Curses and Blessings
In allowing the incidents of Gen 35:18 to be recorded in the scriptures, the Holy Spirit teaches us that curses (cursed names) should and can be reversed by a blessing (blessed name).
We see how an innocent child, born to Rachael, could have be doomed to a life of sorrow by virtue of the cursed name (Benoni = son of my sorrow) given by his mother, had the father not come in immediately to change the curse into a blessing (Benjamin = son of my favoured right hand of power).
Rachael was the beautiful daughter of the manipulative Laban, who Jacob spent another seven years of hard labour to marry, after Laban has deceived him to have the elder sister Laban. Beautiful though she was, Rachael was a nag (Gen. 30:1), contentious (Gen. 30:8), a thief/ idolater (Gen. 31:19), deceptive and (Gen. 31:34-35). But worse of all, she was of such a wicked heart that at the point of death, she sentenced her innocent baby to a life of curse, naming him Benoni, a son of sorrow.
Was the innocent baby responsible for Rachael’s death? I do not think so. By her words to her husband Jacob in Gen. 30:1 “…Give me children or else I die”, she had sentenced her self to death. No man can give children; only God does, so since Jacob could not have given her children, the only option remaining according to her words was to die. And so God gave her, not just a child, but children, and immediately she died! May we not be ensnared by our own words. Amen.
Thank God for Jacob who immediately reversed Rachael’s deathbed curse. Parents, when a partner curses, let the other immediately bless. Otherwise, the effects might linger on the child like it did on Jabez, before he in his adult age, cried out to God.

CURSING OTHERS AND
BEING CURSED
SPOKEN CURSES
We can pray a psychic prayer or we can speak against another person either in our thoughts or out loud. We need to be careful what we think and speak. The words we think or speak go out into the air and they have power to do good or evil.
ANCESTRAL CURSES
The first curses that we can receive are those placed on us by our ancestors which include our parents. We are innocent and have committed no sin but we still are cursed because of what those did who were in spiritual authority over us.
PARENTAL CURSES
The parents can curse the child in the womb, after the child is born and until it dies. This is frightening when you think about the consequences of your actions on your children and grandchildren.
Common examples of cursing the child in the womb include not wanting the child when it is conceived, and the way the child is talked to or thought about.
Common examples of cursing the child after it is born include rejecting the child in some manner, such as wanting a boy when a girl is born, and not quickly changing their minds, cursing the child in thought or words, and mistreating the child mentally, spiritually or emotionally.
CURSING BY PEOPLE OTHER THAN YOUR ANCESTORS
You can be cursed by people other than your ancestors. These include those in the grip of the Devil: Satan worshipers, witches and warlocks, covens, fortune tellers and anyone practicing witchcraft. They include those in Christianity who would speak against you and pray psychic prayers for you.
How can you be cursed by these people? There must be a cause for the curse to land. I have not seen anyone that lives a blameless, sinless, perfect life according to the whole Word of God including myself.
CURSING YOURSELF
Other than being cursed by others, you can curse yourself.
ORIGIN OF CURSES
Curses come from God and are carried out by Satan with permission from God. Curses can come to you from your ancestors or those who are not your relatives. You can curse yourself. Curses can go out from you to your descendents or to others not your relatives.
SCRIPTURE
Deut. 28:1-2 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt (shalt not) hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy god will set (not set) thee on high above all nations of the earth: and all these blessings shall (shall not) come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt (shalt not) hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. (Read it both with and without.)
Deut. 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee. (Obey or be cursed!)
SIX STEPS TO FREEDOM FROM CURSES
It is more effective if you work on specific rather than general curses:
1. Identify the names of the curses and the sins that caused the curses.
2. Forgive those that caused the curses for their sins against God in placing these curses on the family line.
3. Repent and pray to God to take away the right for the curses to be in your lives.
4. Break the curses in the Name of Jesus Christ.
5. Cast out the demons that came in with the curses.
6. Discipline your life and sin no more.

Now the issue about names is something that really baffle’s me.in my case,my name simply means ..How many are we?now on the other side,i tend to have several talents that are are above average standard even at undeveloped stage.My predicament now lies in deciding what to choose to as a career and the end of every frustrated attempt to do as much as i can..i end asking my self…..How many are My?i hope u understand what i’m trying to say here,since my name is a question?i need to know if it has an effect on me in this sense cos having a lot of talents is not a bad thing..i’m a little bit confused here someone help.

May the annointing of God continue to be resfresh on you. The series of curses metioned are real but thank God for our Lord Jesus Christ though who all our curses is being removed.
