When we go to the Bible, Israel came from Shem and the people of the promised land (the Philistines, etc) all came from Ham. That's the curse. That Ham's descendants are black people is holdover from racist times -- it was a common excuse (taken out of context) used to justify segregation and slavery. Um, to paraphrase Noah’s curse, it was that Ham’s descendants would be the servants of Shem.
