

Dealing with death by serving God

Memorise: “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation’ (Psalms 91:16).

Pastor E. Adeboye

Read: Isaiah 38:1-8

“There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren in thy land; the number of thy days I will fulfil” (Exodus 23:26). If you serve God with a perfect heart, nothing will kill your children. Apart from this, your God-given dream and ideas will be divinely shielded from vision destroyers.

The divine ideas and revelations that will take you to your destiny shall not die. They shall live, speak and accomplish the purpose God gave them to you in Jesus name. If you have observed such ideas and visions becoming dimmer day after day, know that something has gone wrong with your life of service. Make it up and you will recover in Jesus name.

Another benefit from serving God faithfully is long life. God promises to personally supervise your years on earth that they do not cease before His appointed time. Psalm 91:16 says, “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.”

This is true. What God is saying here is that you could serve Him to a point that you would be allowed to determine when to come home to glory. If He says, I am taking you at 60 years but you say, “Lord, I want 30 more years,” He will give in to your desire.

In today’s reading, we have an example in King Hezekiah. Prophet Isaiah took a message of death to him. He told him, Your time is up. Begin to write your will and put your house in order. But Hezekiah went to remind God of his years of service and life of holiness, immediately, God extended his life by 15 years.

Check the Scriptures. Those who served God with a perfect heart were never at the mercy of death. Most of them knew exactly when they would die. In fact, some of them toyed with the issue that gives even the greatest men on earth the dread of their lives. Peter knew his (2 Peter 1:14). Paul knew his (2 Timothy 4:6-8).

Have you been serving God faithfully? Nobody can kill you before your time. Long life is your portion. Like Job, God expects you to live long to enjoy the fruit of your labour (Job 42:12-17). How have you been serving God?

Increase your level of service both in quality and quantity and resist every spirit of death sent against you or your family. According to Psalm 118:17, the reason you will not die is because of service. Your quality and length of service can determine how long you live.

Command every spirit of death sent against you to return to sender.

Thank God for long life.

Bible scriptures on pride and over confidence

Memorise: “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall’ (I Corinthians 10:12).

Pastor Adeboye

Read: 1 Corinthians 10:11-13

Another factor responsible for quenching the pentecostal fire is over-confidence. This involves having a highly bloated ego, an above normal confidence in one’s knowledge, ability or possessions.

It is a sister to pride. The over confident person will boast of his ability and dare situations or challenges in his power. Usually, he will return with a tale of woe and defeat. You will not fall prey to this vice in Jesus name.

“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12). Over Confidence introduces some measure of laziness or slothfulness into anyone possessing it.

In his mock – West African School Certificate (WASC) Examination, a particular student came tops in Economics.

Bible study: how to receive the power of God

Memorise: “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people; for all the earth is mine’ (Exodus 19:5).

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Read: Exodus 19:3-6

For you to access special blessings, you must satisfy certain requirements. In Judges 13:3-5, when an angel brought the good news that Mrs Manoah was chosen to bear Samson, he told her she could no longer eat certain foods.

She was placed on a special diet. Do you want God to specially and mightily use you? You must be ready to carry the responsibilities that go with it. The anointing will cost you something. Are you ready to pay the price?

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people; for all the earth is mine” (Exodus 19:5). From this passage,

Christian sermon in depression and suicidal thoughts

Memorise: “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion’ (Proverbs 28: 1)

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Read: Exodus 2:11-15

The one who has an appointment with God is on the verge of rapid changes. One divine appointment successfully kept triggers off series of greater ones. The morning Moses took the sheep to graze in the desert and encountered the burning bush, was a regular day just like today.

He woke up a fugitive having fled for his life the past 40 years. The threat of Pharaoh haunted him that long. Some of us are fugitives within our nation. Like Jacob, the ills of the past has kept you from returning home.

Or it could be for fear of some strong man or woman capable of destroying you. Ever since you left home, you have been on the run. Whenever you have to visit your village or town unavoidably, you sneak in at night and sneak out before dawn. From today, you will run no more in Jesus name.

Bible lessons on Power of the tongue

Memorise: : “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28).

Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Read: Matthew 11:28-30

For several years I have been chauffeur-driven by one of my Pastors in London. This was purely voluntary and other people have had difficult time trying to take the job from him.

Each time we drove through the streets of London, we came across a particular mechanic workshop which specialises in repairing Rolls Royce. Usually they would have at least one for sale. The price ranged between 40,000 to 45,000 pounds while a brand new one costs as much as 100,000 pounds.

I told my driver – the Pastor that one day I will just walk into the workshop and leave with one Rolls Royce. He laughed it off knowing how I struggled to pay the bill for the London Holy Ghost service. I also laughed because I recognised he was yet to know what my God could do.

Favour: Bible study on divine favour

Memorise: “And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes” (John 21:6).

Pastor  Enoch Adeboye

Read: Luke 5: 1-7

Favour can make a big difference in your life, family, business and projects. In this world, there are two classes of people: the favoured and the disfavoured. The favoured class, however, has various levels, from one to infinity. From this month, the level of favour you have never enjoyed will be your portion in Jesus name. It is your time of favour.

When you are materially favoured by God, whatever you lay hands on will suddenly produce optimum yields. Some people continue to jump from profession to profession. Some jump from job to job, one line of business to another. In most cases the problem is not with the job, business or profession.

Bible study on christian miracles

Memorise: “And he said, cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent: and Moses fled from before it” (Exodus 4:3).

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Read: Exodus 4:1-7

Glorious benefits follow a divine appointment. For instance in Exodus 4, when Moses had his divine appointment at the backside of the desert, four things immediately happened to him. First, he saw miracles. God’s fire was burning a bush, yet the bush did not lose a leaf, stem, fruit, colour, life or anything. It was a wonderful sight indeed.

Some Christians are afraid to call the fire of God into their situations for fear of being burnt. This is not true. Whenever God’s fire falls, it protects God’s children, but consumes enemies and opposing situations in their lives.

Christians and wealth management

Memorise: “Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me” (Proverbs 30:8).

By Pastor Adeboye

No unpleasant situation can drown you because God says if you pass through fire, He will step into it with you. If it is through the flood, He will ensure you do not drown (Isaiah 43:1-2). Those situations are to keep you spiritually on guard. God is present in times of trouble.

Sometimes, some Christians pray, Lord let all those troubling my life die today. Others pray, Lord let problems cease in my life and let me enter my rest today. If God should answer those prayers, you will be either be taken immediately to Heaven or you may backslide completely. When there is no challenge to keep you on your toes, you will become very complacent.

When there is no more test, you cannot be promoted beyond your present level. When you have all your needs met and no enemy attacks you, not long after, when they tell you, Let us pray, you will ask, Pray to whom and for what? All the time David ran from cave to cave either fleeing from king Saul, Absalom his son or his other enemies, he remained fit.

But when he was established as the king and comfort set in, he could find time for adultery, lies and murder of an innocent child of God (2 Samuel 11:1-25). Check all the excesses of comfort in your life and take steps to have mastery over whatever God gives you. Like the writer of today’s reading make the wise request to be given the level of wealth you can control. That unpleasant situation is working for you.

Problems are revival pills to keep us spiritually healthy.
